Celine Dion interrupted her month-long summer vacation yesterday by hosting a golf tournament and giving a concert that's expected to raise $1 million for three Quebec children's charities.

About 600 people were expected to attend the concert at Le Mirage golf course north of Montreal, which Dion and her husband Rene Angelil have owned since 1997.

Tickets never went on sale. Instead, they were offered privately to friends. Prices were $15,000 and $25,000, depending on the number of concert tickets.

Proceeds will be divided among the Ste-Justine Hospital Foundation, the Quebec Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Celine Dion Foundation.

She's always been hugely involved in all kinds of charities and this shows once again howbig hearted she is.

Nowadays many people survive. Look at Anastacia, Kylie, Sheryl Crowe, Lance Armstrong to name a few.
Yep but celebs can afford the best treatment :(! Many poorer people die of it, it's a really viscious, horrible disease that can't be avoided, like heart disease can be avoided by eating healthy, but with cancer it's like luck if you don't get it :(
cancer really is a nightmare as you reallt cant prevent it,heart disease you have some chance of trying to prevent it
Yep I agree, I hope one day they find a cure for cancer, more efficient than the ones they have today :)
ME TO BUT THE BIG BREAK THROUGH SEEMS NO NEARER than it ever was,it would be great if they could find that big break through and the sooner the better
I agree, but I doubt they ever will with decreasing rainforests etc... I hope they do though, it'll be the biggest medical breakthrough in recent history in my opinion!
well it would just be brilliant to find the breakthrough no matterwhat the cost within health reasons if you know what i mean
Yep, and as years went on, it would become cheaper and maybe even available on the NHS!
