I liked this episode, but again, I felt the cubes plot and the villain was all a bit rushed and didn't fully make sense. I found it really to be an episode that focuses on the Ponds with a plot sort of shoehorned in (if that makes sense?), I did the 'normal' half amusing and entertaining too.

The Weeping Angels never fail to terrify me, so next week should be good, hope they're not suffering too much from overuse though.

I'm getting a bit bored of the Ponds to be honest. Amy is sex on legs, but Karen Gillan has never put much of a performance in IMO with her mumbling her lines and having only one facial expression. And seeing Jenna-Louise Coleman a few weeks back has me now dying to have her back ASAP since to me she is everything Amy is trying to be.
To be honest I can't wait for Rory and Amy to leave. The last five episodes have felt very filler. Bring on Oswin (or Clara)!

Stephen Moffat had already said that due to fans' confusions about the over-complicated chronology last series that he wanted to bring it back so you can watch one episode and not have to know what had already happened.

Such a horrible ending! :( I loved the episode but I felt sick throughout wondering how they were going to leave. It's nice that it IS final for them and that it shows Amy does love Rory as much as he loves her, but it's going to feel so weird without them. Possibly my favourite companions after Rose.

Great episode, did a good job of keeping the Angels scary, and for a story involving River, relatively easy to follow.

I did enjoy it, I do think it was time for Amy and Rory to leave, but I was still sad when it happened. :( The episode had me fooled as well after the fall, I really thought everything would be ok and they'd leave a different way - well, them landing in a graveyard was a bit of a clue but I didn't see it until it was staring me right in the face. I do like it when TV manages to trick me like that, so that helped the ending for me.

I can't wait to see how the series continues now.

Very good episode I thought, a very sad end to both of them, but one I felt was done very well. Leaving it at the drop from the building would've just left it a little cold. A good development for the angels too (the statue of liberty in particular!) that saved them from overuse, still very scary, especially those little children.
The only thing I'd have done differently would be for the Doctor to visit Rory's dad and explain what had happened, even if the scene was silent. It's just niggling at me that they introduced this character who's concerned for these characters and looks like he's being left in the dark. Otherwise very good but it really was time for Amy and Rory to go.

I agree with you on that. I saw this on Twitter earlier though in relation to that which is so sad :(

It's been a WHILE since I've commented in here.

The Power of Three was a good episode but suffered from a huge build-up and a disappointingly quick reveal and solution. Doctor Who does seem to suffer from that quite a bit and it's always a shame because it almost ruins what has been a strong plot up until that point (the most infamous example of this was in the Series 4 finale when Donna - constantly referred to as one of the most important people in the universe - prevented all of reality from being wiped out by... pressing a few buttons.)

The Angels Take Manhattan was a bloody good episode imo and almost flawless in its plot and storytelling. I was expecting a bit MORE considering it was the end of the Ponds FOREVER, but it was effective in it's simplicity and it was (as always) a joy to see River, especially interacting with the Doctor and the Ponds properly (as daughter/wife) for the first time. I got more emotional during their heroic jump from the roof of Winter Quay than I did for the end which made the ending a bit of a non-event but I really am just splitting hairs at this point.

I am REALLY looking forward to Christmas and the reintroduction of this mysterious new assistant.

Finally caught up (7 episodes in 2 days wot; and I still can't bring myself to watch that scary 9th episode of season 6 :( ).

Cried like a bitch during the last few minutes. SUCH a fantastic ending. Emotionally up there with Rose's departure.

Excited to see how he's going to EXTRACT Oswin from the Dalek's body too! And it's FINALLY not going to be a companion that isn't from Earth of present time.

Fairplay, Amy was a bit out there for a companion considering she didn't have a cockney accent.

Wow fantastic ending for Amy and Rory. Fantastic ep so well done. Love the angels they are a very interesting enemy.
I must be the only one that's not looking forward to the new companion. Amy (if not so much Rory) is one of my favourite companions of all time and far and away my fave from the relaunch era. That and the fact I really wasn't overly impressed with Oswin in the Dalek story.
There's only one thing that worries me about this new companion. They say she speaks a lot and so does the Doctor, I hope it doesn't end up like the sci-fi version of Gilmore Girls.

I'm kind of not that excited about Oswin either. I mean I'm excited to see how they will extract her from Dalek's body but I dunno if we didn't know she was definitely going to be the new companion I'd say that she was just a one-time thing.

Amy was so DIFFERENT to the other companions. I think that the Rory + Amy relationship definitely played the key part in what made the Ponds the best companions of the new DW era.

The Snowmen is shown on Christmas Day at 5:15pm. Here's the trailer and prequel (shown on Children in Need night and titled The Great Detective).

Steven Moffat has said in that Jenna-Louise is playing "a completely different character" in this week's Radio Times. Most likely a lie - but I'm looking forward to her début!

I don't understand the point in having an actor play a completely different character a few episodes before their normal debut. They have to be related (if it's not the same person to begin with).

Well there's obviously more to it than that, this is Steven Moffat.

Besides, Freema Agyeman played a different character three episodes before she debuted as Martha.
