My opinions so far on the songs chosen:

 

Marko Maunuksela - Typically Finnish with tango elements. Good looking guy, but the song is not my cup of tea. 5/10

Johanna Iivanainen - Coma ballad. How did this go through over Jonna and Automatic Eye? 2/10

Cardiant - Now this is more like it. Heavy metal number with a powerful chorus. I can see this doing reasonably well in ESC. 9/10

Milana Misic - Very Balkan esque ehtno ballad. Strong voice, and well performed. This could go far and a dark horse to win the Finnish heat. 8/10

Paradise Oskar - Very Tom Dice, though aside from the comparisions a simple guitar ballad which has the biggest potential for Finland. 9/10

Father McKenzie - A bit Scouting for Girls meets Daniel Powter with a few 80s influences thrown in. Strong song and has a lot of appeal. Could go far. 8/10

 

So far, a decent final but I could happily discard Johanna and Marko. Chorale were robbed and although it's similar to Waldo's People which deserved better in 2009, I'd have loved this in the final and going to ESC.

The winner is Paradise Oskar with Da Da Dam, an acoustic-y pop song, a little more uptempo than Tom Dice last year but similar I guess. I really like it on first listen!

I don't think it's better than Tom Dice's song but it's a great entry from Finland, I've been listening to it a lot this week :wub: Lose Control is my favourite though - after two years it's STILL my ringtone, and I won't change it as everyone knows it as mine.

'Lose Control' :wub: Criminal that they ended up finishing last in 2009. :drama: Based on song alone, it was my #1 Eurovision track of the year just edging out 'Is It True'. Yes, I'm one of the 0.00002% of people who didn't think 'Fairytale' was all that but it later grew on me.

 

Anyways, listened to this 'Da Da Dum' song and it's...odd. :lol: 'Me & My Guitar' was a much better song imo but there's still plenty of time for this song to grow on me.

 

So far I'm underwhelmed with the winning entries I've heard so far. Even Norway's entry hasn't grabbed my attention in a "this is great" way although it blates pisses all over Basshunter 'You Raise Me Up'.
