And this list is soon to be added to with a new #2 position - either Progress or Be Here Now (if it is overtaken). :D

Thanks to Better_Man at UKMIX.

this might be a stupid question but is that the debut week?

Yes - the List above shows the 1st WEEK'S UK Sales of each of those Albums.

Which means that all of the Sales have to be from those Albums 'Debut Weeks'.

Yes - the List above shows the 1st Day's UK Sales of each of those Albums.

Which means that all of the Sales have to be from those Albums 'Debut Weeks'

as well - because the 1st Day is Day 1 of their Debut Week. (It is impossible for it

not to be).

Erm, the list above shows the 1st WEEK's UK Sales of each of those albums, not the first day's sales.

love the specificness. And also your sig:

"This site is a means to communication for me - I find information, other people's opinions, I express my own opinion and have a laugh. It is not some sort of shop window where I want to post pictures of myself, constantly parade my Top 5 singles of the week to which no one really cares and show pictures of my favourite artists - who I don't like because of their appearance anyway.

But each to their own."

Bert for Lashes - I'm aware that the List is for 1st WEEK'S Sales.

I was very tired, when I did the Post saying they were 1st Day's Sales.

I've now written it as I would have done, had I actually been concentrating.

I admit - it was a pretty stupid/silly error, really.

lol now i wonder how it'd be like if Oasis, Coldplay, Take That all crashed together to have album released in the same week hehehe :P

would be epic lol

anyway really shocked about the progress...already #30 of the fastest selling album even if they release on friday lol good for them

i reckon they will sell 500K-560K in the first week...hardly can they sell more than that in the first week...otherwise if more than that...it'd probably close to the Oasis record :P

Progress is No. 1 on amazon in Germany.....it'll be released on Friday. Not bad considering there hasn't been any serious promotion. Sales will be huge here as well. It'll definately be Take That's biggest album ever.......
When will we get new info about sales for the album?

Next half hour hopefully. Although I wouldn't be surprised if MW didn't even bother giving sales.

We won't get sales for today they are always in the mid reports every Tuesday. Unless someone kind enough from the music industry pops in here :(

A poster on Haven has claimed 'Progress' is now on 305K - how true this is I don't know.

I know the member :D that seems genuine to me.

still big sales after 2 days!

but it must have been pretty front loaded to have a 70% sales drop after it's second day on release.

235 day1

70k day2

It was the biggest pre-order in history so it certainly was very much front loaded.

70% drop is no real surprise - The Circus dropped by 65% on the second day - and it sold nowhere near as many on the first day.

Let's take a look at 'The Circus' midweek figures:

Tue: 133K

Wed: 204K

Thu: 256K

No more midweeks given but as we know it sold 432K by the end of the week.

So it sold:

Mon: 133K

Tue: 71K (65% drop)

Wednesday: 52K (37% drop)

and then a further 176,000 on Thursday, Friday and Satruday.

Progress:

Monday: 235K

Tue: 70K (70% drop)

So far 'Progress' sold 100K more first day - this 100K lead remains on the second day too. The Circus sold well over twice it's Tuesday figure by the Sunday - So by all accounts 'progress' album is almost certainly going to sell over 600,000 copies by Sunday.

The OCC tell me that 'Be Here Now' definitely sold 424,000 UK copies

on Day 1, in 1997. (Thursday August 21st). Alan Jones was told 356,000,

which he reported in the 30th August 1997, 'Music Week'.

However, there was Sales Data missing, & it came in, (to The OCC),

later that Week - 68,000 further Sales, giving the Oasis Album 424,000

1st Day Sales.

Yesterday, The OCC mistakenly, (at first), used the lower 1997 1st

Day Sale, (356,000), which they 'rounded' down to 350,000. They then

realised their mistake, & put out a 2nd Press Release, with the 424,000

1st Day Sale in it.

Either way, 'Progress', & its 235,000 1st Day Sale, did not beat the Oasis

Album. As 'Be Here Now' sold 424,000 on Day 1, the Take That Album sold

189,000 copies less.

We will see how well 'Progress' does outside the UK, & Ireland. If it can't sell

at least 2 Million outside the British Isles, (UK/Ireland), then we are looking at

just about the biggest UK Group ever, who could not achieve close to the same

Sales, & Chart placings, elsewhere. I can't think of any other - not a UK Group

with 11 No.1 Singles, & about to have their 6th No.1 Album.

ave it Oasis

424k One day sales thats nearly twice what TT sold yesterday and people are going crazy for the latter figure.

Oasis record wont be beaten :) unless they shift another 395K+ copies today. making them over the 696k oasis sold in 3days!!!

thanks for the clarification Zeus. Although i really hate these re-writes, always seem fishy to me

tbf, 235k is still absolutely exceptional and is probably the 2nd largest ever, even if some way behind. Even TT don't have the Ubiquity Oasis had at that one point, and Oasis were still riding the crest of their last album then really, The Circus has kind of been and gone. I think Oasis also have the potential to appeal to more people. Not that TT music isn't broad, its just they're not as credible- its always ok and cool to like a rock band but loads of ppl may not buy TT even if they like the sound as they wouldn't want to buy a "BoyBand" album

because it is 2010 and not 1997.

13 years make a huge difference in music industry.

My prediction up the spout then :o I'd say 500-550k now, I still think its truly massive week will come closer to Christmas (I'd have thought 400-500k for that massive week, but perhaps closer to 600k may be more likely :o)
