Posted July 20, 200618 yr Finally the Pallot has announced the second single to follow up Everybody's gone to war. Sophia. Everyone thought it would be Idaho, however Nerina told me herself it definatley would not be the 2nd single, but will be later on in the future. Not only is Sophia the next single, but it's been remixed a bit for radio... [flash=450,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YSTYCU64q8.swf NERINA PALLOT - SOPHIA video (out 2nd October) NOW EDITED TO INCLUDE VIDEO (thisispop 01/09/06) http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/14FLR16CD.JPG Release date: 2-10-2006 Catalogue Number: 14FLR16CD Label: WARNERS reviews Sep 2006 Born in London to a half-French father and Indian-born mother, Pallot is the UK's hottest new female singer songwriter, and has gone on to sell 100,000 copies of her album 'Fires' off the back of first single 'Everybody's Gone To War'. Now she returns with the stunning and evocative, 'Sophia'. Written and produced by Nerina and remixed by Mitchell Froom (Daniel Powter 'Bad Day', Crowded House 'Fall At Your Feet' / 'Weather With You') it showcases Pallot's classical piano training and achingly beautiful voice. The CD contains her fantastic rendition of Kylie's 'Confide in Me', whilst the coloured limited edition 7 inch boasts a re-working of her album track 'Mr King', and also includes a free poster. Back to top track listing 1. Sophia 2. Confide In Me That link was given by Nerina herself on her offical site. theres a stream there for ya'll it's not the complete song, we don't want illegal music sharing now do we! I personally think that the single version is slightly better, if not as pure as the original, what does everyone think?
July 20, 200618 yr Utterly FABULOUS. Favourite song on the album by FAR. I thought it would never be released, but i'm SO glad it is. I DON'T like this remix though, some of the vocals on that track were so touching and she's changed the ones I loved so i'm not happy, but at least the amazing track will see the light of day.
July 20, 200618 yr This is one of my favourites on the album, so good choice IMO. I'd like to see her release 'Halfway Home' at some point.

July 21, 200618 yr An AMAZING song but AWFUL single choice. It won't get video attention and I think radio wont be keen on it. Its a too slower song. She hasnt really established herself as of yet and EGTW under-peformed imo, if hse wants to establish herself then she should be going with something like 'Idaho' or 'Learning to Breath' which would get A LOT more attention. 'Sophia' is a fantastic song but a really risky 2nd single from someone, who to most is on their debut album. This really isnt a great choice of single to an artist still breaking through. It will flop in the singles chart, i can predict that much, i just hope it picks up album sales as they are what count.

I do love the new single version, but the album version is FAR superior. I think it's a single release to boost album sales, rather than get a number one. However I think with the right promo, and a killer video it can do pretty well. As for Idaho being a single... it definatley is planned now, I would imagine it's gonna be the 3rd single, I'd love it to be a double A side with Heart attack, I think that would go down a storm. Oh well, we'll see what the video to Sophia looks like and then we can truly judge how much of a hit it'll be. Nerina's on holiday atm, so hopefully when she gets back the video will be premiered.
July 21, 200618 yr What is she doing on holiday? She's left a huge gap between 1st and 2nd single, she should have got the 2nd single pretty sharpish after EGTW. Its going to end up 3 months between 1st and 2nd single at this rate. I can see this project heading for disaster if some smart decisions dont start getting made soon. This isnt how you launch what is to most of the Great British Public Nerina's debut. Also what's confusing me is why bother releasing 'Sophia' if your going to change it so radically alter it? Its almost a totally different song and not what you get with the album. What a waste of resources, she already touched up various songs on the album, why not pick one of those? It just strikes me as more wasted time and funds from this project. The video NEEDS to be good if she wants to get this song added to the various music channels. I'm worried that this is a real big risk and an unnesessary one at that. I really think Idaho/Learning to Breathe should be coming now if she wants to maximise media attention and boost sales. If I was choosing the singles from a management perspective i.e. the best choice of singles for her to make, I would have gone: EGTW > Idaho > Learning to Breathe > Sophia/Geek Love (Double A-Side) She has a good album, I just hope she gets the recognition she deserves :(
July 21, 200618 yr My favourite album of the year, just amazing, she is so amazing. She was so sweet to me too  I love Sophia so much (I love all the tracks) but I am worried it may not do too well with video play and so on, I think it will do well on the radio. But who cares  She is too amazing.
July 21, 200618 yr Her website says the single "should be released in early September". So either 4th or 11th September?
