Am in town that day for Calendar girls at the kings :)

But good to see he will be home for a bit.

Not for too long though he is suppose to be doing a gig in LA on the 8th

Noticed an advert on TV today for Joe's new album following on from PSTOS. Need I ask why this didn't happen for Darius? Sue
yup, saw that.elderflower does classical..didnt sound spectacular either..how i wish darius would have recorded something...

Darius and Natasha must be gaining popularity over in LA..... on the IMDb board Natasha has now gone up from the Top 5000 into the Top 500 and Darius has gone up 12,356 places into the Top 5000.... wonder what they are both up to??!!

The Angel of Death has now been cast in Paradise Lost, so I hope that is not the part D was hoping to get!!

Julie

The Angel of Death is probably Gabriel.

He and Raphael feature quite a bit in Paradise Lost. However, when Hollywood get hold of stories, there's sometimes a lot of poetic licence.

Darius is a good actor. It would be a major coup if he is cast in a good role in a major blockbuster.

I think he'd just count himself really blessed if so, and if not, he'd simply keep reading scripts until he found another he'd like to do and repeat the process.

Hi BT :hi: The Angel of Death is Abdiel. I hope D is trying for Beelzebub - I think he becomes Lucifer's 'right-hand man'?? D was born to be on the big screen and, as you say, if he doesn't get his chosen role in PL he will just keep on trying. He is certainly on the 'right road' and mixing with all the right people  I don't think we will have to wait long (famous last words!! :D)

Julie

Waiting is what we do spectacularly well.

Yes indeed! If only we had a choice though

True, we may not be getting many gigs from Darius in the near future, but the Americans might. Looks like Darius is ready to gig further afield than LA now.

He has a new band and an agent in New York who seems to be for live performances and tours. His genre is described as jazz/contemporary pop, which sounds much like the set he played recently at Vibrato's.

He's doing a showcase at the Western Arts Alliance Conference (for all kinds of people involved in performance arts, especially booking agents planning their 2012-13 seasons) in Seattle on 31st August.

Then, of course he'll be in Glasgow on 3rd September.

On the 8th September, Darius will surpass himself by being in two cities at once. We know he's listed on the calendar for Vibrato's, LA but he's also down to do a showcase at the Midwest Arts Conference in Minneapolis at 9.45pm.

My geography is pretty weak but I think something will have to give there.

lol, I don't think we do it well - well I don't. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

thanks bt, looks like his agents in US arent much better than those here - Darius says he doesnt know what he will be doing half the time, so its down to them I would suppose..to double book is not good, he cant let the jazz club down as he seems to be a regular, and that is important, but the other gig is too - he needs to do live performances as much as possible so if he has to cancel one that is another missed opportunity surely, it annoys me over here, but to be happening at the start of his US appearances is more so

Right hand, left hand?

I do like the description of Darius though..........sums him up quite neatly.

A Renaissance Man who looks like James Bond and sounds like Nat King Cole.

Bridget Jones the Musical

Sheridan Smith to star in Bridget Jones the Musical

It looks like Bridget Jones the Musical is going into the West End some time in spring 2012. The show has been in workshops and pre-production for some time now. Lily Allen has been busy writing the lyrics and it now seems certain that Sheridan Smith will play Bridget. Sheridan has been playing the role in the workshops and now seems set to take it into a London theatre.

I think it has all the makings of a great hit. Lily Allen is nothing if not smart and sassy. Hopefully her witty lyrics will fit really well with the story of Bridget and her Mr Darcy.

Casting the two male leads, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth in the film) and Daniel Cleaver, (Hugh Grant in the film) will be tricky. They need two equally gorgeous but very different English men.

Fantasy Casting

So let’s play fantasy casting. Who would you cast?

Mark Darcy – tricky but I think I’d go for Mark Umbers. Last seen on the West End stage in Sweet Charity, playing not one but three roles as Charity’s boyfriends. He is from Yorkshire, but don’t hold it against him. He can carry off gawky and awkward yet gorgeous really well and he has a great voice.

Daniel Cleaver – much harder to cast. Don’t shoot me but I might go for Darius Campbell. Remember him? Last seen in epic turkey Gone With the Wind. The fail wasn’t his fault. He has a good voice and I think his experience as Rhett Butler would have prepared him for playing the lovable cad Cleaver in Bridget Jones the Musical.

Those are my favourites but who would you choose?

To be more mundane the roles have been played in the workshops by Bertie Carvel, Julian Ovenden and Michael Xavier. Michael Xavier is favourite to play Daniel.

I take it you didn't see 'Gone With The Wind', polly? It was excellent/ The critics didn't like it before they'd heard a word of it. This re telling that it was a bad play keeps going on. It really annoys me. I wish more of the people who saw and enjoyed it would keep reiterating how good it was. All of the cast, not just Darius. Still, Darius is unlikely to do this show either as he really wants to get his music heard again
No didnt get chance to b4 it was cancelled. wud of loved to though.
