Going from a rough estimate of sales take that have manged to sell in or around 8 million albums in the UK alone since their 2006 comeback.

Estimates i have are:

Ultimate Collection (2,023,680 to date) just got this in this weeks music report and is about 200,000 more than i thought.

Beautiful World 2.5 million

The Circus 2.1 million

Live & Unplugged 600,000

Progress 1.4 and counting big time!!

Those sales are phenomenal for a 4 year period and at the end of 2011 that figure will rise to around 9.5 million. I wonder how long it can last though, its very hard for any band to continue selling 2 million of each studio albums and not many acts have managed it. Say for example their next album sold 900,000 in total it would be considered a flop even though its triple platnum and fantastic sales, in that way there must be a huge amount of pressure on them deliver consistant albums and strong singles to sell albums aswell.

On a rough estimate their singles sales are:

Patience 560,000

Shine 390,000

Id Wait for Life 45,000

Rule the world 780,000

Greatest Day 400,000

Up all night 110,000

Said It All 90,000

The Flood 300,000 and growing fast!!

Shame 200,000

Singles sales are roughly 3 million in the UK so far which aagin is very respectable and im sure there is at least 250,000 more singles sales left in total from the progress album.

Im wondering will a new greatest hits come next as im sure progress will produce 2 more singles after the flood which would bring total released singles to 11, add 3 new songs and they could potentially release a full on new greatest hits package which i think would sell reasonably well for them.

Uk Dvd sales i have no clue off but im sure the circus dvd must be very near 1 million sales alone, would 3 million dvd sales be a fair estimate????

I think Progress might be it for them, the sales are incredible and Robbie coming back has brought them full circle plus next year is their 20th anniversary. What better way to go out, especially with the biggest stadium tour the UK has ever seen. If so then we'll probably get a GH next year.

It's strange to think how well they've done and the kind of band they've become. Ten years ago this was unimaginable!

I agree about it been some what unimaginable about the band they have become as they just exceeded expectations in all corners and levels. I think a greatest hits will mark the 20th anniversary and you could be right about it been the end as they have went full circle, but it could another 2 ways i think which are:

A Robbie might decide to wait with the band permanantly so its not the end

B Robbie wont stay and the boys will want to prove they can up with the goods again without robbie.

I would be hoping that either of the above 2 will happen as i dont want them to call it a day as i enjoy their music so much, but if it is the end they have left the fans with a lot of good material to listen to.

As im just after finding out this week that ultimate collection has sold over 2 million copies it means its the third consecutive album to sell over 2 million by take that and im 100% positive progress will make it 4, im sure not many acts have managed this feat in recent years and i wonder did the beatles ever manage 4 consecutive 2 million + selling albums?

I know we're only talking thousands Pete ... but you may have underestimated the sales of Up All Night and Said It All. I'd say UAN was nearing 200,000 and SIA is probably around 150,000 rather than 90,000.

Thats fair comment Kathy, i wasnt sure and i went with lower estimates as i didnt want to exagerate them, i know up all night sold consistently and hung aroiund a bit so your sales predictions are probably more real than mine. Said it all i knew had peaked higher but sold less than up all night but again wasnt totally sure on total sales figures.

Take That had 4 albums in the top 200 best selling albums of 2010

01 Progress 1,841,149

88 Ultimate Collection 205,220

122 Take That Circus 114400

188 Take That Beautiful World 72800

Thats a total of 2,233,560 in total for 2010

Im actually really happy with the sales for the albums outside progress i expected in particular the circus to be lower.
