A pretty reliable insider on Popjustice (to the best of my memory) was the one who stated that.

I believe it - Lucas Secon who produced the song produces and then shops his songs around to various labels and artists. He doesn't create songs specifically for anybody, so it's pretty likely that Get Outta My Way was indeed offered to a variety of popstars. He even said himself he gave it to Kylie on the assurance that she would use it as the closing song on tour.

People are acting OTT. 1 flop single and here career is over. I suppose Madonnas career is over now in the UK since Hard Candy didnt go platinum over here. The project isnt even over. Lets see whats happens. Noone knows what they have planned. Even if its doesnt go platinum. Tough. Her career is far from over. I dont even support the Taio Cruz song. I think it is a bit desperate but why not try it. If it works great. If not then at least something was tried. Its only because of her age that people think its wrong. And since when did Taio Cruz not need it? His albums hardly sell. In fact they are $h!t sellers. The 2nd single didnt live up to the hype, we all know that. But its hardly made her stop being relevant.

Of course people have heard it, it was a smash hit a few months ago.

That is quite good :o

I think Grant means 'Dirty Picture', Danny - He's never heard 'Dirty Picture' :P

Grant, 'Dirty Picture' is pretty amazing in my eyes. I'm pretty sure Aly's a fan of the song too, so it's a good thing :D

Oh and Slick I see what you mean and what you're getting at, but I guess I don't count as i'm not really a big fan of Kylie bar a handful of singles and her latest era :P

Shhh, my name ia Regina :kink:

Well I see your point Dannyboy but in regards to Madonna her career-spanning, highly hyped GH 'only' sold Platinum and I would almost certainly say that, perhaps aside from lead singles, her success isn't going to last much longer and sadly I think Kylie is in the same boat now. All momentum from this project is dead.

In fairness to Kylie though that could be because the label waited a STUPIDLY long time to release GOOMW and not because the public are 'over' her.

Sorry to sound a little silly here but is selling millions of albums and singles really the most important thing?

Sure, it is nice but at the end of the day, we have her best album in a long time (perhaps her best yet) isn't that good enough?

I know on the business side it isn't good enough and she needs to sell quite well and make money not lose it

but on a fans basis, we should be happy. Plus, the tour will surely be

a big hit, Kylie is famous for her shows. That should bring in money and some more sales.

I doubt Kylie will stop making records if they don't do that well, Alanis Morissette hasn't. Her sales have fallen drastically since Jagged Little Pill but she still

releases stuff. Not really the same genre as Kylie but the basics are the same.

Feel free to ignore this, just my (weird) views on the matter.

We're in for 'Dirty Picture' part two guys.

I can see Kylie now, dancing on a toilet in the video

I wasnt talking about the GH. I was talking about Hard Candy which only went Gold in the UK. I think the record company were thinking Get outta my way was gonna be big. Obviously it wasnt. Love to be a fly on the wall in that place now lol. But please dont talk about me being a loon or that you dont have an opinion in here. Im all about facts and love a good debate, infact I encourage it. I dont just stick up for Kylie because she is Kylie. Im very objective about her, always have been.

Yes, you mentioned that Hard Candy only went Gold (actually it scaped Platinum though, didn't it?), but your point was that she's only had one flop. My point was that the GH was a second successive flop project.

Regina you're right mostly, it's about the quality and this is KYLIE so even if the album didn't sell another copy we'd get another one in a year or two. Although in regards to touring the label don't make any money from that. The profits go to the tour promoters and Kylie herself.

Did Celebration not sell around 500K? Not too shabby but granted, not great for Madonna.

I never knew that about the tour :o I'm too naive  well, maybe Kylie can fund her next album :heehee: If it all goes tits up.

Back to this single, it should be a Brandon Flowers duet that Kylie does. He is relevant too and it would be an epic song :( :kink:

Id much prefer a Brandon Flowers duet. The Taio Cruz one just doesnt seem right. Just like the Madonna/Timbaland one didnt seem right. Its just trying to hard.

Kylie's career's not over  Far from it.

I don't know how the album's done in terms of sales, but people need to think a number 1 album with a massive first single is not a flop (if you want to know what a flop is look at Xtina), and although GOOMW didn't exactly set the chart's alight, it was hardly bad enough to signify her career's over.

Kylie is fine, she has many more years to come in my opinion. She's a national gem, and we have christmas coming up which should see a rise in sales ^_^

Whoo! :cheer:

You mean 4 Minutes? I thought that was pretty good

I cringed for her. She only went with them because they were the it thing. Just like Kylie is now going with Taio Cruz. But I suppose older acts who have a set fan base have to at some point to broaden their appeal

Kylie should duet with someone because she wants to, not because they are the "in thing" and would guarantee a huge hit. It seems slightly desperate.

Brandon Flowers feat. Kylie Minogue would be a much wiser choice, a rocky-ish artsit and Pop Royalty. It could be another Where The Wild Roses Grow.

Taio Cruz feat. Kylie Minogue could end up like that All I See with Mims :puke:

Why wont she just duet with someone with talent? :drama:

Sorry to go on about Brandon -_-

I do have to point out that Kylie's effect has waned over quite a bit. If sales aren't a good enough indicator, look at the tour, they haven't announced extra dates but she has no problem filling up a stadium, so what's holding Parlophone from announcing more dates? Having said that, I can't say it's a flop technically but compared with Kylie who used to sell plenty, I can only say that the sales is going fairly well.

On the other hand, 200K and you can make it to Top 30 YTD chart so far, so it's now mid-October, that just means that everyone is in a dire state right now. A smash single on the chart doesn't really mean anything because it is the sales that should be looked at, instead of the chart position. Many artists' biggest-selling albums come from those which never went to Top 10 but being consistently on Top 75 for over a year, Scissor Sisters did that, so did KT Tunstall.

To be honest, I think the biggest problem really lies in her fanbase, her fans are aging which is a problem that she can't overcome. Kylie can't do everything on anything right?

Speaking of this single, I really don't have any expectation since it's Taio Cruz. :puke2:

By the way, this is the first time that Kylie ever release an album in the middle of the year instead of November, I think that it should be noted as well. :)

Her first album was released in July :)

As for sales. X was released at christmas, thats why it sold as much as it did. Aphrodite was released in summer so the album had to have legs. It hasnt yet so lets give it time. We are only onto the 3rd single and not even into the xmas market. And as for the tour. She used to sell out because they were very affordable. If people thought it was gonna sell just as well at £60-85 then its quite delusional thinking. Im not making excuses btw. Just stating facts. Still selling out but not as fast and prob wont overall. I agree with everything else though

And just to remind people about the fact that Kylie has never become a big-selling artist, LY sold 480K, BL about 400K, and X about 465K.

HOLD THE PHONE PEOPLE! :P Taio and Kylie will be amazing. Guaranteed. THIS is the song she's recording a verse for...

So don't write the collaboration off as a '4 Minutes' "disaster" (even though I adore 4M :P).

Gorgeous song
