Posted December 27, 201014 yr Welcome :D Here are my Top 50 Songs and Top 20 Albums of 2010. We'll start with the songs first of all. There were 644 candidates all vying for a place in the top 50, so obviously some superb songs didn't make the cut. The 10 that just missed out are as follows: 51. Niamh Kavanagh - It's For You 52. Amy Macdonald - Spark 53. Sheelah - Pyscho 54. Killabite - Follow Me Home 55. Wildboyz feat. Ameerah - The Sound Of Missing You 56. Cheryl Cole - Parachute 57. Juliana Pasha - It's All About You 58. Michael Von Der Heide - Il Pleut De L'or 59. Selena Gomez & The Scene - Naturally 60. Basia Bulat - Gold Rush A shame they missed out, but onwards with the top 50. I'll post the chart in installments of 10 until we get to the top 10 where I'll elaborate more on the songs that feature that highly. So, numbers 50-41 are as follows: 50. Joshua Radin - Brand New Day [#1 for 1 Week] 49. Unique - Unhappy Ending Dream [#1 for 1 Week] 48. The Saturdays - Missing You [#1 for 1 Week] 47. Caro Emerald - Back It Up [#2 for 2 Weeks] 46. Ellie Goulding - The Writer [#1 for 1 Week] 45. Kylie Minogue - Get Outta My Way [#1 for 2 Weeks] 44. SomethingALaMode featuring Karl Lagerfeld - RondoParisiano [#1 for 1 Week] 43. Katzenjammer - Tea With Cinnamon [#1 for 1 Week] 42. Sieneke - Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-La-Lie) [#4 for 1 Week] 41. Jérémy Amelin featuring Angelika - Oh, Oh! [#2 for 1 Week] Only just making it into the top 50 is Joshua Radin with Brand New Day, an mid-tempo acoustic track not too disimilar to Mr Rock & Roll by Amy Macdonald. A decent tune, but not number one worthy looking back. Hungarian dance act Unique place themselves at 49 with a rare English language release that reminded me of Black/Tina Cousins' Wonderful Life. The Saturdays' big ballad Missing You scrapes in at 48, a great song from a very strong album - the video however had some very bizarre dance moves that really don't match the song. Dutch songstress Caro Emerald appears at 47 with the sophisticated jazz number, Back It Up, she should hopefully be one to watch in 2011. A lovely ballad from the Sound of 2010 Ellie Goulding is at 46 whilst the second single from Kylie's Aphrodite album is at 45. One of the first number ones of the year from French electro/strings duo SomethingALaMode and fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld makes it to number 44 whilst the jovial Norwegian four-piece girlgroup Katzenjammer are at 43. The Dutch Eurovision entry, a cute fairground-folk ditty which one can't help but smile at makes it to 42 while trashy French electro-pop in the form of Oh, Oh! pips it to 41. Unique - Unhappy Ending Dream OXJlq1oQvoo SomethingALaMode featuring Karl Lagerfeld - RondoParisiano jjsVFBqWivU Katzenjammer - Tea With Cinnamon fKxfiQCfEVI Lorraine Kelly Sieneke - Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-La-Lie) wzRHqOSg--s Jérémy Amelin featuring Angelika - Oh, Oh! nJ0Ny6LUQ58 Edited December 27, 201014 yr by Ghosthunter
December 27, 201014 yr Interesting to see Jane McDonald Sieneke in the top 50 there :kink: Seriously though, great start - Get Outta My Way much lower than I expected :o I was always surprised that Joshua Radin went to #1 in your chart in the first place! Shame Niamh, Sheelah and Cheryl all just missed out on a spot in the top 50 - all great songs! Missing You was very underappreciated I think! Great song by The Sats!

