This is slightly errrm...premature lol! I'd put Albania somewhere between 'great' and 'good' and I can't even remember how the Swiss song goes!
Yeah, bit early  I really really like Albania, I know it's early to say but I could imagine it as a winner already. Switzerland is pleasant but goes nowhere, is there an option for sort-of-good?
Albania isn't a winner by any stretch of the imagination! It'll give them their mid-table in the final position which they seek year in year out.
This is the pre-makeover version though. Once it's in English and produced by RedOne (having come fifth in his MF semi with Love Generation) who KNOWS. Anyway Aurela is amazing

I've just listened to it and it does SCREAM 16th place finish doesn't it! Quite decent and I'm sure the English studio version will be their usual 'above average but not incredible' fare.

Switzerland's entry as per usual screams last in the semi...

I won't be ranking anything until we have at least half of the entries!

I think escforum start their rankings after just two songs as well

Albania really does have that mid-table sound. I really don't know what to make of it right now, I kind of like it, but it's a bit odd. Switzerland doesn't quite scream last in the semi, it's decent and forgettable, but if they liven up the production a bit, it could scrape through, 10th in it's semi, if the rest of the songs are terrible.

At the moment, I'd probably put both songs between 'good' & 'ok'.

Switzerland do terribly with GOOD songs, I fail to see how a completely forgettable average song will lift them any higher! There will almost certainly be far worse to come, but we all know that the most dire songs rarely finish last, usually those inoffensive songs that nobody even wants to vote for in a jokey/ironic way.

Ah, yes, forgot this was Switzerland :drama: Weren't they one of the favourites in 2007 before they failed to even qualify? Same kind of thing in 2008 as well.

Vampires Are Alive, Era Stupendo, The Highest Heights - all were fan favourites (and amongst my favourites!) in their respective years. I'd even class Switzerland as one of my top five countries for consistency in the 00's. And yet they all fell in the semis :(

I was quite surprised The Highest Heights couldn't make it through, but I can understand all the other recent Swiss entries failing. 2011 will be another DNQ for them I should think, but it's early days yet, who knows what's lurking around the corner!

I don't know what to make of the Albanian entry, certainly their worst since 2007 in it's current form - I find it incredibly dated and was hoping for better from Aurela.

The problem with The Highest Heights, is it didn't come across as slick enough on TV, it came across like he thought it was at a big concert. Would have worked on Must Be The Music (which I'm sad to see is cancelled now, that would have been an AMAZING way to choose our entry) but it didn't work for Eurovision. Era Stupendo was the silly dancing. Vampires Are Alive was kind of a combination of both...

It failed in quite spectacular fashion too, was nowhere near qualifying :( I really loved it (it was a #1 in my chart!) and thought that the performance was really memorable, even if the vocal wasn't perfect (but neither are most of those who get top ten in the final if we're being honest). If it was a Turkish entry, same performance, slot and vocals, it would have been an easy qualifier...some countries just have to work harder than others to get hits - it's not impossible, but it's more of an uphill struggle for certain countries over others.

The Highest Heights was one of my favourites too last year! I knew there was no way in hell that it'd qualify once I heard that dire live vocal though...

True, but certain diaspora aided countries could put in the all time $hittest Eurovision vocal and sail through to the final...didn't help that it was from the home of flops Switzerland :(

Off topic: When did Holly Willoughby put on some weight and end up in Pavel's sig? :o

It's Elin Kastlander. -_-
