I can't believe no-one has commented on how amazingly hot Amy looked in her uniform and eye patch. Made it very hard to concentrate on the story.

You're forgetting one significant fact about a large proportion of the BJ membership

Considering the guys on DW are unsexy I'd rather go straight for Amy.

New names thrown in the mix are Daisy Lowe, Lily Cole, Chelsee Healey, and favourite to replace Karen Gillian is Jessica Brown-Findlay (Downtown Abbey)

My personal favourite from the list Lily Cole

Ngl I'd actually watch again if

Chelsee Healey

joined.

anyone see the Christmas special then? :P

Personally, I enjoyed it, I thought the storyline was very sweet (although I found the 'guiding light' was slightly clichéd) and definitely suitable for Christmas, and it was quite entertaining overall

My only problem was that it felt a bit weak/rushed in the middle when they were in "Narnia". Not enough threat, and too simple of a solution. I found it sweet that the mum could bring the father back though :)
I liked this special more than last year's. I think the story has a few holes here and there but was enjoyable overall, plus I loved the little treat with Amy & Rory at the end.
One of the best Christmas specials in my opinion. Matt Smith is on his way to becoming my favourite Doctor.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best ever. Good acting all round I think. Wasn't confusing, and was just an overall improvement on last year.

8/10. :)

Ranking them from best to worst:

The Runaway Bride

The Christmas Invasion

The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe

The End Of Time Part 1

Voyage Of The Damned

A Christmas Carol

The Next Doctor

The Runaway Bride

The Christmas Invasion

Voyage Of The Damned

I have only liked these - and especially The Christmas Invasion.

To me it's:

The Runaway Bride

The Christmas Invasion

The End Of Time Part 1

Voyage Of The Damned

The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe

The Next Doctor (I always seem to forget this one as if I never happened, it's not bad though)

A Christmas Carol

Doctor Who was the third most-watched show on Christmas Day this year, only behind the two main soaps! Upon checking, they also came third last year (from BARB - this year's figures are currently only from overnight figures), but Coronation Street was replaced in the top three by Come Fly with Me.

The viewing figures are down 2m on the overnights from last year (10.3m), with 8.92m this year, but with the BARB figures, 2 million more were recorded for the official figures. TV viewing on the whole was down this year anyway.

I rather liked this, which surprises me because I don't usually like the Christmas specials. There's something about a bigger budget and a guaranteed bigger audience which makes them go all-out on spectacle and rather lacking in plot. I gave it a miss this Christmas because I didn't want to insist we watch it and drag my family through an hour of lame, so I've caught up today.

It was all quite enjoyable. Of course the plot was a bit lame but then I didn't expect too much and at least it all ended rather nicely with the pilot husband back home safe for Christmas. It was funny and charming, and I thought the woman who played Madge (Claire Skinner?) was very good. I thought it looked really good - they did the Narnia/Christmas forest thing very well, and the ending with Amy and Rory set us up nicely for the next series. For a change, a rather fun and enjoyable standalone episode.

Doctor Who: Farscape star Ben Browder cast in western episodeFilming is currently taking place in Spain on one of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill's final outings

There's a treat in store for sci-fi aficionados, with Farscape and Stargate SG-1 actor Ben Browder confirmed as the latest guest star for Doctor Who series seven.

Browder played astronaut John Crichton in cult Australian/American sci-fi collaboration Farscape, and starred as Cameron Mitchell for two seasons of SG-1.

He will appear in a western-themed episode of Doctor Who penned by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse and currently filming in Spain, according to Doctor Who Magazine.

Whithouse revealed previously that the episode would be one of the last to feature the Doctor's companions, Amy Pond and Rory Williams - aka Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill - who are known to be leaving at some point during the new seventh series.

Whithouse has said the episode is slated third in the run, which could indicate an early departure for the pair. However, Steven Moffat is known to be writing Amy and Rory's final episode, so it's possible the instalment currently being filmed is part of their farewell story arc.

As reported yesterday, Upstairs Downstairs actor Adrian Scarborough will also feature in Whithouse's story, as a character named Kahler-Jex. Meanwhile, Dominic Kemp will play Kahler-Mas, with Rob Cavezos starring as Walter.

Doctor Who: Jenna-Louise Coleman to be new companion

Former Emmerdale actor Jenna-Louise Coleman is to replace Karen Gillan as the Time Lord's companion in BBC1 drama Doctor Who.

Coleman, 25, who played lesbian Jasmine Thomas in the soap, will make her first appearance in the Doctor Who 2012 Christmas special.

However, Doctor Who executive producer and showrunner Steven Moffatt, who delights inb keeping viewers and journalists guessing, declined to reveal what Coleman's character would be called.

Coleman is reported to have impressed TV bosses in screen tests with Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, is due to leave the BBC1 sci-fi drama this year and Coleman was unveiled on Wednesday morning at a press conference.

She will soon appear as Annie Desmond in Julian Fellowes's new ITV1 Titanic drama, while her other TV credits include Waterloo Road.

More details soon...

:D
