Posted December 16, 201014 yr Hello to all and merry xmas! Time to countdown my chart of the year, and whereas in previous years I've limited it to a top 40, I thought I'd go for a top 100 this year. So comment away, and feel free to predict contenders for my #1/top ten. 142 songs reached my personal chart top ten here, and these 100 are my favourites, nothing peaked lower than #10 here! Lets get into it! Each song's peak position in my chart is to the right hand side and I'll post the videos to the two songs in each block I feel will be the best discoveries to people (i.e. not the huge UK smashes!) 100. Monrose – Breathe You In #4 99. Rihanna feat Eminem – Love The Way You Lie Pt.2 #10 98. Ellie Goulding – Little Dreams #7 97. David Guetta feat Rihanna – Who's That Chick #8 96. Rihanna – California King Bed #5 95. Eliza Doolittle – Pack Up #5 94. Take That – SOS #7 93. Venke Knutson – Jealous 'Cause I Love You #9 92. Alexandra Burke feat Pitbull – All Night Long #4 91. B.o.B. Feat Hayley Williams - Airplanes #9 Kicking us off then is German girlband Monrose's farewell ballad, the gorgeous Breathe You In, currently charting at #4 for me and sneaking into the top 100 here!!! Rihanna has a trio of songs right at the bottom with Pt.2 of Love The Way You Lie, dance anthem Who's That Chick and epic ballad California King Bed sandwiching a gorgeous track from Ellie Goulding's Bright Lights, Little Dreams. Eliza 'one hit wonder' Doolittle's feel-good summer anthem Pack Up pops up at #95, Take That album track, the frantic SOS is at #94 and Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix finalist Venke Knutson is at #93 with the chirpy Jealous 'Cause I Love You. My favourite Alexandra Burke single, All Night Long is at #92 whilst one of the big UK #1's of the year from B.o.B. and Hayley Williams rounds off this section. I hate Paramore but this song is damn good! Monrose - Breathe You In bRt9NzY0wCY Venke Knutson – Jealous 'Cause I Love You u7G0YhipNnU
December 16, 201014 yr Like every song so far that I've heard :D But it's been ruined, as I've just seen the words 'I hate Paramore' :( Venke  So if she made it in, I expect A1 & Mira certainly have. Then Salem and maybe Timoteij from MF. Who else? Still supporting Lena for #1, but I am becoming a bit doubtful now.
December 16, 201014 yr Looking forward to see what's on top. I expect to see the usual mix of pop hits, European smashes, and hopefully the odd curveball rock hit thrown in for good measure.

Then Salem and maybe Timoteij from MF. Who else? Still supporting Lena for #1, but I am becoming a bit doubtful now. Well it's true :( But I'm coming round to Hayley as a solo artist - let it happen! Mira's not in here actually, I prefer Venke's song to that. A few other MGP entries are still to come, and a few from MF, although not as many as last year... Lena's definitely high, but there's been a late surge of amazing songs in the last 6 months of 2010 and the top ten has been vastly shaken up recently! Looking forward to see what's on top. I expect to see the usual mix of pop hits, European smashes, and hopefully the odd curveball rock hit thrown in for good measure. Yep, sounds about right! :P I have to say, when I saw you browsing, I was half expecting you to leave a comment about Suede's Stay Together sounding like my #91!
December 16, 201014 yr I like; 99. Rihanna feat Eminem – Love The Way You Lie Pt.2 #10 97. David Guetta feat Rihanna – Who's That Chick #8 96. Rihanna – California King Bed #5 92. Alexandra Burke feat Pitbull – All Night Long #4 91. B.o.B. Feat Hayley Williams - Airplanes #9 Alexandra being the best from that bunch I think. Loving all the Rihanna as well naturally <3.
December 16, 201014 yr I have to say, when I saw you browsing, I was half expecting you to leave a comment about Suede's Stay Together sounding like my #91! I don't think I'll convince anyone other than myself of the similarity unfortunately. :( Anyway, Airplanes isn't that bad a song, for being rap anyway.

Thanks Jack! Still some more Rihanna to come - she's been amazing this year as always  I don't think I'll convince anyone other than myself of the similarity unfortunately. :( Anyway, Airplanes isn't that bad a song, for being rap anyway. I actually see similarities in places so you're not completely mad! I've always found Airplanes, particularly the melody in the verses, quite 90's esque actually. It adds to its charm I think.
December 16, 201014 yr Wouldn't mind if Hayley went solo, as she's the one I care about really. Won't mind if Lena isn't #1, but tbh, I don't want it to be 'The Flood' that beats her there. Rather something like 'Just The Way You Are'.
