DJ... is TERRIBLE. :puke: Ugh. Can't stand it. Same with More and Dirty Dancer. Dreadful (and they all sound the same as each other to me, which doesn't help). OMG was a lot better and more creative at least.

In terms of the singles, it really was quite confusing. I used to hear Daddy's Home on the radio a bit. And I remember watching Lil Freak climb up iTunes, and just as it was about to take off they decided to release something else. :(

I thought DJ was the only redeeming feature about this era (it's quite good, actually). OMG was just terrible, and More is a complete non-event of a song (or a retread of DJ, depending on my mood).

To be honest, I took a quick glance at Usher's era on Wikipedia, looking at both the Raymond v Raymond and the Versus pages, and gave up trying to figure out how the singles had gone. So all that info's useful.

Usher's release schedules last era seem to be even more confusing than even Nicki Minaj's at the moment! :o

TRAVIE MCCOY FEAT. BRUNO MARS
“Billionaire”
from the album “Lazarus”
[August 2010]

When this song was first added to US iTunes, some people thought iTunes had spelled the singer’s name wrong. Travie McCoy’s real name is, of course, Travis McCoy - he had always been known as Travis before (or even more commonly as ‘the guy from Gym Class Heroes’) and had even had a small UK hit as Travis McCoy, featuring on Kelly Rowland’s 2008 #14 hit Daylight. So why was he suddenly being credited as ‘Travie’? The answer is we don’t know. Maybe he just prefers it that way. Anyway, Billionaire was the first solo single from the Gym Class Heroes lead singer and featured Bruno Mars, being the second of the two featured appearances Mars landed big hits with before launching his own career in a big way (the other being B.o.B’s Nothin’ On You which we’ve already come across). Its #3 peak means it remains Mars’ only proper, fully promoted single to miss the top spot in the UK. It’s musically very similar to Nothin’ On You. And why not? The formula worked the first time around, so why not do it again? Both songs were produced by the ridiculously named production trio The Smeezingtons, the biggest producers you’ve never heard of. They consist of Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine and some guy called Bruno Mars. Since they made their production début with Flo Rida’s Right Round (feat. Ke$ha) back in 2009, they’ve produced or co-produced no less than six UK number ones and three other UK top 3 hits. Four of the #1s were Mars’ own songs, granted, but those other five top 3 hits include songs by Sugababes (Get Sexy), K’naan (Wavin’ Flag) and Cee Lo Green (F**k You!). Billionaire is perhaps notable for having a swear word as its seventh or eighth word depending on whether you count ‘wanna’ as a single word or not. “I wanna be a billionaire so fucking bad” - great opening line there Bruno. For the radio edit they replaced it with ‘freaking’ but as there’s no other differences between the introductions it’s probably a bit tense for radio DJs pressing play on this and praying they didn’t accidentally put on the explicit version! Travie McCoy has proven to be a one hit wonder, with his second single We’ll Be Alright not even making the top 100 and début album Lazarus (that’s his middle name - subtle) only peaking at #69. However, in addition to Daylight Travie has also had one more UK hit as a solo artist, being featured in some of the many versions of Taio Cruz’s Higher which got to #8 in 2011. This song came 78th in the Top 100 Downloads of All Time.

I loved Billionaire at first, but it's average now. I thought it was certain to be a #1 aswell. It had so much hype around it.

Some of the production that the Smeezingtons did really surprises me! :o With all their soppy radio-friendly beats that they do with Bruno Mars, you'd never think they'd also have produced stuff like Right Round and Get Sexy (although it looks like they got a bit of help from Boom Boom Pow for the Get Sexy beat :kink:).

