05/12/2010 - Take That Marks A Year At Number One

Take That’s Progress makes it a third week at number one in the Official Albums Chart today and gives the band a career tally of a phenomenal 52 weeks at number one in the UK’s Official Singles and Albums Chart together, the Official Charts Company reports. Take That are just the eighth act in chart history to achieve this feat.

Progress, which has already notched up multi-platinum sales of over 900,000 since it was released last month is a strong contender for biggest selling album of 2010. It already occupies the number two slot in the Official Albums Chart of the year so far, behind Lady Gaga’s The Fame which was released in 2009.

I'm very impressed with this, their third week sales. Just a 35K drop on last week's. I thought they'd do about 120K - 150K. They'll have a peak or two in the run up to Christmas I should imagine.

Olly Murs did fantastic!

I agree Olly done great and i have to say ollys new single is catchy!

Sales for progress will start to rise i think again in the next 2-3 weeks and i would love if they managed to stay at number 1 right through the christmas period.

To date its 3 times platnum hopefully by year end it will be at least 5 times platnum.

Progress is already 4x platinum in the UK.

Its only 3 times platnum, 300,000 is platnum, so its sold just over 900,000 copies making it 3 times platnum,

Isnt't the"platinum" status for the shifted album number rather than for the sold albums?

To be honest im not 100% sure i thought if an album was certified platnum it meant 300,000 sold, you could be very right when you say its 300,000 bought in by shops etc.

Take That Surges To Euro Albums Chart Summit

December 03, 2010 - Global | Retail | Rock and Pop

By Paul Sexton, London

British pop five-piece Take That has Europe's new No. 1 album with "Progress" (Polydor/Universal), replacing Rihanna's "Loud," but the Barbadian star's "Only Girl (In The World)" (Def Jam/Universal) moves into a fifth week atop the pan-European Hot 100 Singles chart.

"Progress," Take That's first album since Robbie Williams returned to the fold, moves 8-1 on European Albums after securing a second week at No. 1 in the United Kingdom, adding 208,000 sales to its century-best start in the territory of 518,000. It falls 1-2 in Denmark and Ireland, but now adds debuts of No. 1 in Germany and No. 2 in Austria.