December 16, 201014 yr Author The first of many sections where I'm sure some of you will be thinking 'what the hell are these songs?'; 90. Fallen Millie – Want To Be (Under Your Christmas Tree) #3 89. JLS – Eyes Wide Shut #6 88. Robyn – Time Machine #4 87. Nina Lassander – Cider Hill #5 86. Agnes – Secret Love #5 85. Diana Vickers – Once #4 84. Tone Damli feat Vinni – Stuck In My Head #5 83. CC & Lee – Better Best Forgotten #5 82. Girls Can't Catch – Echo #5 81. Rumer – Slow #4 Kicking off with a song currently in my top five, a Christmas song by a new girlgroup from London! JLS' new 'best single yet' is at #89, ripping off Calvin Harris shamelessly and one of many incredible Robyn songs from this year, the Max Martin co-wrote Time Machine is at #88. Finnish ESC NF runner up Nina Lassander really should have been picked over the song that ended up going to ESC for them, and unlike that song actually appears in my top 100 of the year! Last year's EOY chart victor Agnes is at #86 with a song which had incredible potential with the best bridge of the year, only to be let down by a far weaker chorus. Diana Vickers' shockingly great debut single, Tone Damli's best release since Butterflies and Swedish schlager duo CC & Lee all appear too in this segment, which is rounded off by Girls Can't Catch's great but oh so generic 2nd single Echo and Rumer's gorgeous debut release Slow. Fallen Millie – Want To Be (Under Your Christmas Tree) N36ImYNrmso Agnes - Secret Love zFkdZ6IrOtE
December 17, 201014 yr Excellent start to the chart :D Some comments for you: 99. Rihanna feat Eminem – Love The Way You Lie Pt.2 #10 I certainly prefer part 2 to part 1, was surprised by how much I liked it when I was listening to the album 95. Eliza Doolittle – Pack Up #5 Great song, I'm hoping it'll help pave the way for Caro to have a big success in the UK next year! 94. Take That – SOS #7 The song I heard in a shop and was stunned to find out it was Take That  I still haven't got round to listening to the album sadly :drama: 93. Venke Knutson – Jealous 'Cause I Love You #9 One of the highlights from MGP this year. Haven't looked into her other material, maybe I should if I get time 92. Alexandra Burke feat Pitbull – All Night Long #4 I prefer the album version, but this is one of my favourites of hers 90. Fallen Millie – Want To Be (Under Your Christmas Tree) #3 Brilliant Xmas tune, hope it's not a one off release from the group 87. Nina Lassander – Cider Hill #5 I disagree that this should have been sent over Kuunkuiskaajat, but it is a nice song nonetheless and would have made an excellent ESC entry 84. Tone Damli feat Vinni – Stuck In My Head #5 I like it very much apart from the rapper :( 83. CC & Lee – Better Best Forgotten #5 Amazing ABBA rip off, I wish Britain made more music like this :kink: 82. Girls Can't Catch – Echo #5 Love this song and was really looking forward to the album too, shame they split :(

Girls Can't Catch – Echo #5 Love this song and was really looking forward to the album too, shame they split :( Thanks Ghosty, yeah GCC had potential but I guess there was nothing unique about them :( I know you loved Kuunkuiskaajat but I think Cider Hill could have made the final, and I personally much prefer it - plus I was into singer/songwriter type stuff in Jan so it really appealed to me at that point! TT's album really is well worth a listen if you get a chance! Agreed about Rihanna/Eminem, Love The Way You Lie won't be in my top 100 at all - perhaps you and I will be the only people on BJ not to feature the song in our countdowns  Ooh a finnish NF entry making it to 87? What next? A1 in the Top 10? :kink: Maybe! Reformed 90s boybands are a recurring theme throughout this chart
December 17, 201014 yr Author This segment contains ONE song that made the UK top 40 then...I may not be an indie kid but I'm certainly not a commercial whore either :funky: Unknown pop FTW :D 80. Petter feat Veronica Maggio – Langesen #4 79. The Saturdays – Ego #5 78. Leddra Chapman – Fooling Myself #6 77. Didrik Solli–Tangen – My Heart Is Yours #5 76. The Pipettes – So I'll Say Goodbye #2 75. Agnes & Bjorn – When You Tell The World You're Mine #6 74. Jessy Matador – Allez! Ola! Ole! #9 73. Boyzone – Love Is A Hurricane #8 72. Alcazar – Headlines #4 71. Jenny Berggren – Gotta Go #6 Swedish rapper Petter teamed up with singer Veronica Maggio for the rap/ballad Langesen, which could have been even better if not for the chipmunk effects in