:lol: I think I understand what you mean. I can only listen to the UK radio edit (which is 2:20) and just about does the song justice in that time. The extended mix is five minutes and five minutes of the same loop with occasional change would send me to sleep - it's far too repetitive to keep my attention for that amount of time. Same with 'We No Speak Americao' to a certain extent although at least the extended mix of 'WNSA' builds up a lot better. Hmm, if it's a Marmite song you either it OR hate it. If you like it but not enough to chart it then it's not Marmite, it's just not worthy. :P

There's no denying that 'LTWYL' has been of 2010's defining tracks and I'm sure this is going to continue getting played on music channels/radio for the next 10 years (just like 'Stan' has stook the test of time). I definitely saw the appeal straight away - the week when it first charted at #7 I checked out the song on YouTube and was really impressed considering 'Not Afraid' hadn't been released that long before that particular week. Rihanna's chorus is the selling point but credit to Eminem for some interesting lyrics in the verses and kudos to whoever produced the track, it's fantastic the way it's been produced.

I have to admit I'm really underwhelmed by 'Hands'. There are elements of this track that are actually good but, for me anyways, it feels like they had a good idea but only 2 minutes to finish the song off. So we got this instead something that potentially could've been much better had they spent more time working the track. It just sounds half baked as it is. :(

Indeed. :o It's definitely a first for 2010 where my top 3 has mirrored the UK top 3 yet I posted this before the UK chart had even been announced. :lol: Still, a great diverse top 3 with some motown, pop and dance all mixed together. ^_^ Let's be honest, the UK charts do seem much better at the moment compared to earlier in the year.

Strange that both 'One (Your Name)' and now 'Miami 2 Ibiza' look set to be sleeper hits - tracks I liked but not loads initially yet 'One' ended up peaking at no. 9 and 'Miami 2 Ibiza' could well climb further. I'm over the fact both songs sound so similar, I now think the melody in this track is far superior.

Well, I personally thought The Ting Tings were very inconsistant. :P I never got the big deal over 'That's Not My Name' (and still don't two years later) but I thought 'Great DJ' and 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' were both brilliant tracks worthy of making my top 10 in 2008. 'Hands', as I've said in reply to Nick, just sounds like it's half completed and they just quickly did the track without much thought process - I still reckon there was potential for this to have been a better song but hey ho!!! :(

I knew Cee Lo Green was going to be no. 1 but didn't expect Bruno Mars to overtake Duck Sauce in the closing hours of Saturday. Matt's performance of 'JTWYA' really must've connected with the viewing public who watched The X Factor. Like I just posted in reply to Mikey, I really thought Duck Sauce had #2 in the bag but the power of The X Factor really helped Bruno Mars - and it's continued well into this week. It is a grower but I don't think I could listen to a longer version - in this case the UK radio edit is long enough. :lol:

How much bigger? :o A fortnight at no. 8 is good for my chart. I do like the cheesey charm to this song - maybe it's because it got to no. 4 in my Pre-Release chart you thought it'd peak higher. Well, there's still time for Mohombi to climb. The track seems to be taking off now across Europe too. Still not getting into the UK single with Nelly - seen the video a couple of times but the song just isn't clicking with me.

This was one of the highlights from Unknown Pleasures - it was my third placed track but since then has become the entry I've listened to the most. Interestingly, it's another song that's becoming a hit across Europe. Could continue climbing next week as there's very little in the way of new UK single releases this week that appeal to me.

Yes, a big climb of eleven places. Following on nicely from 'One (Your Name)' which also climbed to its peak. Sometimes this happens in my chart where a song climbs as the tracks grows on me more hence I listen to the song more. The best examples this year have been 'Alors On Danse' and 'Love The Way You Lie' - both tracks eventually climbed to no. 1, Stromae progressing 10-05-03-01 whilst Eminem had a more unusual 02-02-03-03-01 chart run.

 

18 (20) Caro Emerald - Back It Up (20-18) [2 wks]

I've seen this charting in Macedonia (it was no. 1 there a few weeks back) and top 10 in Slovakia. It's not been top 10 in Holland although she's outperformed Michael Jackson 'Thriller' in her native Holland. Her album spent 27 consecutive weeks at no. 1 there beating the 26 weeks set by Michael Jackson in 1983. :o Haven't a clue what the sales are like - I'm sure 'Thriller' must've sold more copies at the time in Holland than what Caro Emerald has sold so far this year. On a final note 'A Night Like This' has climbed to no. 5 in Poland. :D

No I haven't. :o I do prefer 'Hang With Me' much more than 'Dancing On My Own' though. None match the glorious wonder that was 'With Every Heartbeat'.

I feel sorry for Joe in a way because he IS better than Leon Jackson (not could be better, Joe can sing in tune). However, Joe's career (the little of it :P ) has been handled so badly. First there was Simon Cowell choosing 'The Climb' for the winners single (absolutely hidious song choice - of all the songs in the world!!! :manson: ). Rage Against The Machine wiping the floor against Simon Cowell last Christmas. Joe coming out as gay before he's even had chance to build up a fanbase of highly obsessive teenage girls giving them a false sense of "i'm gonna marry Joe" and "i wanna have his babies LOLZ" ( :manson: ). Hey, George Michael got away with it for 15 years. :lol: Then Joe returns with what sounds like a Mika album track. Not exactly a great one either. :( (although 'Ambitions' is incredible when compared to 'Don't Call This Love' by Leon Jackson). I said all along that Joe isn't a popstar, he was born to appear in the West End and once his "pop career" completely flops I suspect this is what Joe will end up doing for a living. I think the final nail in the coffin will be if Olly Murs' second single goes to no. 1 with strong first week sales.

Oh, I agree. The backing music totally makes this song. I actually quite like Tinie Tempah's rapping on the track. It's quite an odd combination of rap over a trance backing but for me it works well and is a welcom change from the generic run-of-the-mill rap tracks.

I've really not got into the song in the way you have then. :lol: What I do like about this song is the backing track - the bleepy synth stuff is brilliant. Sadly the verses and chorus just leave very little to the imagination and as I posted above makes me think this could've been a much better song.

I'm impressed actually, you like a lot of my top 40 - even some of the slightly more obscure tracks that the average Buzzjacker would probably be thinking " :blink: " when they see these tracks. :lol: Anyways, I agree but 'Barbra Streisand' is based around an old Boney M song from 1979 so if a 31 year old track is sounding good in 2010 then will age better. 'Hands' will probably sound dated within 12 months. :lol: It doesn't bode well for The Ting Tings. Lead singles are everything; a flop first single usually means an ever bigger flop follow up. :o
