Five - If Ya Gettin' Down :kink: :D

DJ Jurgen Presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone

R Kelly - If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time :)

quite a $h!te year for number 2s- not a lot of those have stood the test of time

Edit: forgot about Why Dont You Get A Job, great song

Why Don't You Get A Job

My Name Is is also brilliant, and Tender deserved to stay at #1 for about two months...

'better off alone', possibly my favourite song ever.

TOP TEN:

1. Blur - Tender

2. Geri Halliwell - Look At Me

3. Fatboy Slim - Right Here Right Now

4. Terrorvision - Tequilla

5. Madonna - Beautiful Stranger

6. R Kelly - If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time

7. Eminem - My Name Is

8. DJ Jurgen Presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone

9. Tin Tin Out Featuring Emma Bunton - What I Am

10. Artful Dodger Featuring Craig David - Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Selecta

Love them all :)

Out of those, 'Tender' definitely could have been #1 but was unlucky enough to be up against the Britney juggernaut :( 'Look At Me' lost out by a whisker to a completely forgettable Boyzone song, but in retrospect the #3 that week (Shania Twain) probably deserved it more! 'Right Here Right Now' should have been his #1 instead of 'Praise You' as it's miles better. 'Tequila' lost to Offspring which was just massive so I can't really say it should have been #1 but it's much better than the Offspring anyway. And it's a shame that 'Beautiful Stranger' lost out considering the $h!t she's hit the top with since - but I did like S Club 7 far more at the time and even bought that on single, so :D

A good group of #2s, but Will Smith brings it down with two terrible songs. I'll pass on Another Level (though it was better than the crappy 911 cover that beat it to #1 :/), Wiseguys, The Offspring and DJ Jean too. Also two of the worst singles from Five and Steps...

Out of interest, US #2s that year:

Whitney Houston featuring Faith Evans and Kelly Price - Heartbreak Hotel

Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me

K-Ci & JoJo - Tell Me It's Real

Ricky Martin - She's All I Ever Had

'N Sync & Gloria Estefan - Music Of My Heart

Puff Daddy - Satisfy You

Brian McKnight - Back At One

The majority of that group did nothing here  Ah, the days when Europe had way more influence on our music scene than the US! That said, Brian McKnight and K-Ci & JoJo deserved to do well. Both are in with a massive string of R&B singers/groups that had US success in the late 90s but failed to take off here - Deborah Cox, Divine, Next, Changing Faces, Montell Jordan, Keith Sweat etc.

Why Don't You Get A Job

You're not a member of the Tory gov't, by any chance? :w00t:

I can tolerate these:

Another Level/Ghostface Killah - I Want You For Myself

Terrorvision - Tequilla

The Corrs - Runaway

Blur - Tender

Eminem - My Name Is

Five - If Ya Gettin' Down

DJ Jurgen Presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone

DJ Jean - The Launch

Tin Tin Out Featuring Emma Bunton - What I Am

Will Smith - Will 2K

Better Off Alone is the pick of the bunch there.

Some of those #2s are absolute DIRE, even casting the overload of novelty $h!te (Cartoons, Ann Lee, Steps) aside. I can honestly hand-on-heart say "Re-Rewind" is one of my most HATED songs of all time.

Ann Lee - 2 Times :D

R Kelly - If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time :)

Tin Tin Out Featuring Emma Bunton - What I Am :D :D

Will Smith - Will 2K :D

Artful Dodger Featuring Craig David - Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Selecta :D :D

Re-Rewind is amazing  I actually just listened to it again after ranking earlier and I think I put it a bit low. I always do things like this!

And as much as you may hate it, you can't deny that it's the most relevant song on this entire list today. Huge influence, as funny as it sounds admitting that Craig David was actually instrumental in the evolution of British music :D

You're not a member of the Tory gov't, by any chance? :w00t:

Eurgh, scum. I'm actually a Labour Party member, I just love a song that starts with the line "My friend's got a girlfriend and he hates that bitch"
