Recording partly in London and partly in LA last I heard. Good to see him taking a part in a musical again - hopefully, while he gets the album finished

I wouldn't hold your breath for the 3rd album recording ladies :( but at least our man's back in town. Off to check schedule, train times and hotel rooms. Anyone fancy a meet up? :)

Hi

Have just read about Darius appearing in Chicago. Hope it goes well for him and hope you enjoy seeing him again. I think he will be great.

from Dindy (a Gareth fan)

I am soo pleased for Darius

But I not sure I will be able to go and see him not sure about work and time off lol

There are weekend performances Claire ;) Hope you get chance to travel down if you can :)

"Cheap" train tickets and hotels are still expensive :( but it's L'Oréal and he's worth it :yahoo:

Looks like the kids will have to manage without Christmas presents again this year  so pleased we don't have any kids :D

What days are people going? I can't get there for the first showing(Meg say hi to D for us :) ) but I'd really like to meet up with some D fans when I do go as it's always easier when D's busy making the ladies swoon for me to "pretend" to be cool about seeing him

I have to see how my Mum is before I arrange anything. I hope I get to meet people but staying 'til the end would be difficult.
Brilliant news!! I only went away for two days and something happened! I'll have to go away more often. :) I feel an early Christmas present coming on. Sue
Be great to meet up with everyone but feeling a bit broke at the moment

Matinee should work for you Meg, Friday's 5pm start and Saturday's 3pm start :) You could be home before 9pm, not too late for your mum's bedtime is it?

Let me know if I can help Nina :)

Most weekends are still out,Paul. David's away for most of them. I'm positive I'll fit at least one in. I was glad THBB was last year as it'd have been really difficult this year.
Thanks for the thought Paul

Darius's Flynn 'based on Cowell'

(UKPA) – 4 hours ago

Chicago star Darius Campbell has revealed he's based his portrayal of scheming lawyer Billy Flynn on his old mentor, Simon Cowell.

Darius, who was known as Darius Danesh when he made his first bid for TV fame in ITV show Popstars, also appeared in the first Pop Idol, which was eventually won by Will Young.

He is reprising his role as Flynn, who makes his clients into celebrities in a bid to win over the jury, opposite Ugly Betty star America Ferrera in the musical set in prohibition-era Chicago.

Darius said: "He's the consummate businessman and a wonderful guy and there's a lot of Simon Cowell in Billy Flynn in terms of the way he approaches things and I recognise that in terms of the character."

He said shows like the X Factor made "entertainment out of people's tragedy and desperation", but admitted he still watched them and credited Simon with persuading him to take on the role in Chicago in the first place.

He said: "I'm incredibly grateful for the experiences I've had and all the opportunities that it opened up and to be able to call Simon Cowell a friend and to be able to have dinner with him."

Darius, who also appeared in Guys And Dolls and Gone With The Wind in the West End, is planning his next album after his run in Chicago finishes and said it will be a "modern take on crooning", influenced by Cole Porter.

Chicago reopens at the Garrick Theatre in London's West End on Monday November 7.

Sue, the nearest hotel seems to be Charing Cross hotel. It's half the distance to the theatre that The Strand Palace Hotel is. It looks expensive though

We met Darius in London tonight. We had no idea he would be there. We were only in that place as we were looking at hotels for Sue. He shouted and came running up to us. It was such a surprise, He said he was delighted to see us and couldn't believe his eyes. We weren't looking but it made the night very special. Link to photo

Thanks Meg. I'm discovering that all the prices are expensive, but the last time we stayed over night in London was when Darius was in GWTW so I suppose I shoulld have expeceted the increase.

So glad you bumped into Darius. Wonder what the odds were on that happening? It must have been fate. Sue

I think it was more him recognising us and running out ( I don't know out of where because we were just walking). If he hadn't we'd have just carried on walking. Made the night very good though. Nina's grin was unbelievably wide. I think I'd have carried on walking even after he called without her there to react. I'm just useless when I'm focussed on something else.
