Yeah, but that was the whole point lol! The fact that the Doctor couldnt change her fate, because he didn't have that almighty power that he thought he did. Maybe I'm not explaining what I mean very well lol.

That's not really what I meant, I think you're missing what I'm saying too. I mean I can agree that the doctor not having the almighty power to change her fate is something being stressed by the show. However I don't understand why that is....what exactly is this mystical "power" that would result in her death every time?

I just found it a bit funny/odd at the end, like she thought to herself "Yeah I'll show him! I'll go off myself that'll teach em!" Can't say I understand that thought process very well.

and again, he did have the power to change her fate. Even if only just a little. He changed her location of death. (and the time it happened) It was just her flawed logic thinking she could put things right by killing herself...when in actual fact the doctor had already changed her fate and by killing herself there wasn't an absolute guarantee that the previous timeline would be restored because the variables were different. (Location, Time of death, Cause of death were all different)

Luckily for her it turned out that her grandchild still became the space traveller and very little changed. However what would have happened if some kind of drug scandal had surrounded her suicide? Even though it would be fake stories there could still have been rumours....and those rumours could have made her grandchild doubtful in the future. What I'm saying is it would have been a better idea for Adelaide to go back to her family rather than leave everything to chance like that. Have faith in her own ability to inspire her grandchild rather than choosing to die like some kind of war hero. In the end it seems like all the producers wanted her death for was to teach the doctor a lesson. I'm just looking a bit beyond that....what she should have done if she had thought a bit more for herself rather than just being the means to one of the doctors lessons.

I hope that makes a little sense, I have a feeling we're actually both heading off in completely different directions on this one. :drama:

River is Amy's daughter :o did not see that coming.

The teaser at the end of the episode was kind of... wtf moment.

I really enjoyed the episode, it left a lot of questions unanswered till the autumn

WOW is about all I have to say to that. The reveal of River's true identity was really obvious from the start of this series, but it still felt really dramatic. I do think it's a bit crap though, I mean how could someone so fabulous come from 2 such uninteresting parents.

It was yet another episode that not an awful lot actually happened in, yet it was totally absorbing and I was gripped by every minute. It didn't really answer anything though, aside from River's indentity, which might leave a few people a little disillusioned with things as they've become used (especially in RTD's time) to having everything handed to them on a plate fairly sharpish.

Mikey, there are blind people in the dark that saw that coming!

I really liked the silurian/servant girl (implied) lesbian thing too, I hope we see more of them, they worked really well together.

Brilliant episode. Saw the cliffhanger coming, but the rest was brilliant. I liked the Silurian/servant girl pair as well. A very nice set of supporting characters overall.

Also the title of the next episode  . It had been rumoured, but I thought it was a joke.

I LOVED IT. As John said, the episode was one of those where nothing really happened and we found nothing out (except for the obvious), so it's frustrating in that way, but it was a good episode in all - particularly the REVEAL. It was good to see the Doctor working alongside his former enemies too.

River's true identity was a tad obvious I suppose. I had glossed over that theory weeks ago hoping it was TOO obvious - but obviously not. Having said that, I'm not really disappointed, there's plenty of scope for her character now we know and we still don't know for sure about who killed the Doctor (do we?) and why River went to prison. There's SO MANY unanswered questions.

Is it just me but I actually don't understand Doctor Who at all, but I take it for what it is and enjoy it.

Also I found tonights episode rather $h!tty in fact :( The ending was frigging amazing though and made up for it. I didn't see it coming :o!

Brilliant episode; very gripping, despite little happening. I hadn't really thought of the possibility of River being Amy's daughter, although I had linked their surnames before. I can't wait to see the conclusion in the Autumn though and see where they go with it now (because River mentioned the date with the Doctor to Rory, which matched what the Doctor told Donna in the Library about their last meeting). The collection of the Doctor's friends from everywhere in time did seem a bit like it was trying to do the last series's finale again, but it was nice seeing them working for the Doctor rather than against him.

Explain that bit please :o

I personally thought that River being Amy's daughter was so obvious that it surely couldnt be the answer. I struggle to see how anyone didnt see it coming a mile off, especially when the baby got named Melody. I did briefly consider the Lorna girl being River as a backup plan though.

Fantastic episode on the whole, this series dipped in quality a bit after the first 2 episodes so it was good to see it back to form. Nice supporting cast, and of course plenty of questions left unanswered.

Lorna the next assistant then? Only this time we all know how it ends for her...

Pond, River...watery names -> bucket

Great episode, but like everyone else has said NOT MUCH happened! I found blowing the Cybermen up a bit of a waste though :( The teaser afterwards was a bit of a :o moment!

In one of the Library episodes, I think River tells the Doctor about the time they last met, and then she told Rory in this episode a similar description, although the Doctor mentioned to Donna in the Library that he told River his name, so I guess it may not be the same occasion...

What was the teaser? I switched channels AHHH!

Another thing which just confuses me! Oh well.

Love the title of the next one

I agree

You know what, I thought about River being the girl and the girl being Amy's daughter but never really put 2 and 2 together since River is NOTHING like Amy and Rory but I'm certainly not disappointed! Its funny cos my Mum said this afternoon that this is what she thought would be the case and she was 100% right.
