I completely agree, Stevvy. If TT album sales are stagnant, then it's a glorious achievement to be this stagnant. It's a testament to the quality of their output that they are able to maintain such a large fanbase.

I'm of the opinion that even if they didn't sell one more copy of Progress, this Progress era (album + tour) would have to be considered a great success. There's a very limited number of acts that can sell their albums and stadium tours in these numbers.

Oh don't get me wrong - I think its very good that an act can sell an album to the same 2 million people each time. They are lucky to have a very loyal and faithful fanbase.

Selling 2 million albums to the same people is a huge positive in my opinion, that shows that the people are haappy with the previous album and happy with the material all round. This is where so many acts struggle, you buy an album on the back of strong singles and the rest of the album is crap, when that happens me i never buy an album from the act again and i dont think im alone either. Look at acts like Duffy, huge selling album and then a flop follow up, razorlight, kaiser chiefs are other acts who have had successful album followed by relative flops, take that like others in the field have avoided that which is an achievement.

Take That to be fair have made progress in terms of sales if you look at the overall picture, first time round the sales climate was much higher, 2nd time round the sales climate was much lower, yet take that have almost doubled there album sales and that is a huge achievement.

Progress back to 9 in the charts with sales between 15-26k. Pretty amazing chart run. It will outsell The Circus easily.
I wonder how Progressed will do next week? I've just pre-ordered my copy.
It could do 100k. It will be interesting to see whether Progress and Progressed will get more sales than Beautiful World and Beautiful World Deluxe (2.8 milion in the Uk).
Do you really think Progressed will do as well as 100,000. Other than the first announcement, I've not heard or seen anything about it. I hope it sells well, I'll get it, and also hope Amazon have it as their £3.99 album next week, but I just get the feeling it won't do much. I hope I'm wrong. <_<
Many people said they saw TV adverts for it, so I guess they are promoting it.

not seen the ad, but just noticed a thread on FB, so all is not lost.

i also hope for 100k for Progressed.. it would be sooo amazing to see the bundle back at #1.
It would be lovely if it sells strongly for them, i think it could aswell as the original progress is still managing to perform strongly in the charts.

You got your wish regarding Amazon. I love their albums of the week offers.

:w00t: thanks....I guess I'll download it tonight, then open it on Sunday from the kids. That's what usually happens.

Progress sold another 11k last week just missing out on top 10. Progressed is number 1 on iTunes.

I think progressed has a great chance of number 1 next week, i wonder will it be listed as a climb of 10 places to number 1 or a new entry?

it'll be listed as a new entry im guessing as the album is under a new name, unlike when BW went back to number 1 with the tour edition....that'll be 7 number 1 albums then which is amazing

I still wonder where they will go from here now..it seems like they will stay as a 5 and will release an album christmas '12 but i wonder what style they will go with....

The original BW went back to number 1 (in late March 2007) under its own steam. The tour edition wasn't released until later in the year (when RTW was added, plus videos and interview) and I'm not sure that that one did go to number 1.

After seeing the show - I'm not sure they should do anything other than as a five from now on. Five seems the right direction to go in. Four would be going backwards.

Kath

yeahh it went number 1, its on my copy of the tour edition but yeahh i cant see them going back to being a 4 again so will they stick with elements of Progress or go back to a more Circus sound i wonder......or maybe a rap album! that would be right up your street Kath haha :)

Beautiful world deluxe never made #1, im 99.9% sure its peak was number 3. If i had a choice and basing it on the music i would choose take that as 4, but i think they will stick with 5, im happy with 5 aswell but i would prefer more material like the flood and love love than the likes of kidz and sos.

Jay - I'm sure the tour edition (limited on, released in about November 2007) did not go to number 1. I know it says on Wiki that it did - but I'm certain it didn't.

Only one way to check I suppose - I'll have to trawl through all the old chart threads on BJ!

Just checked. It didn't I'm afraid. Leona Lewis' Spirit was released the same week and was number one until at least January. The DeLuxe Edition of Beautiful World brought the original album back into the top 10 at number 9. Pete - the number 3 position you're thinking of is the tour/acoustic edition of The Circus album.
