December 7, 201014 yr Author Oh definitely. Starry Eyed was unbelievably overrated and was instrumental in putting me off Ellie for ages. Guns & Horses was slightly better, The Writer was gorgeous and I love Your Song even more. It helps that the demos I've heard during the year are also amazing!Hooray. Someone else who doesn't like 'Starry Eyed'! :drama: I thought I was the only one who genuinely thought it was crap. (bar Phil, who seems to either love things or hate things, there's rarely any middle ground :heehee: - Hi, Phil :kink:)
December 7, 201014 yr It really did. Over exposure + a repetitive chorus/hook is very nearly, always irritating. :( Poor Diana. Strange how I've come round to liking Alexandra a hell of a lot more than I like Diana, even though during their times in X Factor I loved Diana a hell of a lot more than Alexandra :(Â I never really particularly loved any of them on the show in 2008, although Alexandra edged it for me as the highlight. If I was to rank all of their singles since the show, it'd go something like;Â Once (Best) All Night Long Bad Boys One Shot Broken Heels Love You More The Boy Who Murdered Love Beat Again The Silence Start Without You My Wicked Heart Hallelujah Everybody In Love The Club Is Alive (Worst)Â Diana easily has the best album for me though, I was never blown away by the majority of Overcome and JLS' are patchy to say the least.

But even then I was probably caught up in the hype and overestimating it. It's a nice enough background listen but I don't get how it's sold over 300k and done so well, it's so PLAIN! Album filler fodder imo.

Or perhaps not seeing as 'Starry Eyed' was such a success for her  but for me personally it would have been.

I'm going to be honest, the first couple of plays, I thought this was crap. But I stuck with it (thankfully) and it's fantastic. Not my favourite from them, but definitely lead single worthy. Chiddy Bang are at 29 with the brilliant 'Opposite of Adults'. I personally thought they did fantastic with the sample. Magnetic Man's 'I Need Air' is one of the best commercial dubstep songs I've ever heard. It's fantastic. Rihanna's 'What's My Name' is still growing on me and is fast becoming one of my favourite Rihanna tracks! Skepta's 'Rescue Me' remains amazing. Despite me loving it from the word go, I always forgot to chart it until about 3 weeks after it's release or something :drama: It's rectified in my EOY chart of course :P Brandon's debut solo effort, away from The Killers, 'Crossfire' was a fantastic lead single. Alicia Keys' HUGE 'Empire State of Mind (Part II)', despite being overplayed, has somehow managed to last over the overplaying. Nicole Scherzinger's 'Poison' is at #23. Had this been released in June, I think it could have been higher in my EOY chart. But that doesn't matter. A Marina & The Diamonds double-whammy now at 22 and 21. Both have JUST missed out on a top 20 positioning, however they're still both amazing pop songs.

December 7, 201014 yr Author Oooft. Not sure you'd like the album tbh. Even I thought it was bland and dull on first listen. Nice to listen to, but their debut was so much better. The only reason as to why I love the album now, is because I'm a big fan and stuck to it  Â I see why some people may tune out of ESOM(PII) now, but the radio over exposure hasn't actually turned me off as much as I thought it would.

