f***, i even remember owning a MCR album (although i won't often admit to it) when i was like 13, but once you hear bands like Nine Inch Nails you just can't take it seriously anymore, especially how the fans looked and acted, i think i saw them and realised just how f***ing lame it was.

And thank god for this being the case :)

Emo was a pile of crap in the first place, even MCR distanced themselves from it. The sad kids who labelled themselves as such jumped on their music but they'd existed before the term came to be commonly used.

More like Busted/McFly? Okay

And law of diminishing returns? When so far each of their albums has sold more than the last?

I meant in terms of MUSIC and SONG-WRITING.... Not in terms of "unit shifting"....

No, you see, this is where you are totally and utterly FUKKIN' WRONG... Emo, or EMOTIONAL HARDCORE as the scene first started out was not crap at all.. It was crap when bands like MCR and Goodfukkin' Charlotte started to get lumped in with it by clueless berks like the NME and other music rags....

You know, you have the audacity to tell ME to "do my research" when it's pretty apparent you know nothing about the origins of Emo/Emocore/Emotional Hardcore music.....

But, hey, seeing as how I'm such a nice guy, here's a little primer for you..... Read and learn kid....

Let's face it, Emo's are a disgrace, much of them (and I don't mean all) would happier end their lives in the ultimate form of attention seeking. I had a mate who slit his wrists, the problem was, he showed them off as if they were pokemon cards.

In the end, I laughed in his face and told him to man up.

I meant Emo as you were referring to Emos like five posts ago, but the old emotional hardcore which is obviously an entirely different beast.

That's actually more wrong then, in terms of unit-shifting MCR and McFly aren't that far away nowadays...

But you can see clearly what's happened dont you...? It's like when "Nu Metal" was trying to usurp Metal... Although, there was one hell of an almighty backlash to stuff like Linkin Park and the Durst creature..... And thank fukk too....

And frankly, I would argue that even AFI and Jimmy Eat World were streets ahead of the sort of nonsense we have now....

I'm not afraid to admit, as a child of Black and Death (and Folk but shhh!) Metals, I actually sorta like AFI. But that is as close to the emo scene as I will go.

Let's lay off MCR a little now (although not entirely) and focus on BrokenCYDE. Seriously, its a load of stupid Emo guys. Trying to attempt screamo but it just sounds like a fox awaiting death. It's ridiculous. Don't even get me started on bands like Never Shout Never (who's name alone is a disgrce) and YMAS and the likes.

All these are problem bands as I like to call them. They are beginning a world problem, indie kids are Rapidly switching to these bands. I thought Indie was horrible. This is even worse.

Brokencyde are hilariously awful, so much so they're something of a cult figure in my year. Bring Me The Horizon are also pretty $h!t in a slightly different way.

Although lets not go OFF TOPIC. this is an MCR thread.

Fair enough, just wanted to state a few bands i also hate! :P

I can take a very little tolerance to BMTh, although not much.

I can just about listen to It Never Ends all the way through, that's about it

That song is actually so boring IMO :P

I can tolerate Chelsea Smile and The Comedown.

Good Charlotte emo? Weren't they always pop punk?

That said, I wouldn't really put MCR in emo/goth categories - it's pretty much heavy guitar pop. The Black Parade was a great album, but nothing to really be taken seriously - just throwaway pop rock.

Sorry but I don't get you guys. To me, MCR have always been a rock band. Just like Green Day is a rock band. MCR is not emo, punk or metal just like Green Day is not punk or metal or anything that matter.

There's nothing emo or punk or metal in Welcome to the Black Parade or The Sharpest Lives. And Teenagers is just a simple pop song.

It's not necessary to put artists into narrow genres because besides AC/DC I don't know any band who have sounded exactly the same thoughout their career.

Don't judge book by its cover -> translated to music: don't judge a band by its fans :P

MCR's first 2 albums are incredibly Emo but I agree Black Parade is a step forward. However, Na Na Na is a step in the direction of Busted.

Oh and Status Quo can go alongside AC/DC in never changing.

Firstly, if you actually listen to MCR's lyrics you will see how and why people refer to them as emo.

secondly, Airbourne are AC/DC

It's all bollocks anyway, you shouldn't listen to music because of a certain tag that comes along with it. That's why I cant stand all this 'emo' crap (saying that, MCR's 'Teenagers' is a real guilty pleasure of mine!). People should just enjoy the music.
