Firstly, if you actually listen to MCR's lyrics you will see how and why people refer to them as emo.

Yep, their lyrics are, by and large, whiny, idiotic, sub-Cobain/Reznor/Corgan crap frankly...... I remember what "Emo/Emocore" used to sound like in the 90s, which is why I hate Pop/Rock crap such as this and Crap Charlotte being lumped into that category by the media. But, at least they actually stopped calling them "goth" or "alternative rock" (I remember The fukkin' Rasmus being described as "goth" once, now that really irked me....).

As Robert Smith once said when a journalist described him as the "Godfather of Emo" - "errr, well, I've always written emotional music...".

Back onto MCR, I think most of you will probably hate the rest of the album as well hudging by what else has premiered

"Sing", likely third single since video preview folloing on from the clip of "Na Na Na" has aired.

There's also a song called "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back" floating around that sounds pretty satisfactory if a bit generic.

I'm quite disappointed by this era's songs so far. What happened to the edge they had in Black Parade?

EDIT! Sorry for being TIRED!

Edited by Kieran.

Shock horror, someone likes them.

you sure he didnt meant "urrr what" cos Keirans post doesnt make any sense, i think he has missed a few words out of his sentence.

Yeah oops.

This is indeed what I was reffering to.

available to listen to now in the usual places, it's on Youtube as well as they had an "live album transmission" on their website last night.

anyway, don't expect The Black Parade part 2 here and don't really expect any of the previous albums to sound like this. This is definitely an album that needs to grow on you as the listener won't instantly love half of the songs I reckon. I wouldn't say it's their best stuff after hearing 2 or 3 times but I'm enjoying the majority of the songs and how they've changed their sound. The only real problem I've got with the album is there isn't anything like The Sharpest Lives or Thank You For The Venom on there

Na Na Na and Vampire Money (at the end of the album) are probably the only straight up rock/punk songs on the album. Everything else seems to sound like it's had influences from the 80s, a lot of synths and guitars in the songs but they are typical My Chemical Romance without sounding like them if that makes sense . Good album if not as good as any of the previous 3 from first impressions, maybe I'll have a different opinion if asked next year or something though

It actually sounds a bit like Green Day did with their last two albums. American Idiot was their concept album with the theatrics as My Chemical Romance had with The Black Parade then Green Day came out with 21st Century Breakdown with which they tried out different sounds but still made it sound like a Green Day album. This album has experimental attempts at songs but it still sounds like a MCR album

favourite tracks are probably Bulletproof Heart, Planetry (Go!), Destroya, The Kids From Yesterday and Vampire Money. Although I do like the songs that leaked before like The Only Hope For Me Is You etc

Picked this up today, and it's certainly growing. First listen it was slightly underwhelming but a lot of the tracks (S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W is a great example of this) really grab you second and third time around.
What a truly $h!tty album. Even XTina's was better.

Just got the album and it's amazing like Green Day's American Idiot is amazing: simple, easy, full of hooks and great choruses.

I love how sometimes the choruses sneak in and you don't even notice.

S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W and DESTROYA are fantastic (nevermind the titles).
