The weekly guide, as to whats been hot or not this week. Based on sales averages & chart averages. All put together by the band of "merry" men of DTR (a non-profitting radio venture)

The Top Books:

01 NE THE FRY CHRONICLES - STEPHEN FRY

02 02 61 HOURS - LEE CHILD

03 01 A JOURNEY - TONY BLAIR

04 NE GUINESS WORLD RECORDS 2010

05 03 A WEEK IN DECEMBER - SEBASTIAN FAULKES

08 04 I SHALL WEAR MIDNIGHT - TERRY PRACHETT

09 05 LOST SYMBOL - DAN BROWN

10 NE DEVIL RIDES OUT - PAUL O'GRADY

Surprisingly Tony Blair gets one of the biggest selling books of 2010. The only thing he's likely to be top of again! In his first whole week, Tony sold 63,000 in total which was a combo of the Hardback & the airport paperback. It wasn't the fastest selling book of all time though. That one goes to David Beckham. "My Side" sold 86,126 in 2 days & 103,508 in it's first full week, back in 2003. It's good to know that books in general are still selling well, in this lazy computer age. Though I must admit to reading the unpublished Dr Who Target novels online, but reading from a screen does tend to mess your eyes up, after a bit.

The Flashback Charts in September 1976:

The Top TV, back then; It's official that in November 1976, TV audicences peaked. After that it was downhill all the way. Figures were in homes rather than individuals & still September it hadn't happened yet. Coronation Street did not topped one single chart in 1976 or 1977.

01 GEORGE AND MILDRED 8.80...The Ropers move house in series one of the sitcom

02 THE SWEENEY 8.20...Dennis Waterman & John Thaw in Series 3 of the Flying Squad drama. In Sept 1976, Dennis released the album & single "I'm Too Old To Play For The England Football Team"...Well, many were but it didn't stop them!

03 BRUCE FORSYTH AND THE GENERATION GAME 7.90...Bruce wins Saturday night tv, with a host of guests & hostess Anthea Redfern

04 CROSSROADS 7.60...down at the Motel, a la Benny, Meg et al

05 PILGER 7.40...an ITV documentary series with John Pilger tracing world history stuff, like propaganda, Australia, Israel & various other topics

06 THE TWO RONNIES 7.20...Series 5 featuring Fork Handles & The Phantom Raspberry Blower Of Old London Town

07 THE GOOD LIFE 7.10...Tom & Barbara vs Jerry & Margo in the Self Sufficiency sitcom

08 THE BENNY HILL SHOW 7.10...Wednesday at 8pm for Benny & co

09 DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET 7.10...the BBC's answer to Upstairs Downstairs based on the real life stories of Rosa Lewis & the Cavendish Hotel

10 CROSSROADS 7.00

11 CROSSROADS 6.80

12 THE BIONIC WOMAN 6.80...Lynsey Wagner as Jamie Somers in the US Sci-Fi series on ITV on Tuesdays at 7.30pm

13 CORONATION STREET 6.70...early days for Mike Baldwin at this point, having an affair with Bet Lynch

14 CROSSROADS 6.30

15 SPRING AND AUTUMN 6.30...Jimmy Jewel, Charlie Hawkins, & Jo Warne (who played the original Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders) star in the sitcom, where Jimmy plays a pensioner, who has many adventures with a young boy

16 CORONATION STREET 6.20

17 NINE O'CLOCK NEWS 6.20

18 NEWS AT TEN 6.10

19 THE DICK EMERY SHOW 6.00...Saturday night comedy with Dick in many a guise

20 DR WHO 6.00...The Masque Of Mandragora with Tom Baker & Elisabeth Sladen. The show reached it's peak & it was the last series with Liz as Sarah Jane Smith. Many people (at the time) said it should have been taken off after she left. I agree. I don't reckon it was ever the same again, & the plots were harder & harder to follow. But Saturday night & the BBC certainly won the schedules of Saturdays in general

Just outside the top 20, there was Top Of The Pops, Happy Ever After, Tomorrow's World (3 Thursday night BBC winners), The Streets Of San Francisco, & The Fall & Rise Of Reginald Perrin. Kids tv saw Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin, Maggie Philbin, & John Craven in the 1st series of The Multi-Coloured Swap Shop featuring a cartoon break with Hong Kong Phooey...So, remember the name of Henry the mild mannered janitor's cat in that cartoon?

