He should be quite well known to the people of Buzzjack now that two of his singles have been entered for both BJSC and BJUP respectively; and now finally, John O'Regan aka Diamond Rings, has released his debut album Special Affections in the US. The tracklist;

01 – Play By Heart

02 – Wait And See

03 – On Our Own

04 – You And Me

05 – Give It Up

06 – Pre-Owned Heart

07 – Something Else

08 – You Oughta Know

09 – It’s Not My Party

10 – All Yr Songs

Highlighted are the songs that have already been released as singles (You Oughta Know being the B-Side to the wonderful Show Me Stuff, a glaring obmission).

But I've already got over that mild annoyance now that I've started listening through: Play By Heart's tribal beat is magical, showing a different side to his sound from the start while On Our Own is beautiful and wistful, complete with a subtle yet infectious hook :wub: This album will have to dip dramatically for me to think it is anything other than stunning.

Also, here is the video for third single Something Else. I wasn't aware this even exsisted until I checked his Myspace just now, so I'm yet to listen to it myself, although it looks like it is guitar based.

I've had this album for a while now and it's really a big grower. As indie pop goes it's wonderful but it's a shame there isn't more along the lines of Show Me Your Stuff. But, to be fair, it would stick out SO much given it really doesn't fit on the album.

It sounds like it will be a grower, as you said, there is nothing as outlandish as Show Me Your Stuff, but I still think there are hooks in there that are just as catchy, but not so much in your face. Not to mention I love his lyrics, as a whole I find his music to be extremely relatable.

Funny enough, I was just about to check his tour schedual to see if he was coming over here, but I was doubtful, as I didn't think he would have enough of a fanbase here to do a show. I really want to see him, especially at those prices, but I've never been to a gig before and would be nervous/feel stupid to go on my own, although I did check the Lexington website to see if they have tickets left, but it doesn't come up on the advance booking. How did you get yours?

Alas, I'm too impoverished to go! Well, I might get tickets eventually seeing as I'm free the next morning, but it depends if anything comes up before then/when I get my student grant through. Do you not know anybody who you think might be interested in going too?

I'd imagine it'd be the sort of crowd where you could just blend in even if you can't find anybody else to go with...