JUSTIN BIEBER FEAT. LUDACRIS

Bieber. Bieber, Bieber, Bieber. Possibly the most annoying singer to ever walk the planet. I’ve avoided giving any commentary on the Bieb in his three previous entries in this top 200, but let’s give you a little history on him. His full name is Justin Drew Bieber. He was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada on the 1st of March, 1994 (which means he’s shockingly as old as 17 and was 16 at the time of his chart peak - he’s thankfully gona a bit MIA in the UK recently, although he is back in the top 40 now featuring on Chris Brown’s Next 2 You). That makes him the highest Canadian representation in the year end chart. The Bieb is pretty much the archetypal ‘YouTube celebrity’. Back in 2008 someone called Scooter Braun discovered Justin’s videos on YouTube and for some reason saw fit to give him a record deal. He’s released a total of five albums in his short career - that annoying prepubescent voice is for some reason a big selling point so his record company have already crammed in his first 8-track EP My World, a proper length album My World 2.0 which by chart regulations was combined to My World in the UK (which thankfully means he has one less UK chart entry), an acoustic album imaginatively titled My Worlds Acoustic (also combined to My World in the UK), an album combining the two My Worlds and My Worlds Acoustic titled My Worlds - The Collection (which was also combined to My World in the UK) and finally a remix album, slightly more interestingly titled Never Say Never - The Remixes (which was unfortunately not combined in the UK, meaning he has had two ‘hit albums’ - My World entered at #4 and later peaked at #3 after the release of the ‘expanded edition’ and sold far more than it should have, while Never Say Never - The Remixes charted at #17 and gracefully vanished pretty quickly). Have you got that down? Alright. He had a short stint as a character on the TV show CSI where he made his only good career move of getting killed on screen - although unfortunately it wasn’t real. He was also for some reason allowed to release a movie called ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’. He’s extremely annoying for two main reasons. One is that his voice has been scientifically proven to drive your brain cells to suicide. The other is not necessarily his fault, but it must be said anyway - his army of ‘Beliebers’ (fans, but they thought they’d ‘retarded up’ the name) which consists of every stereotypical young girl and young homosexual boy in the world and no one else give Bieber a horrible name. I won’t go into details about Beliebers. If you know any of them, you already know why they’re terrible human beings. It’s probably fair to say Bieber is the most hated kid in the world. Does he deserve the hate? For his music, absolutely yes. As a person, probably not. I would feel sorry for him but to be honest he seems to deal with the hatred perfectly fine knowing he’s got masses of obsessive fans to make up for it and he’s probably swimming in money right now. He doesn’t care about your hating ways, HATERZ. *points at Bieber’s infamous ‘haterz’ quote in my signature* Besides, being a child celebrity never works out (Michael Jackson aside). Give him a few more years and he’ll be a drug addict. Baby (feat. Ludacris, the only entry in the top 200 for the American rapper whose real name is Christopher Bridges) was the second fully promoted UK single from My World and remains his biggest and most famous/infamous hit to date. He somehow managed to chart 8 different songs from his album on the UK top 100 - One Time peaked at #11, Somebody To Love at #33 and Never Say Never (feat. Jaden Smith) made #34, plus album tracks Love Me, One Less Lonely Girl, Favorite Girl, U Smile and Never Let You Go made #71, #62, #76, #98 and #84 respectively. He also charted at #9 with Eenie Meenie alongside Sean Kingston (we already came across that song in the countdown) and #39 thus far with the aforementioned Next 2 You with Chris Brown. A total of eleven top 100 entries with a combined total of 90 top 100 weeks. While Baby is the most viewed video on YouTube ever, it’s also the most disliked video on YouTube ever - 1,523,541 dislikes at the time I’m writing this and I’m sure it’ll have gone up by now. Also, according to YouTube commenters on the video, he’s dead.

Oh dear. I don't think you like Justin?

I don't mind him that much. I dunno, I don't find his fanbase annoying, and it's really not his fault that his voice is like that. I had a friend at school and his voice didn't start breaking until he was 17. It's bad to be in that situation, because there's really not much you can do about it.

