I didn't take part in UPII, so no I didn't.

I agree with you of course, there have been so many missed opportunities here in recent years - Jungle Drum springs instantly to mind. It's not like Sia is a complete unknown here I suppose. She's very big in indie circles and obviously went top ten with Taken For Granted, and is famous for being Zero 7's singer. My mind always mixes her up with Jo Whiley for some reason, they look quite similar  Oh definitely, just look at Satellite, Wonderful Life, Alors On Danse, Waka Waka...all #21-30 megahits in the UK and actual hits everywhere else...will the depressing list ever end?

I understand you're not the biggest fan of indie music so can see why you'd choose not to participate. As strange as it might sound, the reason why I've decided against taking part in BJSC is actually in case I won. As the winner gets to hose the following competition, I doubt I'd have enough time to actually put together and full show. My "CC Idol" days are well and truly behind me (when I seemed to have a lot more time on my hands :kink: ).

It's weird because I knew Sia had made #10 in the UK with a song I couldn't remember. I listened to it on YouTube and soon realised why I didn't know it, because I never particularly liked that song. :( Hmm, actually they do look similar. Personally I'd say - especially from watching the 'Clap Your Hands' video - Sia looks like Toyah Wilcox!!!

The never ending list of massive European hits bombing in the UK. :drama: I'm more surprised when it's a British act like Amy Macdonald or, more recently, Hurts performing badly in their home country but storming across Europe with the same song. The Europeans just seem to apprecaite a great song when they hear it rather than how much the record company spent on promoting the song. :(

Cheers Mavoy :D

04 (--) Kylie Minogue - Get Outta My Way (04) [1 wk]- "All The Lovers"`s better

Oh definitely. 'All The Lovers' spent three weeks stuck at #2 in my chart behind K'naan 'Wavin' Flag' (which I still personally like more). That said, 'Get Outta My Way' is a strong second single but I suppose most of the fans didn't bother buying the single as they already had the album.

09 (--) Tinie Tempah feat. Eric Turner - Written In The Stars (09) [1 wk]- I saw the video yesterday, this song is great

It sure is. :D It's also Tinie's first appearance in my chart. When I first heard 'Pass Out' I thought it'd be one of those low top 20 hits and drop down after. I never for one minute expected 'Pass Out' to go to no. 1 and when it did I was completely surprised. I still think it's below average but that's better than what I thought first time I heard it. 'Frisky' has never grown on me - just don't think the song is strong at all. So 'Written In The Stars' goes straight in at #9 here and totally deserved to sell 115k in its first week of release.

11 (--) Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar (11) [1 wk]- I heard it once on the public teenage-alternative radio. OK.

Is this a European radio station? It's a real grower of a track. One of the UPII entries I've listened to more since the contest.
