No thoughts on the new episode? :o

I thought it was quite good. I was worried it'd be a bit of a filler episode but the majority of it was quite enjoyable. I didn't like the fear/faith mumbo jumbo towards the end - I always find the Doctor's summing up of events a bit lame and usually overly complicated, and this wasn't much different. It was a nice concept though - and done quite well for the most part. It'll be interesting to see how Amy and Rory are reintroduced too.

I wasn't expecting Amy and Rory to leave so early. They'll definitely be back. That's a certainty.

I wasn't a fan of the faith thing, though. It wasn't as nearly as creepy as it could have been. Basically, The Impossible Planet did this one far better. And that alien who kept going on about enslavement or whatever was the most useless character I've seen in a while.

That said, I did enjoy it, I do like the countless derivatives of that episode (as in Doctor, companions and extras who die one by one trapped somewhere), so this was rather good.

Solid if unspectacular episode this week. As pointed out David Walliams character was awful and the make up effects on him showed up poorly in a lot of scenes due to the lighting. Good to see the Nimon back even if it was basically a 'cousin' species. Unfortunately the emotional impact of Amy & Rory leaving is rather dulled by everyone knowing they'll both be back but that aspect was well done enough.

Presumably they will be re-introduced for the final episodes by receiving the blue tardis invite as I thought they were already living together when they received it in episode one?

Oh and has anyone else noticed that a Rubiks cube keeps popping up in the episodes?

I noticed it this time but when did it appear before?

He was playing with one while talking to the boy in the block of flats and I think I noticed it in an earlier episode too but I really can't remember when as it was the first time so didn't seem weird. It's probably a case of just re-using the props but I found it weird that it would be so prominent in episodes.

It was Walliams? That explains it. I expect they added the character after writing the script through with the intention of Walliams playing him/Walliams wanted to be in DW. Because take him out, and the story is no different at all, albeit without him cowering in corners and muttering about imperialism.

Also, the Muslim girl (can't remember her name) reminded me a LOT of Martha. Which is a good thing. It was a shame that the Doctor said she could go with him when they got out of it, because from then, I knew she was doomed. :(

I thought this episode was the worst in the series by quite some way, a plot that had some potential but didn't really go anywhere and KYLIE SYNDROME all over again with the Doc's new friend.

The character that David Walliams played was actually supposed to be played by Matt Lucas, but the person in charge contacted the wrong actor!

I thought it was an alright episode; I did expect big things, but I do rather like episodes like this, 'Midnight', 'The Impossible Planet' and 'The Waters of Mars' where the cast are all knocked off one-by-one. I actually thought Amy and Rory's departure was really nice, but it would've been better used as the series cliffhanger - although I guess we'll find everything out then anyway. It just didn't feel that emotional because I know they're coming back, but maybe most of the public don't.

More like a filler episode, it didn't do anything for me, nothing much to add. James Cordon next week not looking forward to that. Pretty much of a weak series, the first 2 episodes were rather good, after that it went downhill apart from the odd episode down the line.

I think most viewers would have expected to have heard about it if Amy and Rory were leaving.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought of that! Those clever pesky Dr Who writers...

catching up with this, I thought it was a good episode, not the same emotional depth, but I liked the concept, and it served a good farewell (for now) to Amy & Rory, can't say I'm looking forward to James Corden (WHY??? that was comfortably the worst of last series :( ) but the Cybermen are a very welcome return :D
I really wonder what next week's opening credits will be. Will Karen and Arthur still be mentioned, will it just say Matt Smith OR will James Corden get THAT much credit to be in the opening titles? I hope he doesn't, I don't know the man well enough to hate him like half of britain apparently does, but they haven't been crediting Alex Kingston when they should have, so I will be really bothered if they do for Corden.

Apparently it'll be Alex Kingston - I have no idea though, personally I'd prefer it with just Matt, seeing as Alex hasn't been credited in the titles before.
Amy and Rory are actually in the cast for this week according to the Radio Times but i don't know how reliabel that is.

Amy, Rory, River Song & Madame Kovarian are all in Episode 12.

Also

in this episode 200 years have passed since 'The God Complex' for the Doctor

I haven't commented on this thread since the series came back!

Let's Kill Hitler

Terrible episode IMO, I'd have preferred to see more fighting the Nazis and less boring River backstory. It may just be because it was ages ago when I saw A Good Man Goes To War, but so many things from that episode that were never resolved just seemed to be discarded over the break

Night Monsters

I actually quite enjoyed this but I totally get the 'Fear Her' comparisons (although I also think that episode was very underrated - it wasn't THAT bad, there have been plenty of worse episodes since the DW revival, especially Love And Monsters as has already been mentioned :puke:)

The Girl Who Waited

On the flipside this was extremely overrated IMO! Decent enough but definitely not the best of the series. I'm not actually sure what is though, it's been a very good series overall bar Let's Kill Hitler but none of them particularly stand out above the others.

The God Complex

Definitely the best so far of the second half of the series IMO! It was a bit annoying how the potential new companion died during the episode yet again but no qualms aside from that.

Overall the second half hasn't been as good as the first half in general so far. Hopefully Closing Time / The Wedding Of River Song (I assume this is a 2-parter?) will be better than The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang which was a pretty poor ending to the last series IMO.

They won't make up an official two-parter, but the arc will be featured heavily in both, I am guessing.
I actually thought last year's finale was fantastic. I was glad to see it have more to it then 'the Doctor fights everyone and is AWESOME' like had been done a million times. I thought it was clever and a good set up for the next series. I hope this year can live up to it.