A big mistake by DH, who had had his drink spiked during recording! It was also the first time pan pipes appeared in the chart via Gheorghie Zamfir.

Finishing off the look at 1976, I noted that a few newspapers were expresing concerns back then, at the growing number of under-age pregnancies i.e. before 16. 34 years on, what can I say? Jim Callaghan you had a lot to answer for, even before Mrs Thatcher came to power...& I didn't vote for either! :teresa:

05 08 REACH FOR THE SKIES - RAF CENTRAL BAND 27th Sept

I always wonder why some artists i.e. Tinie Tempah, don't come up with more original titles...Look's like he's pulled out an ELO album from his collection, which I'd rather hear anyday! :teresa: Outside that lot, we've got Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Rumer, JLS, The Wanted, & someone called Joe McElderry (whose not got a title yet, for his 25th October release). We can only hope that it remains that way e.g. invisible!

Hang on for the top 75 lowdown, but first the top physicals

Dave, Tinie's album is actually called 'Disc-Overy'. You see, it's a bit of a pun. Better than just 'Discovery'.

Very surprised Alex Gaudino only scraped top 10 on the physical chart, I expected an easy top 5. It's the sort of song that tends to do well physically.

Well thanks to Bray there, for pointing that out. I must admit to not being the greatest fan of TT. Can't help but think, that maybe there's no room in music for innuendo. Keep it clean, I say! But then maybe it's just my age & I'm out of touch with the average teenager.

On to the finale. The top 75 based on averages both sales & downloads for this week (over a Sun-Fri basis). All put together by DTR.

Bruno does it easily, & released a week early to beat off all those covers. A few weeks for him, me thinks.

Don't forget Heart FM Spain for the complete top 40 countdown Sunday at 4pm. Atlantic Oldies 2NG for the Retro Countdown...one for Mikey because it's September 1979 at 2pm on Sunday.

Fresh still top 30 :D

I find it very strange Bashy has only charted in his second week of release... what's up with that?

Hopefully deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner - Animal Rights will stay top 75, if only because the name 'Wolfgang Gartner' is absolutely epic. I'd kill for that name.

it has got a title, 'wide awake' i believe, which is apt as maybe if you were wide awake then you would have known this :naughty:

Well it's been a hard week, you know! Though it apparently was late in coming, if I'm correct.

i'm just teasing  and yeah i think it has only just been announced. love this chart though, appreciate all the work :D

I find it odd seeing Scissor Sisters and A'ha in the top 10 physical chart where they fail to enter the official Top 40 chart and yet Alex Guardino is top 10, Aex must be doing fairly well on downloads.

The 1976 chart, I vividly remember listening to some of those tracks, as I remember my mother playing Sailing to death by Rod Stewart at the time, and I ended up throwing it out in the dustbin. :D

Thanks for compiling Dave

Physicals sell f*** all now, aside from charity releases, X Factor artists and 'fanbase buy' artists (eg. Paul Weller)

I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It) is #5 on iTunes

Scissor sisters doing well on phyisicals but saldy prob wont even make the top 50 on sunday. I hope kylie can get the phyisical number when get outta my way is released.

Also nice to see eastenders over take corrie again in the ratings.

It's a shame to see Scissor Sisters not doing well for this era, they've really won me back after the last shoddy album (barring 'Kiss You Off'). Oh well, quality is important and at least that's there...

lol Morrissey top 3 on pre-order singles :o

Hopefully Bike song will be top 20 tomorrow. ^_^
