Flo Rida is the worst artist. Ever.

For me (and the UK) he is very hit and miss. I got Now 78 today and listened to "Who Dat Girl" and I couldn't say it was good. Flo's verses are so average, and Akon's chorus isn't that great (he used to be good but I don't really like new songs with him in it) - the only exciting bit of the song is when Akon says "she ain't a rockstar but she got boobies", yep that means it's not a very exciting song at all, it may grown on me but probs not. The production of the song is nothing like his three big hits and Flo can do so much better.

"Low", "Right Round" and "Club Can't Handle Me" are in my favourite songs of the years they were released in, especially the first two. Amazing songs all of them and it proves that Flo doesn't need an average singer like Akon to do his chorus for him as he sings 'just about' all of the song in his great songs (I say just about because T-Pain plays a small part in "Low", Ke$ha in "Right Round" and an uncredited female singer in CCHM)

Right Round and Club Can't Handle Me were both good songs, and I was a little bit disappointed that Turn Around didn't at least make the UK top 40. I liked it.

I don't mind Flo, but he can make some really horrible songs (Low).

Maybe I am just grudging him keeping Missing You and Love the Way You Lie off number 1 .

Yeah, I prefer Missing You to Club Can't Handle Me tbh.

That was actually a very fantastic top 3, now I think about it. There's usually a song I'm not keen on in any given top 3, but I loved all those.

Yeah, I still listen to Missing You all the time. Especially the past couple of weeks with all the sun. One of the best songs by The Saturdays imo.

not gonna lie, I did find it pretty hilarious when MY fell to 3 on sunday  not just because I don't like the song (its formulaic and weak imo) but because they were number 1 in the mids all week and it was looking like their first number 1, and then it wasn't even their highest charting single

^ Yeah, that week was quite eventful. I thought it might happen though, since Flo Rida was slowly catching up over the week, and I think it was quite close by the Friday. I didn't expect Eminem to beat them too though! :o I suppose that must've been really close between the #1 and the #3.
I agree it is one of the best. I knew they were going to fall, they were like 7 on itunes or something and Flo was 1, only 2k behind them or something. I was surprised it fell to 3 through.

From the sales thread that week:

1 Flo Rida 61,027 (183,368)

2 Eminem/Rihanna 58,126 (440,735)

3 The Saturdays 57,157

Less than 4k between 1 and 3 :o

4 and 5 were really close as well (but a bit behind the top 3):

4 Yolanda Be Cool vs D Cup 48,353 (392,241)

5 Ne-Yo 47,972 (117,359)

EXAMPLE
“Kickstarts”
from the album “Won’t Go Quietly”
[June 2010]

3-4-8-10-13-13-19-16-15-20-23-29-35-33-39-44-48-62-63-60-69-86-x

~ 1,510 points // 22 weeks // #3 peak ~

Another final entry in the countdown, this is the last time we’ll be seeing Example here. So it’s fitting his highest entry is his highest charting* and longest running single, Kickstarts, the third single from his second studio album Won’t Go Quietly. With its summer release date and dancey genre it was released just in time for it to be instantly put on loads of summer dance compilations, which explains its climb back up the top 20 just as it seemed to be dropping out. Around the time of this song’s release some people thought another similarly titled song, JLS’ Kick Start, could potentially be in the chart at the same time. However, this never materialized as JLS were apparently scared of releasing more than one single after their album. Example may as well have followed suit - after the release of his album he managed one more hit, Last Ones Standing which got to #27, but fifth single Two Lives only got to #84. His 2011 comeback Changed The Way You Kiss Me is likely to do somewhat better than that. *Well, it was his highest charting single until very recently - he featured on the #2 hit Unorthodox by Wretch 32 in 2011 as well. Kickstarts remains his highest charting effort as the lead artist.

That's got to be a record, 13 days between entries  I might have forgotten about this :kink:

Sorry about the $h!t commentary here. My brain won't think.

JAY-Z FEAT. ALICIA KEYS
“Empire State Of Mind”
from the album “The Blueprint 3”
[september 2010]

-20-18-20-21-18-22-25-16-17-28-36-31-30-35-38-52-64-67-71-84-87-82-59-67-86-93-94-91-100-89-86-85-86-x(12)-82-x

So Jay-Z’s highest entry on this chart is not any of his 2010 singles, but instead 2009 single Empire State Of Mind (feat. Alicia Keys). Alicia Keys still has one more entry to come, that being her own solo version of this song, Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down. As I mentioned before on this countdown this is by far his highest selling single in the UK and came off his biggest album to date, despite it being really far into his career (album number eleven to be precise). It of course peaked at #2 in 2009, one place lower than previous single Run This Town (feat. Rihanna and Kanye West) but ousted its predecessor in pretty much every other aspect, spending a total of 49 weeks in the top 100 compared to just 14 for Run This Town. It also became Jay-Z’s first #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 as the lead artist, spending 5 weeks at the top before being dethroned by the TiK ToK juggernaut. Run This Town peaked at number two, proving the UK charts got the peaks a bit backwards (interestingly though, the two charts agreed Young Forever (feat. Mr Hudson), third single in the UK and fourth in the USA, was a #10 hit, while fourth UK single/third US single On To The Next One (feat. Swizz Beatz) also came very close, getting to #37 in the USA and #38 in the UK). As well as the #4 peaking Alicia Keys solo version, one more version of Empire State Of Mind made the top 40 in 2011. Yes, you guessed it, the Glee Cast version, which got to #35 after being featured in the first episode of series two of Glee. Just to remind anyone who doesn’t remember, the reason it spiked back up to a new 2011 peak of #16 after 7 weeks pottering around the 18-25 region, the song was performed at the 2011 BRIT Awards. This song came 23rd in the Top 100 Downloads of All Time.

Never a fan of either Empire State of Mind. Particularly after radio latched onto them so much. Obviously gave them great longevity.

Strange, because I like Alicia and Jay-Z otherwise. Young Forever and Run This Town are great.

I think it's them singing about a city I've never been to. Can't connect with it.