Shame Niamh, Sheelah and Cheryl all just missed out on a spot in the top 50 - all great songs! Missing You was very underappreciated I think! Great song by The Sats! I always thought she looked more like Lorraine myself, but I can see Jane in her too :kink: I was amazed to learn that she was only 17  Get Outta My Way's popularity has waned slightly on me recently, but I still really like it. Brand New Day was very much an "of the moment" song, it didn't hang around my chart long. Missing You is great, i agree :D
December 27, 201014 yr I always thought she looked more like Lorraine myself, but I can see Jane in her too :kink: I was amazed to learn that she was only 17  Get Outta My Way's popularity has waned slightly on me recently, but I still really like it. Brand New Day was very much an "of the moment" song, it didn't hang around my chart long. Missing You is great, i agree :D And me! I swear to god I thought she was early 40's for ages! I still love Get Outta My Way although it's got nothing on the opus that is All The Lovers
December 28, 201014 yr Author And me! I swear to god I thought she was early 40's for ages! I still love Get Outta My Way although it's got nothing on the opus that is All The Lovers  And All The Lovers is where we start the next part of the countdown :D 40-31 40. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers [#1 for 1 Week] 39. Jenny Silver - A Place To Stay [#2 for 1 Week] 38. Marina & The Diamonds - Mowgli's Road [#1 for 1 Week] 37. Selena Gomez & The Scene - A Year Without Rain [#2 for 1 Week] 36. Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No! [#2 for 1 Week] 35. Sukkerchok - Kæmper For Kærlighed [#5 for 1 Week] 34. Ivi Adamou - Sose Me [#1 for 2 Weeks] 33. Bananarama - Love Don't Live Here [#2 for 1 Week] 32. Haffi Haff - Jealousy [#1 for 1 Week] 31. Iamamiwhoami - T [#5 for 1 Week] The amazing All The Lovers by Kylie opens the top 40, a superb return to form for the singer. A Melodifestivalen flop in the form of Jenny Silver is at 39, a downtempo electro number that I (and probably I alone) loved. The first of two Marina singles in this section is at 38, Mowgli's Road took 8 weeks to reach it's top spot status, originally charting with me in November 2009 thus making it one of the oldest songs in this chart. Selena Gomez's recent single appears at 37 whilst the second Marina single here is at 36. Danish pop trio Sukkerchok make a surprise appearance at 35 with their Eurovision attempt whilst one of Caerfyrddia's BJSC entries by Ivi Adamou makes it to 34. A somewhat random release from Bananarama is at 33 and the Icelandic male equivalent of Lady GaGa makes it to 32. One of the major phenomenons (for me) of 2010 ends this part, the mesmerising Iamamiwhoami A.K.A. Jonna Lee. If you haven't seen all the videos, then you must - preview clips, music videos and all sorts of mysteries kept viewers intrigued before it culminated in a spectacular hour long concert video. Absolutely stunning. December 28, 201014 yr Kylie only #40 :o :( I thought it might be top 10/20! Loving that section though, A Place To Stay was an early MF favourite of mine also, although like I said to you once before, there's a bit before the final chorus which doesn't seem quite well timed enough (like it misses a bar or something) which puts me off it a bit when I hear it
December 29, 201014 yr Author t  It's great isn't it, in fact the whole Iamamiwhoami concept was simply stunning  Kylie only #40 :o :( I thought it might be top 10/20! Loving that section though, A Place To Stay was an early MF favourite of mine also, although like I said to you once before, there's a bit before the final chorus which doesn't seem quite well timed enough (like it misses a bar or something) which puts me off it a bit when I hear it  #40 is pretty high for it I thought :o . Yeah, the final chorus on A Place To Stay does come in earlier than expected - I imagine that's the bit that was edited to make the song fit into the 3 minute timeframe :kink:
