October 17, 201014 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp?tod...3936&pages= Singles P!nk scores her fifth No.1 single in Australia by debuting at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with “Raise Your Glass”, the lead track from her forthcoming “Greatest Hits… So Far!!!” album, which is due in early November, and should give us another P!nk Christmas. In the past ten years of P!nk charting here in Australia, she has charted with 24 singles in total, and now her 24th is her fifth No.1, giving her a total of eleven weeks amassed at the top from… * Most Girls (1 week, 2-October-2000) * Lady Marmalade (3 weeks, from 14-May-2001) {with Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil’ Kim} * Get the Party Started (2 weeks from 31-Dec-2001) * So What (4 weeks from 22-Sep-2008) * Raise Your Glass (1 week so far from 18-Oct-2010) P!nk has now spent as many weeks at No.1 in Australia as U2, with the same amount of chart toppers (five), and the other acts who have scored five No.1’s include Louis Armstrong, George Michael, Olivia Newton-John, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. “Raise Your Glass” becomes the 969th No.1 in Australia (1940-2010), and it’s been just over three years that we’ve had a No.1 debut knock-off a No.1 debut, as back in September 2007 Delta Goodrem’s “In This Life” knocked off Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls” which had debuted their the previous week, and would reclaim the top spot the following week. “Raise Your Glass” is not only P!nk’s fifth No.1 in Australia but the fifth for her record label LaFace, who were last at the top back in May of this year with Usher’s “OMG”, and considering the label only had two No.1’s in the 2000’s and one in the 90’s, their already equaling their 2000’s amount of No.1’s. It’s the first time the word ‘Raise’ has appeared in a No.1 single, but the third time “Glass” has reached the top, with last one being Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” (April 1979) and the first was “Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)” by John Fred & His Playboy Band (March 1968). But ‘Your’ is now appearing at the top for the 22nd time, the last time being Casey Donovan’s “Listen With Your Heart” (December 2004). So after three weeks at the top, Rihanna drops down to No.2, which pushes Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” to No.3. Three weeks ago, Nelly was sitting just outside of the Top 10, this week he jumps up four places to No.4, and scores his first Top 5 hit in over years, having last been this high in the charts back in January of 2005 when he went to No.1 with “Over and Over”. Nelly’s jump pushes down the rest of the Top 10, with Mike Posner falling one place to No.5 with “Cooler Than Me”, former No.1 “Dynamite” for Taio Cruz is down three places to No.6, and Cee-Lo Green drops a couple of places to No.7 with “F.U.”. B.o.B and Rivers Cuomo drop two spots to No.8 with “Magic”, and also down two places is Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” this week at No.9, whilst rounding out the Top 10 at No.10 is Usher and Pitbull with “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love”. NEW PEAKS: Duck Sauce climb back up to their debut position of No.12 with their dance track “Barbra Streisand”, but the next new peaking track is was down at No.29, which is Scarlett Belle and their second single “Freak Tonight”, which climbs to No.29. Right behind the girls at No.30 is the new single for Eminem and Lil’ Wayne, “No Love”, which climbs twenty-one places from last weeks debut of No.51. Bliss N’ Eso previously peaked at No.39 with their latest track “Addicted”, but this week they climb four places to a new peak of No.38. Enrique Iglesias is up twenty places to No.41 with the second single from his “Euphoria” album (TW-94) entitled “Heartbeat”, and also breaking into the Top 50 is Swedish DJ Adrian Lux with his track “Teenage Crime”, up nine places to No.49. Finally Adam Lambert climbs a few places to No.46 with his third single “For Your Entertainment”, which should go higher once his November national tour commences. This past year Pitbull has scored two Top 3 singles as a guest vocalist, “I Like it” for Enrique Iglesias (HP-2) and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” (HP-3) for Usher, and