Snow Patrol is one of those bands that is easy to love. Between their and catchy choruses and obvious raw talent, they surely will make their way onto your iTunes most played list. It’s no wonder that Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars” was named the most played song of the decade.

The song was played nonstop on pop radio stations and only became more and more popular as time went on. The lyrics are sung clearly and are easy to remember. It’s the type of song that everyone can sing along to and find meaning in because the lyrics aren’t overly abstract or too specific.

“Chasing Cars,” which was released in 2006, found its way onto the popular television show One Tree Hill back in May of 2006 and then shortly after on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. The television exposure clearly helped Snow Patrol gain popularity. “Chasing Cars” beat out The Killers’ “Mr Brightside” and “I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor” by Arctic Monkeys.