December 29, 201014 yr Author 30-21 30. Katie Melua - The Flood [#4 for 1 Week] 29. Music Go Music - Light Of Love [#5 for 1 Week] 28. Patrick Wolf - Time Of My Life [#1 for 1 Week] 27. Ellie Goulding - Your Song [#1 for 1 Week] 26. Alesha Dixon - Drummer Boy [#1 for 1 Week] 25. Kelly Rowland featuring David Guetta - Commander [#1 for 1 Week] 24. Margaret Berger - Will You Remember Me Tomorrow [#8 for 1 Week] 23. Pavla - Infatuated [#1 for 1 Week] 22. Amy Macdonald - Don't Tell Me That It's Over [#1 for 1 Week] 21. Oesch's Die Dritten - Jodel-Time [#1 for 1 Week] Opening the top 30 is Katie Melua and her spectacular track, The Flood which could have been the UK Eurovision entry this year but was sadly shunned by the BBC in favour of Pete Waterman... truly bizarre! The ABBA-esque Light Of Love by Music Go Music is at 29 whilst Patrick Wolf appears at 28 with his recent single. Ellie Goulding's wonderful take on the Elton John classic is at 27 whilst a rowdy number from Alesha Dixon makes it to 26 - it reminded me of something Ukraine or Moldova would send to Eurovision... lots of drums and wailing. A dancefloor classic from Kelly Rowland is at 25 whilst a somewhat ancient Margaret Berger track makes it to number 24 - it was only this year that I heard the song :drama: . It's one of those songs that keeps on giving though and despite it's low peak on my chart, I still absolutely adore it. A trashy Russian Eurovision pre-selection song is at 23 and Amy Macdonald's comeback single makes it to number 22. Finally, just missing out on the top 20 is another Caerfyrddia BJSC entry and a very fine slice of yodelling action from family act Oesch's Die Dritten. December 29, 201014 yr T, now I know who submitted this :D There is going to be a lot of Eurovision tracks in this chart :drama:
December 29, 201014 yr #40 is pretty high for it I thought :o . Yeah, the final chorus on A Place To Stay does come in earlier than expected - I imagine that's the bit that was edited to make the song fit into the 3 minute timeframe :kink: Maybe I had rose coloured glasses on seeing as it finished at #2 in my EOY chart, and seeing as it made #1 in your weekly chart too, I assumed it would be much higher  Definitely, it's a shame if that was the case as it sounded quite dodgy to my ears, like the ESC edit of Jade's song last year. The ending felt very rushed :drama: 30-21 30. Katie Melua - The Flood [#4 for 1 Week] 29. Music Go Music - Light Of Love [#5 for 1 Week] 28. Patrick Wolf - Time Of My Life [#1 for 1 Week] 27. Ooh, I also expected The Flood somewhat higher than #30 :o Love that, as well as Your Song and Margaret Berger. Always found Commander overrated, thought Amy's song was a weak comeback and didn't like Jodel-Time as you know :heehee: I completely get what you say about Alesha though, and I do think that song could have done very well in ESC, but it wasn't right for a comeback single for a British artist
December 29, 201014 yr Author T, now I know who submitted this :D There is going to be a lot of Eurovision tracks in this chart :drama: It could just be a fabulous coincidence :D There are a lot yeah, but I don't think there are as many as in previous years :o Maybe I had rose coloured glasses on seeing as it finished at #2 in my EOY chart, and seeing as it made #1 in your weekly chart too, I assumed it would be much higher  Definitely, it's a shame if that was the case as it sounded quite dodgy to my ears, like the ESC edit of Jade's song last year. I was expecting Get Outta My Way to finish higher than it here though tbh, but when I gave both tracks another listen I much preferred All The Lovers :o . Yeah, the re-edit of Jade's entry was horrendous, especially the final big note - thank goodness she improvised a bit when performing it live to make it sound better! The Flood is a song I regret not putting top 3 in my chart, but #30 is a fair position for it here imo. I can see what you mean with Commander, but the chorus is just too epic, especially when it comes on in a club. Jodel-Time is amazing! :P Drummer Boy would have been a fantastic entry for us at Eurovision, I wouldn't be surprised if she gets entered by the BBC in the next couple of years tbh.
