It'd be good to see something go wrong at first and then see the finishedcfproduct later.
Poor Darius. One of his fans wants to see him slapped again and another wants to see things going wrong in the previews.
Most early previews have things that go wrong - that's the whole point of having them.
I have now booked for the 7th(hope to catch you at the stage door Meg :) ) I think the preview idea is a wonderful one. Testing the props/stage/audio and lighting before the premier, makes a lot of sense to me :)
It is so neccessary as things do usually go wrong at this stage - and everyone knows that's what previews are for. I love them. I always see the show when it's been running for a while as well. It is so good to see how seamless it becomes. It is usually the technical bits that fail. It was the dragon in 'Wicked'. All part of the development.

It will be fun to see the shows progress as I am booked to go a few times over about 3 months :) At the beginning of the year, I told Lyn that if D was in the country, that he would be my priority this year regarding holidays etc! I just worry now that we might not get an album until next year  but as long as we get to see him performing and at the stage door, I am prepared to wait again if necessary

I wish we could just have D at our disposal whenever we wanted him, for gigs photos and stuff. Meg you are connected, can't you sort this little thing out for us ;)

I'm not connected. Often Darius doesn't really know what he has in store. He REALLY didn't know he'd be doing this and had no intention of doing a long stint in a musical but, how could he turn this down? He'd have to be mad. The album is still coming but, I'd be happy to wait if something this important arrives for him. I am over the moon and think it is brilliant that people are beginning to see just how good he is. He said he'd be here a lot in 2008 but, he didn't think it would be like this. The album is so close to his heart, it wont be forgotten.
I am sure he won't forget the album, but I just can't see him being able to spend much time developing it and recording it whilst he has such a hectic shcedule of 8 shows a week :( Unless he has already got a good proportion of it done, I think it will emerge spring 2009 at the earliest. I am thrilled he is now receiveing some of the recognition he deserves, so I just need to try and do what I am poor at, and be patient :)
Well, I'm poor at that too ( you'd never have noticed) It'll be like the Billy Flynn runs - he'll be recording around the musical once the musical is going strong. He already has some done. I just hope he doesn't change his mind on the songs again.
When you look at the theatre seating plan Darius'll have to perform one of the most iconic roles ever in what is almost theatre in the round. As an actor, there's always been the stage and then a gap to the audience before. I wonder how different he'll find that.
It'll be more like one of his gigs. He'll cover every inch - except it'll all have to be planned. I doubt they'll let him jump of the stage though in this.
I just hope Darius's fans who want to get his attention, do it at the stage door or at least when he's taking his bow at the end.

I'm glad you raised this point B.T. Apparently at 'Wicked' the actors have been somewhat distracted

by youngsters who have seen the show previously and who join in the dialogue, spoiling it for the

other members of the audience.

Over enthusiastic Darius fans could spoil the show for others.

It's not usually what people do. I could have said the lines with the actors in 'Chicago' but, for me, that'd be bad mannered. Children singing along to well know songs, really enjoying it, seem to be OK though - aqs long as they do it quietly.

Wicked is definately a kids show, Gone With The Wind definately isn't.

Oh I don't mean rude behaviour or whispering or inappropriate behaviour in a theatre. That wasn't a problem at Chicago or Guys and Dolls.

I'm just concerned about the proximity of the audience and people waving or otherwise trying to catch Darius's eye and possibly distracting him or other performers close to them, at a key moment.

But it wsn't the norm in either 'Guys and Dolls' or 'Chicago' and the front seats were just as near the stage. I can't see why it should be a problem. It's obviously not a gig but a Musical Theatre Show.
Well, while we worry about that, we're not worrying about something else. I do know a few fans that embarres me when Darius is performing but, they are a few and they always do and ther's nothing I can do about it. The vast majority go to see him perform the role and that's brilliant.

I think most of us are fairly well behaved!!! :D
