Craig & Shell - you go on as though adoption (which would be out of the question ... nobody wants to adopt older children) and fostering were not a drain on resources themselves. Do you know how much councils pay to fostering children - per child? I can tell you ... a considerably bit more than knocking two houses into one. Families this size are not common-place it's just weird how the heil and the scum seem to track every one of them down. If only they'd spend their time tracking down all the high-earning tax-dodgers ... at least it would even the playing field of hate out a bit.

I have no objection to people having kids, 1, 10, 50 for all I care long as 1) They know how to look after them 2) They can afford to pay for them themselves without the taxpayer picking up the tab

Riiight. You do realise that adoption isn't an instant process and depends on, uh, somebody WANTING and being able to adopt them? (Fat chance of that happening quickly in the current economic climate, especially with the age of some of them)

 

What in that article at all suggests she's an unfit mother? She has acquired four children from a new partnership. Surely it would be MORE unfit of her to give up children that aren't hers for adoption just because she can't instantly house them?

How do you know she fails miserably? The article says NOTHING about the behaviour of the children. They may be badly behaved, they may be well behaved, you have no way of knowing it from what the article reports - all it reports is that she's taken on four children from a new partnership and is looking for another house, but can't find one - why does that mean she can't look after her children and bring them up well?

Look at the boys, the one in the grey top is the stereotypical chav, look at the 3 in the front, particularly the one at the front with the black t shirt, just by looking at them I can see young criminals in the making, I can guarantee if she is interviewed again in 10 years that those lads will have police records

 

And she is not bringing them up properly because she is crowding 8 kids into a tiny house like that, 4 of them have to go into a box room which means some dont even have a bed, she has declined several much larger houses.

it is human nature to be judgemental, I wasn't going by the clothes I was going by their faces and their facial expressions etc

How do you know she couldn't afford them when she had them? For all you know, she might have had a steady job until two years ago, before the recession caused by the rich and cheered by the Tories made her redundant.

 

By the way, couples like this are going to become all the more common if the Coalition gets its way and starts slashing jobs in the public sector, so you'd better get used to stories like this, and remember your vote helped facilitate it.

OK, yesterday when I said that you had written that statement from that Tory about letting poor kids into good schools, I was joking... now, I'm not so sure, because this was EXACTLY the gist of what that guy was saying, comments that you distanced yourself from.

 

I don't agree with what the MEP said yesterday although I can kinda see where he is coming from but I don't believe what he is saying as universities, the City etc are full of people with working class / state school upbringings, yes a sizeable minority are exactly as he described but I don't believe that what he described represents every working class person any more than every muslim supporting Al Qaeda, its nonsense.