December 30, 201014 yr Author Taking a break from the singles countdown, this is my top 20 albums of 2010: 20. Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite 19. Eric Saade - Masquerade 18. Cerys Matthews - Tir 17. Music Go Music - Expressions 16. Hurts - Happiness 15. Various Artists - Melodifestivalen 2010 14. Brigita Šuler - Ne Dam Srca 13. Tove Styrke - Tove Styrke 12. Agnes - Dance Love Pop (UK Edition) 11. The Saturdays - Headlines 10. Medina - Welcome To Medina 09. Tone Damli - I Know (UK Edition) 08. Various Artists - Eurovision Song Contest: Oslo 2010 07. The Storm - Black Luck 06. Caro Emerald - Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor 05. Elin Lanto - Love Made Me Do It 04. Marina & The Diamonds - The Family Jewels 03. Timoteij - Längtan 02. Ellie Goulding - Bright Lights 01. Hera Björk - Je Ne Sais Quoi It's a distinctly international affair when it comes to the best albums of 2010, with only 5 British releases appearing. Kylie made a strong return this year with the well-rounded Aphrodite album and just about makes it into the top 20. Swedish teen sensation Eric Saade's debut is at 19 and a traditional Welsh language folk album from former Catatonia frontwoman Cerys Matthews appears at number 18. Music Go Music are at 17 drawing inspiration from acts such as Abba for their album whilst in stark contrast, Hurts appear with their sombre affair, ironically titled Happiness, at 16. The annual Melodifestivalen compilation is at 15 whilst the long awaited second album from Slovenian soloist Brigita Šuler is at 14. Swedish pop starlet Tove Styrke's self titled work is at 13 while fellow Swedish citizen Agnes just beats her to number 12 with the UK version of Dance Love Pop. Just missing out on a spot in the top 10 is The Saturdays with their mini LP, Headlines. Danish singer Medina opens the top 10 with Norwegian singer Tone Damli just edging ahead of her at number 9. This year's Eurovision compilations finishes in a lowly 8th place just behind Danish metal act The Storm with their second album. Dutch Jazz singer Caro Emerald is at number 6 with her record breaking (in Holland) LP and more Swedish pop from Elin Lanto appears at number 5. Marina & The Diamonds did Wales proud with her album, The Family Jewels which is at number 4 in this countdown. Swedish girl group Timoteij open the top 3 with their debut album full of scandi-folk/pop delight while the BBC Sound of 2010 Ellie Goulding just misses out on the top spot with the superb repackaged album, Bright Lights. Icelandic singer Hera Björk completes the chart with her fabulous feelgood europop album, Je Ne Sais Quoi.
December 30, 201014 yr Great albums top 20! Medina, Timoteij and Caro would have all been top 30 on mine if I'd gone that far...expected Hurts much higher than #16, this is the chart of shocks! And Hera looking set to do the double? :P
January 1, 201114 yr Author Great albums top 20! Medina, Timoteij and Caro would have all been top 30 on mine if I'd gone that far...expected Hurts much higher than #16, this is the chart of shocks! And Hera looking set to do the double? :P The Hurts album, although strong, didn't have as many key standout tracks are the albums above it, so that affected it's position slightly. I am very happy with my albums top 20 though as I love all the albums included  . Hera is very much looking set to do the double, will anyone stop her? :o Continuing with ths singles rundown, we have numbers 20-11: 20. Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (#7 for 1 Week) 19. Ellie Goulding - Guns And Horses (#10 for 1 Week) 18. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Bittersweet (#1 for 2 Weeks) 17. Feminnem - Lako Je Sve (#2 for 1 Week) 16. Caro Emerald - A Night Like This (#9 for 1 Week) 15. CC & Lee - Better Best Forgotten (#1 for 2 Weeks) 14. Tove Styrke - White Light Moment (#1 for 2 Weeks) 13. The Storm - Wall Of Shame (#1 for 1 Week) 12. Lena - Satellite (#3 for 1 Week) 11. Timoteij - Högt Över Ängarna (#2 for 3 Weeks) This sections features a lot of lower charting singles that grew on me throughout the year, in most cases after they had left the chart. Most notably of these are two Ellie Goulding singles that open the top 20. Fuelled by her magnificent album, my love for Starry Eyed and Guns And Horses grew steadily over the course of the year, hence their high positions on this chart. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is at number 18 with the wonderful Bittersweet. Croatia's flop Eurovision entry from Feminnem is at 17, a song which takes a bit of time to get into but will become a firm favourite long after. Another low peaking single at 16 from Caro Emerald. A Night Like This only really struck me with its brilliance months after it left my chart, it could be a future number one on my chart though with it's scheduled 2011 UK release. CC & Lee are at 15 an catchy ABBA pastiche and fellow Nordic artist Tove Styrke makes it to number 14 with the divine White Light Moment. Danish metal group The Storm are at number 13 with Wall Of Shame, another of Caerfyrddia's BJSC entries and this years Eurovision winner, Lena from Germany is at number 12 with Satellite. Swedish girlgroup Timoteij make it to number 11 with Högt Över Ängarna, a song I do regret not putting at number one for at least 1 week.