The average Buzzjacker will not have heard of them probably, however I think they deserve some kind of recognition. 'Headbutt' may well be their biggest "sell-out" song, but it's still amazing, and shock horror, it's my favourite song of theirs ever. Should have gone higher in my chart tbh, as I love it so much more now, than I did back when it was first released I think. I can see why older fans see them as "Sell outs" now, but tbh I couldn't care less as I far prefer the stuff they do now, as opposed to what's on their debut album. (As much as I like that album too!) ================= 019.  Keri Hilson 'I Like' fpoIxKkJ1G4 MY CHART RUN: [7-8-16-25-32-35-20-26-31-36-38-X-7-11-18-21-26-30-X-2-6-7-11-15-18-24-36] (25 Weeks) At 19 is the first of TWO entries from MISS KERI BAYBEH. As we are all aware/we should know by now, that I adore Keri Hilson and 'I Like' certainly didn't put an end to that. I love the slick production, her vocals, and the euro-dance feel to it all. It's criminal that it wasn't promoted as a proper single here in the UK and received no airplay at all, bar a couple of TV channels. I was pleasantly surprised to see this have a 6/7 week run in the UK chart top 40, despite having a peak of 32/34! (Can never remember which ). Should have been the lead single to her new album. Really hoping she adds it to the UK release of 'No Boys Allowed' as a bonus or something. This sound really suits her and I hope she tries something new, like this track, on her album.
December 7, 201014 yr Author 020.  Olly Murs 'Olly Murs' 3R1DvBJXf7c MY CHART RUN: YET TO CHART Olly Murs has pleasantly surprised me this year. I liked him during his time on X Factor, but I don't think I ever "loved" him. Until now that is. After two fantastic singles, he gives us his debut album, which is BRILLIANT. Quite possibly my favourite debut album, by an X Factor artist ever, well it comes close, at least. It's really consistent and feel-good. I say people should give it a go, they may be just as surprised as I was. Highlights: 'Please Don't Let Me Go', 'Thinking Of Me', 'BUSY' & 'Don't Say Goodbye' ================= 019.  Ke$ha 'Animal' k-0pYBOcT6k MY CHART RUN: [1-1-2-4-4-7-8-8-10] (9 Weeks) Ke$ha's debut album 'Animal' enters at number 19 in my end of year album chart! An album I actually really loved for the first two months, but I got tired of it pretty soon after. It's a very solid pop, dancey party tracks sort of album. However, 'Hungover', which is the only real slow song on there, is my true favourite. It's nice hearing Ke$ha's ballads compared to her party tracks, as it shows she isn't a one-trick pony. I'm not saying the party tracks are bad, hell 'Kiss N' Tell' should have been a single, it's just after 'Tik Tok', 'Blah, Blah, Blah' & 'Your Love Is My Drug' it was time for a change of pace and show people you can do the slow songs as well as you could do the party ones. I think that's the main reason as to why I got bored of her. Shame really as she's got so much potential! Highlights: 'TiK ToK', 'Kiss N' Tell', 'HUNGOVER' & 'Party At A Rich Dude's House'

December 7, 201014 yr Love Ke$ha's album . Still listen to it quite alot actually. My favourite album track from her is probably 'Blind' though, absolutely stunning and should've been a single imo.
December 7, 201014 yr Really wasnt impressed with The Script's comeback (I think I'm going to have to deal with the fact 'We Cry' will forever be the only record of theirs I like) and I tried of 'Crossfire' very easily aswell. Some rather wonderful songs there aswell though, namely 'Poison', 'Empire State Of Mind Part II' and the two Marina records. Liked but didnt really love Kesha's album, and quite liked Olly's aswell. I wasnt a fan of his on the show but his material has been suprisingly great.