the first couple of choruses. One of The Saturdays' biggest UK hits, Ego comes in at #79, an album track from UK singer/songwriter Leddra Chapman is at #78 and Norway's ESC entry (and MGP winner obviously!) Didrik Solli-Tangen is at #77. A b-side from The Pipettes blew everything on the album out of the water for me and comes in at #76, A #1 single in Sweden from Agnes and Bjorn Skifs - made especially for the Swedish royal wedding - is at #75 and France's upbeat Eurovision entry/football chant from Jessy Matador, perhaps the biggest grower for me this year, is at #74. Boyzone's second single of the year, Love Is A Hurricane (sounding much like Ronan's solo output!) is at #73, Alcazar came 2nd in my 2009 EOY with Stay The Night but their MF entry this year, Headlines, finishes down at #72 - still a fantastic pop song but not as incredible as the last. Finally, with the first of two of her entries, sorry Ace of Base, I far preferred the departing member's new material this year! Gotta Go is a fantastic pop song with a brilliant chorus. December 17, 201014 yr Indeed. A1, Take That, Boyzone. DEAR GOD, they all decided to come back the same year :(
December 17, 201014 yr Cider Hill  I agree, they should've sent that instead. Didrik higher than Venke? His song was boring, totally didn't get the hype in the NF, deserved ESC finish -_- Jessy :o And Alcazar's MF entry even makes it in, despite being not all that good when compared to 'Stay The Night' :o [Not my opinion. I don't get the fuss over 'Stay The Night']
December 17, 201014 yr Author Indeed. A1, Take That, Boyzone. I don't get the fuss over 'Stay The Night'] Yep, I know I'm alone in my opinion (well maybe Jerick too ) but I still love My Heart Is Yours. Of course he didn't deserve to win over A1 but they're still to come, and way higher. Yep, Jessy's song was a summer anthem of mine, lasted for me long after the contest was over. And I thought Headlines was excellent too - just not 'life changingly good' like I found Stay The Night.
December 18, 201014 yr Great rundown so far Rich. My favourite so far is indeed entirely unexpected I'm sure in being 'Ego', it just about manages to remain my all time favourite from them, though it only finished at #3 on my 2009 EOY. Also loving that Pipettes track, though I dont agree with you on the album, and also Robyn, Alexandra, Girls Cant Catch A Hit and Jenny Berggren. I would at this point insert a moan about Rihanna, but I dont think anyones listening anymore frankly.
December 18, 201014 yr Author 70. Jason DeRulo – What If #5 69. Richard Vission and Static Revenger feat Luciana – I Like That #7 68. Glee Cast – Don't Stop Believin' #8 67. Katy Perry – Firework #5 66. K'Naan – Wavin' Flag #5 65. Cheryl Cole – Parachute #4 64. Timbaland feat Katy Perry – If We Ever Meet Again #3 63. Katie Melua – The Flood #7 62. Pepper & Piano – You Took My Heart #4 61. Rihanna – Only Girl (In The World) #4 A far more commercial segment here, with only one song that hasn't yet charted in the UK...My favourite Jason DeRulo single, his ballad What If kicks off proceedings followed by a fantastic electro track from British dance diva Luciana and a couple of US producers which has already been a top 3 smash in Australia!!! The ubiquitous Glee Cast get their only entry in the top 100 with their cover of Don't Stop Believin', Katy Perry appears twice (with only one entry left to come!) with Firework and her Timbaland collaboration, If We Ever Meet Again, with K'Naan's World Cup anthem Wavin' Flag and Cheryl Cole's Parachute sandwiched in between...A career best (imo) from Katie Melua gives her the #63, with one of many songs titled The Flood to come out this year. It was all about the strange dance breakdown in the middle! My favourite song to come from the Sky TV show Must Be The Music was Pepper & Piano's You Took My Heart, and Rihanna finishes off this segment with her huge Only Girl (In The World), which I eventually came round to after many weeks of 'meh'. Richard Vission and Static Revenger feat Luciana – I Like That x8eDyCRa0mY Katie Melua - The Flood 4E4-9yKTv_I
December 18, 201014 yr There is going to be a lot of BJSC tracks in here :heehee: I comment later when you get to the top 40 part :kink: I just put a little comment on Rihanna, I think she is irrelvant

The rest are just songs that I knew before that other people happened to send :P What do you mean she's irrelevant? There's nobody MORE relevant to music right now!
