Posted December 27, 201014 yr It's Will's turn at last - he's on next Sunday. Thanks to Diz on Devoted for finding this: Love the comment at the end  Drama Agatha Christie's Marple Highlight Sunday 02 January 9:00pm - 11:00pm ITV1 London The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side Miss Marple is largely confined to the sidelines of The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side when she's incapacitated after breaking her ankle, but luckily her eyes and ears are Joanna Lumley's, as her friend and St Mary Mead busybody Dolly Bantry. The village is transfixed by the arrival of a Hollywood film star, the high-beam smiling Marina Gregg (Lindsay Duncan). When Marina flings open the doors of her manor house for a reception, one of the guests drops dead. What follows is a colourful Christie parade of suspicious glances, estranged adopted children and a lumbering investigating police officer (Hugh Bonneville, the busiest man on television). It's good fun, and no one takes a second of it seriously, particularly Will Young, who has a deliciously bitchy turn as a camp pharaoh. Radio Times reviewer - Alison Graham http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsServlet?...ls_fullpage.jsp Just bringing this over from the News and Chat thread: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/avisray/P1000683-1.jpg Just found this on Google search too. Will must have fiitted right in  It is easy to understand why The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side has been adapted so many times by movie producers. It is an intriguing story dripping with Hollywood glamor and colorful characters. In this instance, the campy screenplay by Kevin Elyot moves Chrisite’s characterizations and plot twists even further toward a farcical spoof of the mystery genre than written or previously filmed. Director Tom Shankland’s use of over-the-top melodrama through clips of Marina’s films and the Movietone-like newsreels poke fun at the era and set the tone for the entire film. Oddly, Miss Marple is sidelined with an injury early on so her friend Dolly becomes her eyes and ears. Watching actress Joanna Lumley as Dolly acting like a giddy school girl over the celebrity parade and snooping on her neighbors was the highlight for me. Lumley’s infectious energy and deadpan comedy is so well suited for this type of role reminding me that Julia McKenzie’s low key and flat Miss Marple has yet to grow on me. The next episode of Miss Marple is an encore presentation of A Pocket Full of Rye on June 6th http://austenprose.com/2010/05/27/miss-mar...a-recap-review/ Edited December 27, 201014 yr by munchkin
December 29, 201014 yr Author Thanks to AJ on Devoted for this: There's a nice picture in this week's TV Times.... On the last page, there's a feature about different Miss Marple's with this picture, there's also a smaller 'face' shot inset into a pic of Joanna Lumley and Julie McKenzie on the day's page for Sunday. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/Abbiej/WY.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/Abbiej/WY2-1.jpg Edited December 29, 201014 yr by munchkin

January 7, 201114 yr Author Watched it yesterday while I was recording it to disc. I thought he did well - OTT performances from everyone. Some reckon Will hams it up - Marina's 'exclusive private assistant' left Will far behind  Can't wait for Bedlam now  Edited January 7, 201114 yr by munchkin