In terms of his fans, I don't know any in real life, but even on the Internet I've never had a problem with them. I just never seem to cross paths with them really, and that's despite the fact that I like a lot of artists which Justin Bieber fans also probably like. I think Lady Gaga fans are the worst by far tbh.

Sorry for the waffle. The next song's commentary will be significantly shorter, I just had a lot to talk about regarding Bieber.

Lady GaGa 'fans' aren't the problem. I myself am a GaGa 'fan' but it's the 'monsters' that are the problem and give GaGa fans a bad name. Britney Spears fans are also very bad, I mean the deluded ones ofc - not people like you who are 'general fans' of her music. Justin Bieber's fanbase are the worst, I'm happy there are more haters than lovers. The thing I find annoying about JB fans is that they don't stop talking about how fit he is and how amazing his songs are - and the ones who try to attack the haters are annoying too, they should just give up and be happy there are many people like them who love JB's "singing" and looks

Edited by danielMFAO

GaGa's 'monsters' don't give her a bad name though?

GaGa's 'monsters' (deluded fans that think GaGa's new single is the greatest song of all time and all other female singers are crap etc.) give the fans a bad name (same with Jusitn Bieber fans) GaGa doesn't have a bad name herself, just anyone who likes her songs etc.

Edited by danielMFAO

you'll always get deluded fans of big artists such as Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, their looning sometimes puts me off the artist themselves personally :( (although that's just one of many reasons I dislike Bieber :P )

GaGa has loads of normal fans as well though. Bieber probably has some normal fans but they are vastly outnumbered by the raving hordes of 'Beliebers'.

DEAR GOD, all the Bieber discussion has caused Bieber ads to start showing up at the top of the page :puke:

I see your point about casual fans and the insane ones.

I don't think Brtiney fans are that bad either. When you consider how big a part of people's lives she's been, it's understandable that they love her.

For me, I've just found Justin Bieber fans keep themselves to themselves really. I don't really see much of them anywhere. If we talk about Youtube (since this is where you usually get the biggest mixture altogether), I don't really see many Justin fans at all. Infact, what I mainly see if people saying stuff like "I can't believe this video has less views than Baby", or Lady Gaga fans doing their weekly campaign to get Bad Romance the most views on Youtube (which a lot of them seem to be VERY bitter about). Which brings me on to why I find Lady Gaga fans so incredibly annoying. They're just EVERYWHERE. Unlike Justin's fans, I really can't avoid them. I go on a Katy Perry page, and Lady Gaga fans are there talking about Lady Gaga. I go to a Kelis page, yet again, Lady Gaga fans. I go to a Madonna page, oh, look, Lady Gaga fans again!

Maybe I am. :D I don't know any in real life, to be fair (although I don't really know any "Monsters" in real life either, come to think of it). Maybe the Beliebers are scared of me. :kink:

Strange, whenever I go on Youtube, there's normally at least one comment along the lines of 'This is real music, unlike Justin Bieber and his crap'. I occasionally see Gaga ones, but not too much. Youtube comments are the dark underbelly of the internet though, so I never pay attention to them, especially considering Gaga and Bieber comments are most of what I get.

The Beliebers can easily get a Twitter trend going as well, recently, there was #Beliebersarewinners or something recently.

Yeah, Justin Bieber is talked about a lot, but in a negative way, so much that I end up feeling sorry for him, whilst with Lady Gaga it's stuff like "OMG, Katy Perry is wearing the same colour eye shadow at 2:45 that Lady Gaga wore in her live performance of Paparazzi in 2010" or, "Ke$ha is trying to be Lady Gaga again. Lady Gaga already used unicorns in her videos", or "lol. Look at Christina. Remember when she used to be popular? It's great how Lady Gaga ended her career. She deserved it." or "Only Girl is nice, but Rihanna wouldn't still be around if it wasn't for Lady Gaga". Stuff like that. Honestly the most annoying stuff ever. I can't stand it.

True about Twitter though. He's often trending there.
