October 31, 201014 yr Author Virgin must be having problems. The whole of Glasgow and Bristol were down today, everything except their phone lines. Nice photos on getty of Darius, Dame Shirley and Tony. Thanks.
October 31, 201014 yr Author Finally got this on. I think it's a virgin problem, the speed of the internet became snail like for hours at a time. sDEqNTdDQgc How on earth can someone commenting on the other video call that turgid? It's far from it.
October 31, 201014 yr beats me, at least she says he sings it well - perhaps too much Shirley waving her arms around and being a bit OTT has biased he, she seems to be quite a fan, who would have liked the whole tribute ot be done by Shirley LOL- I think he probably did it this way to contrast Shirley, it would have been a bit much all competing on th ebelting it out dramatic way -I think hey jude suits this approach myself, but then thats just my opinion.
October 31, 201014 yr It is slow and deep , doesn't sound stagnant but felt and powerful but then I wasn't expecting him to be like anyone else. I did like this version.
November 1, 201014 yr watching the vids on the chaps channel, tc,dsb and dc - honestly, trying from the point of view of not knowing who they are etc..i like darius' best tbh, the deep clear crispess of his vocals and performance just stands out over the orchestra more actually makes more impact for being deeper, plus the way he connects on a personal level, talkig to the audience and ackowledging the ochestra conducor stands out. all in all if people are seeing these videos - a job well done.
November 1, 201014 yr Author He has to keep putting himself out there on all levels. The most recent 3 days-RAH, Manchester, Selsey - sum it up neatly and he's the same considerate and warm guy wherever. Live on stage is where he should be. It's where he comes alive. He has always taken criticism on the chin and if it's warranted, he strives to strengthen whatever perceived weakness there is. Next challenge - the panto,. Hope he doesn't get bitten by the bug like Gerard did. He had never thought about doing panto but when he did, he wanted to keep doing it and cleared his diary for it annually. November 1, 201014 yr He'll take it seriously and do his best - which is always good. I.m really looking forward to hearing him sing the songs in it.
November 1, 201014 yr Author I hope he isn't as the Sunday Mail put it, the 'straight man'. They'd be missing a trick. He can deliver one liners with panache and sometimes they work much better delivered by a character you don't expect them to come from. Edited November 1, 201014 yr by Baytree
November 1, 201014 yr He can - but the prince is usually the straight man. The panto had one of the best comic actorsin and they wouldn't have needed two comics.
November 2, 201014 yr video of Darius talking about Beatles 50th anniv Darius just put it up on his facebook - :D Edited November 2, 201014 yr by prettyinpink
November 2, 201014 yr Author Thanks, pip. It's a great little piece. Naughty boy..doing that.... and as for the other suggestion, well I'm shocked! What does he think his fans are ........slow? Puzzled by the "introduced DSB bit". Wasn't Mike Read the compere?
November 2, 201014 yr i think we know someone who can help him out..think he has seen it by now too lol
November 2, 201014 yr Author He might get invited to the (charity) ball, but he won't get back to THE hall if he doesn't behave himself.
November 2, 201014 yr http://thebiggerissueorg.blogspot.com/2010...ncle-monty.html The bit I was interested in *** Lou Jordan was good, too, as he sang “Don’t Let Me Down” in his British-born and authentic Beatles style. And, “Hey Jude” couldn’t have been sang any better than by Glasgow’s Darius Campbell at age 30. He was striking on stage and his singing gave the huge audience much pleasure I must say.
November 2, 201014 yr Author It's always nice to get some feedback from non-fans re Darius, especially if it's positive. I'm not sure I like the slightly xenophobic slant to parts of it though. Makes me wonder if he'd have written the same about Darius Danesh. The Beatles were British but their music became a global phenomenon, appreciated by all.
November 2, 201014 yr That video re assured me that Darius is completely grown up now. Especially when he hit the gong.
