The site being down wasn't anything to do with NTL.

I couldn't get on yesterday

I am on NTL which will soon be Virgin wonder if it will get any better

I don't know, but I've no complaints about NTL anyway. I've been a telephone/tv customer for years and had their broadband now for over 18 months and haven't had any problems with them or their services :)

I think it depends on which area you live in. It depends on the cableing - some is better than others. We were going to move to Sky as the service was cheaper and ntl kept going down. ntl undercut them, so we stayed. They have now managed to add extras to make the payment nearly the same as it used to be.

We really are leaving this time.

I am having trouble with NTL connection an dhave been unable to get on properly for ages .but I realised it was my eldest daughter and her new PC! she is downloading games by the GB! and clogging up our broadband..I am none to happy, but can't think how to limit her downloading.
If you've tried asking her - try telling her. Or you could let her pay for the broadband. It'd still be annoying but at least it wouldn't be costing you.

she has said if we get the larger broadband she will pay towards it, but it is hard enough getting her rent off her so other half wont upgrade it

we have come to an arrangement today that she will download overnight so it leaves the daytime free - I hope Virgin keep it as unlimited downloads  ..I am hoping she runs out of games to download,

Just think - in days to come you can remind her of all this when she has kids of her own.

Oh I didn't know that about the area differences - my cables were laid by Nynex, well over 10 years ago - I think it was Cable & Wireless, when I first got my TV/Telephone package, NTL took over later on. I've only ever had one telephone line fault in all that time - I guess I'm one of the lucky ones then :D

NTL World Homepage has disappeared as of tonight - I find it quite sad to see it disappear really :(

- having been a happy customer, I'm a Virgin, Virgin so their site looks odd to me at the moment, but I'm sure I'll get used to it and the new Virgin Media - it will be interesting to see what develops - are you not planning to stick around to find out then Meg? :D

gulp.have got all the blurb form Virgin..I hope they dont put up the bills..we are already wondering about Sky..although I dont really want to go back to BT, at least with NTL everything is together.

Virgin seem to be a good company..so here's hoping..

Not with bills £20 more than I'd agreed with ntl, I'm not.

Do you mean that Virgin are charging £20 more, than what NTL were charging for whatever it is that you have?

If your not happy with what you're paying for your package now and you can get the same thing from somewhere else for cheaper, why not try telling them that ... NTL often seemed to use to be willing to meet any price offer made by Sky and vice-versa, so maybe Virgin will too?

I'm going to have to have a sit down and get my head around what I'm paying and for what - I've no idea whether I'm getting the best deal I can - probably not at the moment ^_^

Telling them is why they decreased the amount we paid to undercut sky. It just hasn't stayed undercut. It started going up again after about 3mnths and has increased monthly since then. It is now back to where it was before.

Oh right I see, maybe Virgin will be willing to price match or undercut again to keep you now? :D ... all depends what you fancy though too and if you're not getting a great service in your area as you mentioned before, you might be better off with Sky/BT anyway though?
