I don't know what wen t wrong, whether the sound was out or what but it was dreadful. I like Liz but she was the worst one there and Anthony wasn't much better. They could do so much better, it was either something technical or bad nerves

I've tried to upload 'Hey Jude' on facebook. After 5 hrs it says there's 3 to go. I may cancel it and put it on unofficial instead.

that is ridiculous, i know there is a size limit as one of my garden ones just seemed to stay uploading for an age and i had to cancel it.

yup, re liz..i watched theirs on youtube, and wasnt impressed, was worried due to that chap dissing d and liz and antonys twitter mates saying they had smashed it etc..everyone sees something different i suppose. i think darius' experience in all the things he has done puts him in good stead -as he comes across as very self assured on such a large stage, its not a case of wandering on and singing, loved the way he introduced the conductor etc..

What got me was, I was putting an mpeg2 file up on youtube and it told me to upload the full quality one - then just hung for anoth 6 1/2 hrs before failing. Then facebook wouldn't even try to upload it. The limit on youtube is 2gb and the file was 1.3 gb. It was a smaller one I was trying to do on facebook

totally agree, i am always wanting something more from such performances - or what is the point. someone had tweeted they had seen antony costa and liz murder ticket to ride, akin to a kareoke, i would rather not have darius accused of that

I haven't found that one. Did they do a duet?

Darius's HJ never comes up on the side list for me on youtube either. I bookmarked it the last time I found it.

Of course some people are bound to say Darius has "murdered" a particular song he covers. That's a risk a singer takes if they decide to re-interpret songs rather than doing a straight copy of it. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Very, very few singers are immune from such criticism - Dame Shirley is one, for sure. She still has such magnetism and that unmistakably thrilling voice.

Music appreciation is so subjective. You can even love something and play it and play it, then forget it and not know why you liked it at all when you hear it again later. It's an emotional thing.

yes, they did a duet, i suscribed to the channel, as they have all the perormances on youtube, should be under beatles 50th ann rah - if they havent been removed that is

snd yup its all emotive - i would rather d critised for doing his own version on this occasion- than for being kareoke which imo would have been a lost opportunity with that orchestra

Good timing again. He got a laugh.

And did you notice along with the bow, the touch to the forehead? He may have changed his name but there's still that ingrained respect for his non-Scottish heritage.

yes, indeed - i was impressed with that aspect, and the warm hugs with the coductor and acknowledgement of the orchestra, and the bit with the audience singing. i couldnt quite catch what he said when he held the mic out to the crowd, something about make a sad song better if we sing together..perhaps that was my ears lol all in all great.

Finally got this on. I think it's a virgin problem, the speed of the internet became snail like for hours at a time.

I found Ticket to Ride. I thought it was OK but I don't think the two voices blended really well and they seemed to go off the boil at the repetitive end bit where the Beatles used to just ad lib to the end.

I'm pretty sure the Beatles used to ad lib the vocals over the na na na na na nas when they did gigs.

Thank you for your Herculean efforts to put your video on here, Megham.

It's so nice to see the expression on D's face and the sound is cleaner and clearer on yours.

I can't hear exactly what he sings before holding out the mike to the audience but I think you're right, pip. I definitely hear "sing together" at the end.

Interestingly, did you see him draw away the mike at "shoulder"?

Michael Buble does that too. It's a technique to adjust the sound and BTW the reason why lots of people on forums accused MB of miming on X Factor. They don't realise these singers have powerful enough voices to still be heard when the microphone is lowered.

yes i was thinking of mb when i saw that,

thanks for going to all that trouble,meg..virgin has been slow for a couple of days and keeps cutting off intermittently for us, we have to keep turnng the modem on and off.

its amazingly clear and loud isnt it- things have moved on since our video recorder..must think about getting a new one , ours was like carrying a brick, they are tiny these days
I haven't t bothered with camcorders for years - the camera videos are just so good these days.
true, plus it always seemed to be me with the camera or videoing on hols, and i cant be bothered carrying two cases any more like the good old days. our camera videos well enough - though not good as your video
Darius does the same with the microphone during The Big Band. Keeps singing as he drops the mic right down. Works really well.
