I really dont get why people keep hinting at these been 2008 releases. I know they are. But this is based on the best selling songs of 2009. Doesnt matter when they were released.

 

I know why they had to be included and quite right they should to otherwise it wouldn't be an acuurate shortlist, but for my voting criteria I'd rather a song that was first popular in 2009 or late v. late 2008 be the winner.

Well, ultimately, these were the 40 best-selling songs of 2009, so you could say they were the 40 most popular songs of 2009, regardless of when they were released.

 

Like, I know that Don't Stop Believin' was released decades ago, but I'll always think of it as a 2009/2010 song. Plus, there's all those album tracks. Like Alejandro first charted in December 2009, but it's a song I'd associate with like July 2010.

 

Also, we should get another one of these started in January after we know what the 40 best-selling songs this year are! We could do one for the top 40 of the 2000s decade too. :lol:

Shouldnt your voting critera be you least favourite song based on the options available, no matter when it was released, since thats what the poll is asking for lol

Only if Dannyboy took out all the reality (well, winners singles at least, not stuff like Bleeding Love) and charity/novelty crap, then it'd be fun. :P Though I'm sure the (mostly better) tracks from the start of the decade would go out early, leaving loads of 2007-2009 stuff at the end.

Im actually thinking of doing one of these for every year for the last decade so we have one winner from each year. Then put 10 songs into a decade elimination. But I think from now on ill elimiate 2 every round since people think this goes on for too long lol

I think one per round is fine, personally.

 

But if you do decide to change the rules, I think they should stay consistent all the way through. It's annoying when you're doing a game like this, and then randomly you get like a "Quintuple elimination round!!!", and it completely messes up the results (sort of thing that happens in Big Brother :lol:).

I agree. I prefer keeping it to 1 per round but some people think it goes on to long this way

I like it being one per round as well, it's something to look forward to on a daily basis, plus I think we get fairer results this way.

I think everybody's entitled to their reason for voting for something, I like both SOF and Use Somebody, but the idea of them finishing higher on the poll of last year's best songs than some of the other songs I like, bothers me a little :wacko: as I would prefer them to finish higher on the 2008 list. I know, I know. I'm very awkward. Doesn't like my way's the mainstream though :lol:
