December 17, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/aa/TheEntertainerAlesha.jpg #35 Artist: Alesha Dixon Title: The Entertainer Peaked: #4 Poor BRAVE Queen of Life Dixon. Having initially been adored after her first appearance on Strictly, the masses soon turned against her after she replaced a 109 year old battleaxe that no one actually liked in the first place. Everything bumbled out some rubbish about sexism and ageism whilst Alesha released this, an album not quite as good as 'The Alesha Show' in pretty much all corners. It's good, and I think Alesha manages to succed in what she intended to do, which is to create an album not quite as pop filled as the last, something that brings back to her roots of Mis-Teeq more than previous solo work has done. Party anthems and dancefloor hits galore are to be found here, with the occasional more softer moment here and there. I liked it, but there are times where it starts beginning to feel like a bit of a mess.
December 17, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a7/Endlessly.jpg/220px-Endlessly.jpg #34 Artist: Duffy Title: Endlessly Peaked: #5 Another addition to the poor brave category, and trust me, theres going to be a lot of those through this thread. But let's be honest, after seeing Mika flounder and flop, it was an inevitability that the 2008 version of him would suffer the same fate, and indeed Duffy has managed to perform even worse though she can at least live in the knoledge she's made a better flop album. The writting was on the wall if anything with the release of 'Rain On Your Parade' and that awful advert on a bike she did. Duffy as a sound was very 2008, she doesnt fit the current market at all, and this sound rater lazily produced which doesnt help matters a great deal. 'Well Well Well' is enjoyable, on a basis that I only ever got to hear it once a decade because after that it would become too annoying. The album has it's shair of nice tender moments which hold some faith that Duffy is still capable of a great record though.
December 17, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/37/Won't_Go_Quietly_(album).jpg/220px-Won't_Go_Quietly_(album).jpg #33 Artist: Example Title: Wont Go Quietly Peaked: #2 After three brilliant singles, Example was going to have to come up with something mind blowing to please me with the high expectations I had for this album. He doesnt quite manage it I'm afraid though this is by no means a weak album, quite the opposite infact, the first four singles were in definate the highlighst of it. This is a great fun filled album though that it's easy to forgive the errors and mishaps it contains here and there. Whilst he could be accused of sounding a bit too much like everything else on the Radio, Example has managed to create such a sound and image for himself that seems to be trying to please everyone, and he's slowly getting there.
December 18, 201014 yr LOVE Ke$ha's album. 'Blind' is my favourite non-single from the album I think, that chorus is just mega .
December 18, 201014 yr I ♥+L4 the following moments in this thread: But everything from the last few months is from people like Tarisai Vushe who I’m not even sure is a real person. 2010 Number 1’s Gabriella Cilmi – On A Mission (04 Weeks) Kelly Rowland – Commander (06 Weeks) Marina & The Diamonds – Oh No (02 Weeks) BC Jean – Just A Guy (01 Week) Shy’m – Je Sais (02 Weeks) The Saturdays – Higher (06 Weeks) Nicole Scherzinger – Poison (02 Weeks) Japayork – Teenagers (02 Weeks) This should hopefully be completed by about April. I’m not even exaggerating here I don’t think I completed my 2008 one until March 2009. WANTED RANKAGE 05 Token not quite as fit as the rest but needed vocally I also had a COMPLETE 'OMG THAT'S ME!' moment at the following: IT’S FRENCH IT’S GOOD I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SHE’S SINGING ABOUT So yes, in general I APPROVE of this thread thus far. Continue.

It's a very good album, but it's not quite a classic in the same regards of 2005's The Breakthrough or even 2007's Growing Pains, there are some strong tracks to be held but it's all very comparitable with her other records and frankly they come off sounding weak in comparisment. What is nice however is the different in tone here, Queen Mary is no longer still going through pain. 'Tonight' is basically going out on the town, she's going to meet-up with Brandy and Christina Milian and they're going to see Sex & The City, and then go on the pull whilst ignoring the fact they're not 21 anymore (some of this storyline may be fictional). Most of the songs however speak of strong relatioships and trust, with the occasional keep-your-head-up anthems we've come to expect. Mary's albums have always been a window into her emotional state and this album is no difference. Not her strongest attempt to date, but 9 albums in and I think she's now allowed to be a bit lazy.
December 18, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a3/Shakira_-_Sale_el_Sol_(album_cover).jpg/220px-Shakira_-_Sale_el_Sol_(album_cover).jpg #31 Artist: Shakira Title: Sale El Sol Peaked: #1 Following on from her decent but somewhat dissapointing last album, 'She Wolf', clinically insane Shakira returns with Spanish/English album 'Sale El Sol'. A dissapointingly sane album at that, since for me Shakira is always at her best when producing lyrics and prodcution that literally no other singer cold pull off. The fact that she isnt being a crazy gyspy nor is she wishing exploding toilets on ex-lovers though doesnt stop her from making a decent album. She moves away from the more chart based sounds and back to what she knows best, and whilst the anthemicly brilliant 'Waka Waka' is the only song on here I'd include in a top 10 Shakira countdown, the crazy Colombian lady from next door should be reasonably pleased with this.
December 18, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f4/Christina_Aguilera_-_Bionic.jpg/220px-Christina_Aguilera_-_Bionic.jpg #30 Artist: Christina Aguilera Title: Bionic Peaked: #2 Possibly one of the most frustrating albums in existance here, Christina's return was everything I feared it would be, an utter disastah darling. Christina attempts to do it all here, and rarely succeds in doing so. The attempts are presumably to lift her back into one of the most successful artists on the planet, vaguely trying to rip-off GaGa in the process, resulting in her powerhouse vocals being neglected, the production sounding unfortunate and adjoined with some cringy lyrics it leaves you asking why in gods name cant this woman just be simple and return with something amazing? Which she so clearly can, because when Bionic is good, it's bloody amazing. 'WooHoo' is so right yet so wrong, 'You Lost Me' is rather tragic with the vocals almost reprenting Aguilera and this album, and joined with the many bonus tracks which for the most part are better than the actual album it leaves some very dissapointed former Christina fans. #30 is perhaps too kind, but the good just about narrows out the bad. Poor Brave ranking: 9.6
December 20, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9f/Tt_progress.jpg/220px-Tt_progress.jpg #29 Artist: Take That Title: Progress Peaked: #2 In between presenting a war documentary, making ooh 67 appearances on Strictly and the X-Factor, performing 'The Flood' absoulutely everywhere, and just generally refusing to p*** off just for a bit Take That manages to release an album this year. And it was a bit good. Take That's last album didnt interest me a great deal, 'Greatest Day' was as dull as anything, and it all seemed very half-arsed, but with the return of Robbie and the fact that 'The Flood' is fantastic there couldnt be much to lose. Truth be told Take That have manages to produce a modern, great album here which stands apart completly from the past two. Robbie dominates a bit but hey, what were you expecting?
December 20, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/83/Joemcelderrywideawake.png/220px-Joemcelderrywideawake.png #28 Artist: Joe McElderry Title: Wide Awake Peaked: #1 My mother thinks his flopnees is down to him being a GAY but really, was anyone stupid enough not to spot that right from the start? Between him, Lloyd and Danyl last years X-Factor was just a collective of rubbishgais gathered together. Anyway, after releasing an awful cover of 'The Climb', Joe went anyway and decided to pay honour to the flops of 2009 on his album, releasing 'Ambitions', together with a hideous dance routine and plenty of others, including Nerina Pallott's 'Real Late Starter'. If willing to overlook the fact that it has way too many covers on it, it's a good solid album but the UK market either just isnt ready for it yet, or is passed caring with Mika and the Scissor Sisters. Both reasons are ridicolous but poor Joe doesnt appear to stand much of a chance. Poor Brave ranking: 7.6
December 20, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f6/Shontelle_No_Gravity.jpg/220px-Shontelle_No_Gravity.jpg #27 Artist: Shontelle Title: No Gravity Peaked: #1 Second album from the not-at-all inferier Rihanna, following up to the oddly amazngly titled 'Shontelligence'. Lead single 'Impossible' is clearly an utter gem and the song contains quite a number of other great Pop/R&B moments but ultimetly it's downfall comes with the problem faced with Shontelle on the whole. Just how ordinary and lacking in identity she is, because Shontelle basically is what Rihanna was to the world before 'Umbrella', capable of producing hits but no one would really care if she dropped off the face of the earth. An improvement no doubt on her first aswell, and a grand enjoyable album all the same.
December 20, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e8/Syb38jessfinalcover3000.jpg/220px-Syb38jessfinalcover3000.jpg #26 Artist: Jessica Mauboy Title: Get Em Girls Peaked: #1 Following the girl next door look she had going on for 'Been Waiting'. Jess decided to f*** this and embraced being a bit of an all round whore. Hence Ludacris and a ton load of bitchy anthems. The world rejoiced in horror and then joy. On the positive Jessica has evolved her sound to a more fun packed, less patchy album which works wonders for her. On the negative she's sunked her tracks down to the more generic half of the genre. I'm in the opinion of being somewhere inbetween but there's no denying that Mauboy has produced numerous anthemic amazingness for all to enjoy, albeit in the manor of someone discovering nightclubs for the first time.
December 20, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/03/OnlyRevolutions.jpg/220px-OnlyRevolutions.jpg #25 Artist: Biffy Clyro Title: Only Revolutions Peaked: #3 The second album so far to actually be relesead in 2009, and again, perhaps a somewhat suprising appearance. Anyway, 86 singles in and I decided that having liked most of them, and since numerous 'real music' sources were claiming they'd sold out I'd probably end up a fan. In which I most certainly did, because this is filled with songs that you can imagine being frowned upon by numerous of what you'd previously call their norm fans. 'Many Of Horror' and 'Bubbles' in particular are my favourites, and I appear to have become everything I despise in thinking that Matt 'THE CONFIDENCE MONSTER' Cardle's version was disgusting and a crime of all proporations. The SHAME.
December 21, 201014 yr Author http://www.tkshare.com/pic/20100604/2010060420154615.jpeg #24 Artist: Rox Title: Memoirs Peaked: #1 If you'd like VV Brown to be a bit less mentally unstable but a bit duller in terms of music and personality, then you should have bought Rox's album. As it happens Rox has made a decent attempt at a debut album, it's pleasant and if anything, showcases her potentila to grow. Highlights would have to include lead single 'My Baby Left Me', a summer anthem that never was, as well as 'Forever Always Wishing' and 'No Going Back'. Like a lot of debut albums (HELLO Eliza Doolittle) it can fall into being very patchy at times, and Rox seems unsure where exactly to settle at in terms of her music. It ends up being too X-Factor winning single/Pixie Lott-lite in some areas for example and the existance of 'Rocksteady' should forever be ignored but I continue to look forward to anything else she has to offer. Poor Brave ranking: 6.8 (she was fairly high up on the BBC Poll thingy and she flopped, but at least she got an album out unlike poor miserable forgotten Daisy Dares You.
December 21, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/36/ErikHassle_Pieces_AlbumCover.jpg/220px-ErikHassle_Pieces_AlbumCover.jpg #23 Artist: Erik Hassle Title: Pieces Peaked: #3 SWEDEN! SWEDEN! SWEDEN! On this occasion a very miserable Swede though. Erik Hassle rather heartfelt album mainly focuses on heartbreak and the end of relationships and whilst at times you want to scream in his face for him to get a grip of himself such is the overbearingness of certain tracks, on the whole a sincere album. As with these types of albums, it can all get very samey at times and the second half of the album doesnt quite live up to the first half for me. The label at the time seemed to be trying to portray him as an outsider and something different to the industry, which didnt quite work mainly because half of this album wouldnt have stood out much on numerous other albums. But again, a nice solid album.
December 21, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/18/Natasha_StripMe.jpg/220px-Natasha_StripMe.jpg #22 Artist: Natasha Bedingfield Title: Strip Me Peaked: #1 Too high and too soon? Perhaps. But Natasha's third album yet again delivers exactly what you'd expect from it, which is to the bext of extents it's downfall aswell. Again, like some of the other very vocally critiszied album in this countdown, I agree completly and in Natasha's case the album falls short mainly because her sound hasnt evolved, she oversings and over does it. But I love it. It remains a strong albm filled with some beautiful records. Not her finest moment I agree but well, who cares.
December 21, 201014 yr Shy'm was plastered all over the music channels when I was in France. i like 'Je Sais' and 'Step Back'. Is Prender L'Air' worth buying?
December 21, 201014 yr Author http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/99/Katy_Perry_Teenage_Dream_alternate_cover.jpg/220px-Katy_Perry_Teenage_Dream_alternate_cover.jpg #21 Artist: Katy Perry Title: Teenage Dream Peaked: #2 Renounced by many insane and stupid people as the pop album of the year. And well, it just so isnt. Perry has again delivered a fine album filled with a nice mixture of good enjoyable records and a few heartfelt moments here and there, but the album fails to deliver anything too 'special'. The teen-pop sound is clearly for her though, she does succed with most of these songs, and bar the odd blip here and there it's quite the fabolous outing, on the whole the album provides everything we need. 'Firework' is probably my highlight, but I do rather love 'The One That Got Away and 'Last Friday Night'. 'Peacock' is a f***ing atrocity though. She may be overhyped beyond belief but I cant deny that it's a very good album.
December 21, 201014 yr Author Shy'm was plastered all over the music channels when I was in France. i like 'Je Sais' and 'Step Back'. Is Prender L'Air' worth buying? On the whole, yes. Theres the obvious issue of language here, which is more of a problem for some people than others. But if you enjoyed 'Je Sais' - which is the best I've heard from her so far but then I'd definatly give the album a go. ------------------------------------- Whilst I'm making another post I'll just say that the aim now is to finish these bloody album by Christmas, and then the singles hopefully by the end of the first week of January or something. I'm begining to regret writing all these mini-reviews in the style of a wannabe serious reviewer now aswell.
December 21, 201014 yr I am SORRY but Strip Me is FANTASTIC (album, not song) and anybody who says otherwise is DEVOID OF SOUL! It's all about Touch (one of the songs of the year without doubt), Weightless (huge hit if she releases it), All I Need (genius to mash in Let It Rock), and particularly Neon Lights which is the most gorgeous thing ever by anybody.
