Posted November 29, 201014 yr COLDPLAY tried to keep the location of the video for their festive single a secret - but were found out when they picked a Thames barge. The lads also let off a load of balloons and had a troupe of ELVIS backing singers for the promo to Christmas Lights, out on Wednesday. CHRIS MARTIN said: "The idea for the video was like a magical, surreal theatre show with loads of tricks packed in. There are fireworks, violin-playing Elvises, levitation, a 100-strong chorus on a riverboat and SIMON PEGG. It was very cold." Maybe radio 1 will play this??
November 29, 201014 yr Somehow I don't care about this at all.. I used to love them but now...just don't care. Sad. If it's really REALLY good (Viva la Vida good) it might change my way of thinking Edited November 29, 201014 yr by SKOB
November 29, 201014 yr my favourite band ever are back? :cheer:        :w00t: I will look forward to this, surely it will be good- its Coldplay after all!
November 30, 201014 yr So, Coldplay are now moving into Cliff Richard's territory..... OOOOOOOOOh, the Cliff-meister is gonna be mad as hell.....

December 1, 201014 yr A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE WHO CARE http://www.subcentral.ch/images/history/010117-raum_leer.jpg haha - this made me laugh
December 1, 201014 yr ^^start a campaign to get it to no1 ahead of the xfactor!! Why... Because it's such an "alternative" and an "opposite" to Cowell/Walsh is it....? Come on, it's hardly Rage Against the Machine we're talking about here, or even The Muppets. Coldplay is frankly the musical equivalent of paint drying.. Slowly.... Doing a totally traditional "Christmas single" is surely one of the most mainstream and conformist things ever anyway (hence my comparison to "Sir Cliff", surely the Poster Boy for just about everything mainstream and conformist about contemporary music)... The whole point of "Killing In The Name" last year was that it anything BUT a "traditional" Christmas song, which was why that WAS an 'alternative'....
December 1, 201014 yr Author maybe they just did it for a bit of craic, something different?? a decision like this doesn't change the world and mean they sold out.....its not their fault they sell millions of albums?! after hearing chris martin doing his own version of 'have yourself a merry little christmas' i am looking forward to this!!
December 1, 201014 yr Im hoping they go all out and its a pure christmas tune, someone needs to do this and i cant understand why hardly anyone even attempts to make a proper christmas tune these days.
December 1, 201014 yr after hearing chris martin doing his own version of 'have yourself a merry little christmas' i am looking forward to this!! Hmm...because it was so good or because it can't be worse that that :P Coldplay have great songs and even two great albums but I have always found Chris Martin somewhat annoying. December 1, 201014 yr Author ^^he might be annoying but his version of it is brillant, probably the most played version of the song in our generation!! i think xmas songs dont do well now because they dont get airplay on radio 1 anymore.they tried to play the wombats one iin 2008 but it still flopped and didnt make the tiop 40, suppose theyre not really singles artists tho?!
December 1, 201014 yr Old songs rule the airplay and it's very very hard to change the tradition. Because, let's face it, Christmas is ALL about tradition. It still bugs me that Glasvegas' Christmas ep went pretty much unnoticed. Edited December 1, 201014 yr by SKOB
December 1, 201014 yr maybe they just did it for a bit of craic, something different?? a decision like this doesn't change the world and mean they sold out..... As far as I'm concerned Coldplay never "sold-in".... I've always found them the dreariest and dullest of the bands that came along in Radiohead's wake, it was obvious to me that they were basically just going to become another U2 or Simple Minds-type Stadium ©Rock act as soon as I heard them in the late 90s when NME was sucking them off....
December 1, 201014 yr maybe thats what they want?! What? They wanted to be dreary and dull..???  Job done in that case.... :P
December 1, 201014 yr Author no just make their own type of music which may not be your thing but which millions of other love??