It features the vocals of Rivers Cuomo, who is most famous for being the lead singer in the band Weezer. 'Magic' is everything you could wish for in a modern day, fun, rap song. It's so feel-good and breezy. It's produced by Dr Luke! In my eyes, just about everything he touches turns to gold, well almost. It was always my favourite from his brilliant 'Adventures of Bobby Ray' album and I am not tired of it yet either. Fantastic song. ================= 017.  Eminem feat. Rihanna 'Love the Way You Lie' uelHwf8o7_U MY CHART RUN: [15-13-4-7-7-8-10-3-2-4-9-10-13-21-31-39] (16 Weeks) Up next is the modern day classic, and the biggest selling single in the UK of 2010 so far, 'Love The Way You Lie'. I did tire of this originally, but after hearing 'Love The Way You Lie (Part II)' it's made me fall back in love with this part of the song. Everything about this song is pretty epic. From Eminem's verses through to Rihanna's powerful and hard hitting chorus, it's everything you wish for in a Male/Female RapnB song! The lyrics are pretty amazing too. Particularly, "Now you get to watch her leave out the window, I guess that's why they called it window pane". This, to me, is 'Airplanes' gone right.
December 8, 201014 yr Author 018.  Far East Movement 'Free Wired' 6BNCZW0lyhg MY CHART RUN: [1-1-1-3-3-5-7-7] (8 Weeks) Yes, it's not released in the UK until next year sometime, but I feel I've had this album long enough to include it into my chart this year. It's a fantastic album, although 'Like A G6' is quite the mis-leading, lead single as nothing else on the album is like it. It's full of RnB, party tunes. The inclusion of some of my favourite people in the music industry, helps this album! (Keri Hilson, Ryan Tedder. Also, FrankMusik appears!) It's a good album, but got boring after a little while. Still decent. Highlights: 'Like A G6', 'Rocketeer (feat. Ryan Tedder)', 'Don't Look Now (feat. Keri Hilson)' & 'WHITE FLAG (FEAT. KAYLA KAI)' ================= 017.  Eminem 'Recovery' xgo1dvfNXFY MY CHART RUN: [3-3-4-7-7-7-7-8] (8 Weeks) I'm not a big fan of Eminem. He has a couple of decent singles, but that's it. I usually find him horrifically overrated. However, I have to say that I have definitely warmed to him during this era! His more serious songs are easily his most bearable tracks ('Stan', 'Cleaning Out My Closet', 'Like Toy Soldiers' etc...) so it was a pleasing surprise to hear an album more in the same vein as those as opposed to the God awful 'Ass Like That', 'The Real Slim Shady', 'We Made You' etc... 'Love The Way You Lie' is easily the best song he's been involved in this year though  Highlights: 'Not Afraid', 'No Love (feat. Lil' Wayne)', 'SPACE BOUND' & 'Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna)'
December 8, 201014 yr 025. Animal is a great album too
December 8, 201014 yr I do love 'Love The Way You Lie' but much like 'Empire State ...' overplay killed it a bit. Still an iconic song of '10 I think though.