this week he debuts at No.16 with “Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor)” featuring T-Pain, and this is the first taste of new material from his forthcoming sixth studio album “Planet Pit” which is due in the first week of December. With Pitbull’s guest appearances and self-made chart hits, this is his tenth ARIA Singles Chart appearance. Jessica Mauboy debuts at No.19 with the title track from her third album “Get ‘em Girls”, featuring guest vocals from Snoop Dogg, the album is due in the first week of November, and this is Jessica’s seventh charting single. Also debuting with the title track from their third album is Taylor Swift, who debuts at No.20 with “Speak Now”, her album due in late October. This is Taylor’s eighth charting single here in Australia, and joins “Mine”, which is at No.32 this week. L.A. Rap quartet Far East Movement debut at No.33 with their first ARIA Chart Entry “Like a G6”, which is currently Top 10 in Canada and the U.S. A G4 is a Gulfstream IV private jet, so the group wanted to be “flyer than a G4, so we went with a G6”. The chorus features a sample of “Booty Bounce” by Dev, and he and indie-pop duo The Cataracs appear as guest acts on this track. Ronan Keating has been one of the four judges on the second Australian series of X-Factor, and this past Monday he and two of his Boyzone members did two performances on the show, one of which debuts inside the Top 50 at No.42, “Gave it All Away”. The song was written by Mika, and shared lead vocals are by Ronan and Stephen Gately, who passed away just over a year ago, and the song is a tribute to him. “Gave it All Away” has reached No.1 in Ireland and Top 10 in the England and Scotland, and it’s the groups first chart appearance here in just under eleven years, having last made the ARIA Charts in November 1999 with the No.56 single “Baby Can I Hold You”. The album its featured on, “Brother” re-enters at No.34, beating it’s original April 2010 peak of No.63. The fourth ARIA Singles Chart entry for 3OH!3 debuts at No.48 entitled “Double Vision”. It’s the second single from their second album “Streets of Gold”, following on from “My First Kiss” (feat Ke$ha) (TW-out after 21 weeks) which peaked at No.13. Below Top 50: Re-entering last week was Travie McCoy’s second solo single “We’ll Be Alright”, which this week leaps up twenty-nine places to a new peak of No.51. Amy Meredith is up ten places to No.58 with their latest single “Young at Heart”. Sparkadia again climb to new heights with their single “Talking Like I’m Falling Down Stairs”, this week its up to No.75. We also say goodbye to the two longest charting singles in ARIA History, as Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face” exits after accumulating 104 weeks in the Top 100, and after 98 consecutive weeks in the chart, Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” drops out this week, but with ‘Sex & The City 2’ due out on DVD the first week of November, it might help the song back into the charts to complete it’s two year total. So now the oldest song in the charts falls to the 71 weeks racked up by “I Gotta Feeling” for The Black Eyed Peas (TW-56). Akon debuts at No.62 with “Angel”, the first new material from his upcoming fourth studio album “Akonic”. Justin Bieber debuts at No.65 with his latest track from his “My Worlds” album (TW-46) called “U Smile”. Kanye West enters at No.72 with his new single “Runaway”, and the final lower RnB track to debut comes in at No.88, “Bottoms Up” by Trey Songz. Swedish House Mafia reached No.86 in August with their first ARIA Chart entry “One (Your Name)”, and this week they enter at No.79 with their new track “Miami 2 Ibiza”. Michael Buble is re-issuing his “Crazy Love” album soon with the new bonus track “Hollywood”, which debuts at No.91 this week, followed closely behind at No.92 by another California locale, Train with the lead-track from their current album “Save Me, San Francisco” (album TW-21). Albums The third album for British metalcore band Bring Me the Horizon is the new No.1 album in Australia entitled, “There is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it. There is a Heaven, Let’s Keep it a Secret”, the same place it entered in the UK Metal Charts (No.13 on mainstream UK Album Charts), and it debuted at No.17 on the Billboard album charts. Bring Me