I was definitely a Rolling Stones rather than Beatles person.

And I Love Her was excellent

Hey Jude was also good.It's harder because their vocal range was so different to Darius.

It's a tricky one.

 

It's a song which starts like a ballad and really explodes later. Long too. One of the landmark Beatles songs and no-one sings it better than Paul McCartney.

 

Darius has the capability and charisma to do it justice. I just hope he does.

I'm sure he will. I'd have liked at least 3 from him. There's a surprise.

Darius will sing it Fantasticly :D !........No matter what song is thrown at him he has the natural talent and voice to make them his own!! :D I soooooooo love him singing ANY type of song! :wub:

I must admit, I'm never sure when they change pop songs to ones with a classical twist.

yes I am always apprehensive, I suppose if a song is well crafted with proper music written by the songwriter etc- it will stand being given a classical twist - watched jules the other night, and forgiving that Paul cant sing, Neil cant sing and elvis costello cant sing these days, understandable given their ages LOL - Neil Diamond did a lovely slow version of I'm a beleiver, it became an altogether different rather poignant song

Paul and Cliff are the same age - and Cliff can still sing very well.

I havent heard him sing for a while so dont know - then again Cliff does seem to defy the ravages of age, never ceases to amaze me

Id rather he had sung Yesterday, Hey jude is well down the list for me as a a song, not a song that would stretch a good singer and not a good choice to give him.

i just asked the chap what the problem was and he replied that darius is forever changing octaves, and that he shouldnt have chosen to sing it.. i assumed they would be given songs already prearranged as the orchestra wanted..oh well

 

 

i am praying now..wonder how much rehearsals they get..

Well I was amazed, it's the best Hey Jude I've ever heard.

 

Started quiet and with emotion, then when he sang, wow he certain gave his voice to us.

 

I loved it. It was very moving.

 

He was outstanding.

 

Only caught one person comment, as we had to dash for the train, she said '...and Darius was brilliant!'

It was worth waiting till almost the end to hear him.

 

I hope it goes on his album

Very good - Darius came over as the star he was. Very good performance. Must say some of the others weren't good but it was worth going - even though we had to catch a taxi to be able to get home.
