lol, I just love the way he is so focused and mature, then all excited- hyper after the exhileration of the show. I love that he is always so excited about what he does.

It's a shame that those qualities are often misinterpreted by others as aloofness and arrogance respectively.

Just out of interest, the Beatles catalogue is availab le on ITUNES and Hey Jude is the first in to I-tunes Top 100 at No.94 after just 4 hours on sale, it is now at no.37, maybe top 40 by the weekend, so Darius chose well when he sang it at the albert hall

I remember I nearly played Wings' Band on the Run bald. It was re-releasedrecently too.

 

I think I've still got my tapes of the two Beatles albums which were also released recently. Tbh, I haven't played any Beatles music for yonks although I still find myself singing snatches.

 

The X Factor theme this week is supposed to be "the Beatles". I hope they make a better fist of those than they did of Elton John's music. I'll be visiting again and I know I'll have to sit through it all politely.

Wings..my OH loved them and raves about the album, we watched that band on the run program, I have to admit - I hated them too, I think Mull of Kin Tyre was the only one I liked.

I can't get used to the original version of Hey Jude.

 

For me personally, I'd have preferred Darius to start the song just a fraction higher than he did.

 

I felt the same way about the very beginning of the Impossible Dream and the two Nessun Dorma(s) sung at the beginning of the aria. That said, I can understand the vocal coaches desire to push both ends of his range in PSTOS.

 

I understandtoo that Darius may not want to undo their work and what he gained and will have to keep using those notes. I'm personally just not yet truly into the deepest bass notes he can produce with ease.

So not only was Darius a tenor in his heart - in your heart he was as well.

 

I think he did 'Hey Jude' that way to avoid accusations of a copycat performance. It was totally different and very suited to be done with The Royal Philharmonic

I didn't like the Beatles when they started - well, I liked their first record which wasn't much of a hit but the others seemed so cheesy. When they grew up, I liked their music much more.

No. I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I've always preferred deeper voices but more Johnny Cash than Paul Robeson. Similarly I prefer Bryn Terfel's bass to Dmitri Hvorostovsky's.