the Horizon become the 33rd English Group to hit the top, The Gorillaz being the last back in March this year and they’re the 60th English act to reach No.1 with the 124th English Performed Album, plus the album is the 296th No.1 in Australia (1965-2010) by a group. The eighteen words in the albums title makes it the winner of ‘Most words in an Album Title at No.1’, beating the previous record holder with eleven words for Jack Johnson’s “Sing A Long and Lullabies: Songs from the Film Curious George (February 2006). I won’t go through all the words in the title, but some of note include ‘Hell’ hitting the top twice previously, both from Meat Loaf with “Bat Out of Hell” (June 1978) and “Bat Out of Hell 2: Back into Hell” (September 1993). It’s only the second ‘Secret’ at the top, the other being Carly Simon’s “No Secrets” (March 1973) and it’s the first No.1 appearance for both ‘Heaven’ and ‘Believe’. The Script’s promo visit has helped their second album “Science & Faith” to climb to a new peak of No.2 this week (previous peak was No.3 when it debuted), and after four weeks at the top, Linkin Park drop down to No.4 with “A Thousand Suns”, which pushes last weeks No.2 “Recovery” by Eminem down to No.5 this week. Katy Perry drops three places to No.7 with her “Teenage Dream” album, but with the albums third single “Fireworks” going to radio this week, it might hold onto the Top 10 for a few more weeks. Birds of Tokyo are down two places to No.8 with their self-titled album, and local duo Angus and Julia Stone are up one place to No.9 with “Down the Way”, plus they debut at No.26 with their “iTunes Live: Live from Sydney” download album. Last week marked John Lennon’s birthday, and his latest Greatest Hits collection “Power to the People-The Hits” climbs sixteen places to No.10, plus its has helped his Christmas 1971 No.1 single “Imagine” to re-enter at No.85 this week, helping it rack up it’s fortieth week in the Australian charts. It was last on the ARIA Charts back in May 2008 when it reached No.94 for a single week. New Zealand singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser debuts at No.3 with her third album entitled “Flags”. Her 2004 album “What to Do with Daylight” peaked at No.85 (Oct 04), whilst her second album “Albertine” debuted and peaked at No.29, spending 25 weeks on the charts from April 2007. Now this week she scores her first Top 10 album entry here in Australia. In 2004, Robbie Williams released his Greatest Hits collection which spent nine weeks at the top, and was the Christmas No.1 for that year achieving 8xPlatinum during it’s 118 week chart run. This week he issues his second Best of collection which debuts at No.6 entitled “In and Out of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990 to 2010”. The 39 track 2CD set features all of his hits, plus some Take That tracks, and the new single “Shame” which he performs with former band mate Gary Barlow, and “Shame” recently hit the Top 70 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The ninth studio album for local act You Am I is self-titled and debuts at No.18 this week. Lead track from the album is entitled “Shuck”, and the groups ARIA Album Chart history is below… Alb Entry Date HP WI/Tally Titles A1 20-Feb-94 61 23a SOUND AS EVER A2 5-Mar-95 (1) 1 18a HI FI WAY A2 15-Oct-95 92 2 / 20 HI FI WAY ® A2 17-Dec-95 70 2a / 22 HI FI WAY ® A3 7-Jul-96 (1) 1 39 HOURLY DAILY ARIA Album of the Year-1996 A3 10-Aug-97 92 2 / 41 HOURLY DAILY ® A4 7-Jun-98 (1) 1 20a YOU AM I'S #4 RECORD L1 27-Sep-99 7 5 SATURDAY NIGHT, 'ROUND TEN A5 7-May-01 3 8 DRESS ME SLOWLY A6 7-Oct-02 12 4 DELIVERANCE G1 22-Sep-03 12 6 THE CREAM AND THE CROCK-THE BEST OF A7 22-May-06 11 7 CONVICTS A8 22-Sep-08 12 4 DILETTANTES A9 18-Oct-10 16 1* YOU AM I The third album from local act The Audrey’s enters the ARIA Album Charts at No.28 entitled “Sometimes the Stars”. And another third album by a group, Alter Bridge, entitled AB III enters at No.35. Paramore started their Australian national tour last week, and their former No.1 album “Brand New Eyes” (No.1, 53 weeks ago) rebounds forty places to No.32 this week. And right behind them, ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ runner-up Cam Henderson climbs twelve places to No.33 with his debut album “Angel Without Wings”. Edited October 17, 201014 yr by Mark.