January 1, 201114 yr Great to see Lena do so well, I didn't expect it as I didn't remember it spending long in the top 5 of your chart...nice to see some songs that have grown on you doing a lot better. I guess I did the same with Je Ne Sais Quoi as based on its weekly peak it should have been about #85 in my EOY chart as opposed to #36  Although it did hang around for AGES! Obviously not as long as it's hung around in your chart though :heehee: Amazing to see Tove top 20 too, and Caro doing so well despite her low peak  I'm trying to think of songs in your top ten...Je Ne Sais Quoi, Kom, Promise This, This Is My Life, Headlines, Manipulated, Since You Been Gone, Työlki Eellää, Playing With Fire and Wonderful Life?

Lena spent 35 weeks on my chart and was one of the last Eurovision entries I was playing regularly, my love for it grew over a longer period, whereas my love for some other Eurovision entries was pretty instant, but deminished quickly. You are rather close with your predictions there :P
January 1, 201114 yr Author Into the top 10... 10. Alcazar - Headlines Date of Chart Entry: 7th March Peak Position: 1 Weeks on Chart: 10 Chart Run: 2-1-4-8-4-2-6-15-19-28-OUT Kicking off the top 10 is Swedish pop trio, Alcazar. Headlines was their entry into the 2010 Melodifestivalen, a Swedish song contest where the winner represents that country in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song made it as far as the second chance round before failing to reach the final. A catchy tune, but nowhere near as amazing as 2009's Stay The Night. 6781otEQKSY Edited January 1, 201114 yr by Ghosthunter
January 1, 201114 yr Author 09. Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life Date of Chart Entry: 7th March Peak Position: 1 Weeks on Chart: 32 Chart Run: 20-23-6-1-2-4-3-8-16-15-23-5-9-15-28-36-28-37-48-52-44-49-53-43-41-39-40-52-51-49-51-51-OUT The eventual winner of Melodifestivalen and Sweden's Eurovision entry just beats Alcazar in this chart. The superb acoustic balled from Anna was a huge fan favourite prior to the contest, but spectacularly failed to proceed to the final of the competition. It was a huge shame. And who can forget the classic line "strike an eyeron" 5P1neQKN-1k
January 1, 201114 yr Author 08. Hurts - Wonderful Life Date of Chart Entry: 5th July 2009; Re-entry 29th August 2010 Peak Position: 1 Weeks on Chart: 46 Chart Run: 24-15-26-48-55-59-63-13-14-18-17-22-41-51-76-77-86-98-76-88-86-74-54-13-16-24-21-10-7-5-16-32-47-49-26 Weeks Out-1-3-2-6-6-14-17-11-15-24-31-59-OUT A higgledy-piggledy chart run for this sublime 80's influenced piece of sombre synthpop from the Manchester duo. Originally charting for me in mid-2009, it took 60 weeks before finally reaching the top spot after a previous peak of number 5. Both of the videos were fantastic also  cYnIX9xjsZM
