I loved the episode and didn't find it slow-paced at all. It was great compared to last week's mess.

The Iccceee Warriorsss were always among my favourites so it was good to see them back. I liked the eighties references as well and several references to the Tardis's translation capablilities (even if it was at the South Pole  )

Now, when do the Sea Devils return?

The whole episode had a nice 80s feel to it, with references from Duran Duran, Ultravox, love the bit where David Warner says "Have Ultravox split up"

I love to see the Sea Devils return they are probably my favourite Who enemies.

It was ok. What was shown was well paced but it felt like the story needed to be longer to me. The characters could have been developed so much more, ultimately this felt like it was only 3 set pieces long after the doctor had arrived.
If the Sea Devils came back, that would be brilliant! :w00t: Imagine a monster epic with them and the Silurians! :o

As long as it doesn't turn out like Warriors Of The Deep!

I think the 45 minute limit has really affected the on-screen quality of all of the episodes - I think they need to be an hour long, each, at the least.

I liked the episode and it was of course so much better than last week's wet blanket, but it was again a bit too slow and the conclusion was ridiculous - singing AGAIN?! This must surely link into the series finalé? The characters were really good, I always like episodes set only inside a ship with the crew. The CGI was pretty amazing (minus the inside of the Ice Warrior) though! :D The Ice Warrior character wasn't as terrifying as I expected it to be as well.
Nice return to form after last week's MESS. Looking forward to next week.

2. The Power of Three

4. The Bells of Saint John

5. The Rings of Akhaten

6. Cold War

7. A Town Called Mercy

8. Asylum of the Daleks

9. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

Really didn't want to rank Cold War as low as that, but it really wasn't as excellent as the other episodes above it.

What are you on about putting last week's episode ahead of it? I thought that was universally considered one of the worst episodes ever.

I re-watched The Rings of Akhaten before watching last night's episode, and I must admit - I thought it was a really strong episode. Although it had its flaws, I just found it very emotional when the girl sung, and the market scenes where Clara was exploring were executed very well. I'll definitely need a re-watch of Cold War before considering where it will sit for final in my rankings.

Each to their own but the singing put me to sleep and screamed filler .

'THE villains'? Daleks? (they were out and about in London for Mark Gatiss' An Adventure in Time and Space)

Ah that'll be it then! Sorry for the late reply!

cheers Calum:)

It was another alright episode. I'm getting a little concerned now. Where's the heavy hitting stuff?

It's been a fairly weak season so far with the main problem being that most of the endings are too rushed/a cheap way out! The visuals have been very good but it helps if there's a good story. The next few episodes look good though.

I liked this week's episode but it was still rather weak compared to what I expected (although tbh, I'm beginning to expect less and less each week.) The whole mystery surrounding Clara is keeping me glued but the standalone stories so far are pretty lame. I thought Saturday's episode was a good idea that was (again) rather poorly executed, for whatever reason.
It feels a little to me like they are afraid to make it definitively one thing or another, be it a sci-fi show or a family show with an alien main character, and as a result it's starting to work less and less on any level. Which is a massive shame.

Apparently this week there's not much in terms of Clara's arc, but Clara

receives a warning about the Doctor.

The last episode was pretty good for the most part, I really liked the Alien-esque claustrophobic feel, the historical setting and the Ice Warrior, and the professor added some great comic relief (and Clara without tights :D). I wasn't keen on the ending though, felt it was a little bit rushed and this whole singing thing feels incredibly cliched. As for this one, it could be a great chilling episode, or it could fall flat. Unsure of how this will go as it stands...

This episode NEEDS to be a good one as I've heard A LOT of people ie casual fans who aren't impressed with the last three episodes.