'Ridin' Solo' is without doubt one of the biggest summer anthems for me and I was very pleased to see it be such a huge hit for him. It was such a crowd pleaser in clubs and at his concert. However, this is the first and only single to date, that Jason doesn't do his famous "JASON DERULOOOOO!" call out. The demo also samples The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony'. Fantastically used too. ================= 015.  Roll Deep 'Green Light' 1k2D90QtZeE MY CHART RUN: [25-19-16-14-6-5-9-12-19-26-31-35] (12 Weeks) At 15 is the second of three entries for UK Grime act Roll Deep. 'Green Light' is without doubt their second best single ever for me, personally. It's got fantastic production, a brilliant hook and a strong female vocal! What more could you want? Oh and it's also one of the best party tunes of the year, for sure. Really pleased it seemed to have been a big hit for them, thoroughly deserved number 1! ================= 014.  Jason DeRülo 'What If' 4qQCx9mxV9g MY CHART RUN: [26-25-25-11-2-1-4-6-8-11-7-10-14-24-30-38] (16 Weeks) In at number 14 is Jason DeRülo's 3rd of four songs in this chart, and his 4th official single. This song is amazing. I love piano-led ballads a lot of the time, but add one of your favourite artists and that ballad is suddenly one of the greatest songs ever! The video is also a personal favourite of mine too. I adore the concept and think it's the perfect video for this song. It was his second number 1 in my chart, after 'The Sky's The Limit', reached number 1 after I heard the album.
December 8, 201014 yr Author 016.  OneRepublic 'Waking Up' qHm9MG9xw1o MY CHART RUN: [3-4-7-11-13-15-X-10-6-7-9-13-13-13] (13 Weeks) At 16 is OneRepublic's sophomore album, to the incredible 'Dreaming Out Loud' album. 'Dreaming Out Loud' is one of my all time favourite albums and this is a nice enough follow-up, although it still pretty much pales in comparison :( Although it does have some very strong songs on it, like 'Secrets' which is basically 'Say (All I Need) [Part II]'! It's such a powerful and beautiful song, which seems to be scrapped everytime they decide to release it over here! It's been a pretty big hit in America! The album, I think, flopped though. Shame as it's a good album, just not as good as their first. Highlights: 'All The Right Moves', 'SECRETS', 'Marchin' On' & 'Lullaby' ================= 015.  Katy Perry 'Teenage Dream' K_o4Fqq3vxc MY CHART RUN: [4-2-1-3-5-10] (6 Weeks) Looking back at my chart run for this album, I do think it's slightly harsh, although having said that, it did wear thin on me slightly after the singles became over played and gradually got more and more annoying. There are still some real gems on this album though, as there were with her debut album, 'One Of The Boys'. I think I may have to give this album another listen all the way through, just skip the singles maybe? Highlights: 'The One That Got Away', 'E.T.', 'Pearl' & 'HUMMINGBIRD HEARTBEAT'  ================= 014.  Brandon Flowers 'Flamingo' NOE-Tg1NjnU MY CHART RUN: [2-2-2-5-7-7-9] (7 Weeks) At fourteen is the lead singer from my all-time favourite band/group, Brandon Flowers. 'Flamingo' is a fantastic album, but like the Katy Perry album above it, it seemed to wear off really quickly for me, despite me still loving quite a few of the tracks. Although 'Flamingo' isn't that far removed from The Killers completely, I think a certain charm to the songs are missing. I don't know what exactly, but it doesn't feel right. He still has one of the best male voices in the industry though, imo. Highlights: 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas', 'Hard Enough (feat. Jenny Lewis)', 'JILTED LOVERS & BROKEN HEARTS', 'Was It Something I Said?' & 'Crossfire'
December 8, 201014 yr Author 013.  Alexandra Burke 'Start Without You' oyBq21FtL1s MY CHART RUN: [14-6-2-1-1-4-8-10-19-21-16-12-8-10-6-12-19-27-32] (19 Weeks) At number 13 is the brilliant pop single from Alexandra Burke. This song gets way too much schtick for my liking! It's fun, summery, catchy and has a very decent dance routine. I sometimes think that I am a lone ranger in liking this song, however in these EOY charts I've seen a couple of people say that they like/love it. I know the video (although she looks the best she ever has done, imo) is embarrassingly, awful. But there's a certain charm to this song which I seem to have fallen for! [/Alexandra-loon] - Although, this is not her last entry! She still has one more to come! ================= 012.  Leona Lewis 'I Got You' 5GIkw4Ij5Fk MY CHART RUN: [15-19-28-33-34-28-29-32-X-17-12-10-8-2-3-6-7-7-9-14-19-25-39] (22 Weeks) Up next, is another X Factor winner, but this time it's the winner who people dub as "the best contestant to have ever won X Factor" etc... I would agree, if we're talking strictly about the voice, but if we're talking about who definitely has the most appeal for the whole package, I would arguably say Alexandra. Without a doubt. But anyway, Leona is at number 12 in my chart this year, with the second single from her incredible second album 'Echo'. 'I Got You' failed to go top 10 here in the UK, thanks to a release f*** up! The video was released 3 or 4 days before release and radio failed to get behind it as much as they should have (it's incredibly radio-friendly!). Therefore, it became a royal FLOP! Criminal for such a brilliant song! ================= 011.  The Saturdays 'Ego' Umag84Fqk4I MY CHART RUN: [13-19-22-28-34-X-10-4-2-1-1-2-3-7-5-8-14-19-26-29-35-37] (21 Weeks) And, just missing out on a position in the top 10, is the fantastic 'Ego' by The Saturdays. This song, to me, just never, ever gets old. It's WOW. It has everything a perfect pop song should have! The video, in particular, is brilliant! It's songs like this, 'Higher' and 'Karma', which make me think that The Saturdays are the best girl group around at the moment. Although 'Ego' has missed the top 10, any other year, this would have been top 10, without doubt! It's stood the test of time for me personally and they have one entry ('Higher') left to come!
