BUZZJACK FILM CLUB

Welcome to the Buzzjack film club, every month we shall be picking and then discussing a film, there is no join up required but feel free to let us know you will be joining us, to take part all you need to do is simply, watch the film, but you can also vote for what film we watch and even suggest a film.

There isnt any boundaries for films to be chosen, but the film must not be the same genre or by the same director as the film from the previous month (to prevent us from discussing a similar film to the one we just discussed), and also will not be one suggested by the person who suggested the one from the previous month. As a fair few responses appear to be people wanting to discover films they would not want otherwise, we aim to verge away from major hollywood productions that everyone's seen before (Harry Potter, Avatar etc), but i'm not putting in a specific rule as there can be great discussions to be had about some big films, if anything unless they are mindless Michael Bay films or something new enough that it's already going to be discussed in the forum then it won't be an issue.

It works like this:

-Step one, towards the end of each month I will ask for film suggestions via PM (but I am only accepting up to 5 suggestions overall)

-Step two, i shall create a poll in the forum where you can vote for which of the suggestions you would most like to watch and discuss, this shall last a week

-Step three, i shall create a discussion thread for the month where we shall discuss that month's film.

Film club members:

(people who have replied to this topic/other film club topics, now and again i might PM people on this list reminders to vote or what not, but i'll try not to often, if you want on/off this list just give me a shout)

Hmm, I think I would like something like this. Good chance to get away from Sandra Bullock movies and Jennifer Aniston rom coms

I think monthly would be better, some people might not have the time to watch a movie a week (not me, I have too much time)

I'm a maybe but will probably get involved.

I would be interested. Although I'm awful at doing reviews and things, it'll all get repetitive and sound the same and things. But i'll give it a go and I think monthly will be plenty. We don't want to over do it, but we want it regularly enough. Or if there's a small number of us interested in doing it and things then maybe PM everyone asking them if they want to do another film (providing we've all given reviews and stuff by then).

i'm not sure whether reviews shall be enforced or not, as long as there is somewhat intelligent discussion going, obviously if people did reviews that would help get discussion going, just like people say what they thought, what they liked, what they didnt like, if they liked the film and why they liked or disliked it, and then people can respond to this if they agree or disagree with this person or not and why the agree or disagree.

basically as long as it's not like "i liked tuh muvie" or "i agree wid dis", then I don't see there being an issue. As long as people contribute to discussion.

Oh and as for timings, I think a week would definatly has to little time. I think 2 weeks could work well (one week to choose and watch, another week to discuss). A month would probaly be best as gives most time for suggestions, then picking which of the suggestions, then plenty of time to watch the film and discuss it.
This sounds good to me! I need to broaden my overall film knowledge tbh...so I wouldn't be good at suggesting ones to watch but would love to watch the ones suggested! :D

Love the idea!

Count me in :D

I quite like this, would get people to check out films other than the big blockbusters etc and also liven up the forum a bit, yeah I'm up for it!
I'm for it! I love watching movies and getting to see some films that i wouldn't have otherwise seen would be great

ok as we have 9 people up for this already, i'm gonna start this like right now. in this thread as to not to spam up the film forum.

first of all, like I mentioned before, no sign up thread, if you want to suggest a film suggest one, if you want to vote for which suggestion be the film vote, if you want to watch and discuss the film watch and discuss the film.

SO,

If you would like to suggest a film, send me a PM, I would like 3-5 films for the poll, so once I have 4 PM's (as i'll be suggesting a film myself), i'll say so, which is why you should suggest asap. Then on January 1st I shall create a poll of the suggested films with trailers, syponisis' etc, and then have the poll last for one week in which watching and discussion on the winning film can start.

I'm setting no rules for what can be suggested but just don't suggest anything too obvious, it donest have to be majorly obscure just so long as it's something most people havent seen (i.e don't vote big blockbusters that everyones seen).

Yay! I'm in. I barely watch films, i downloaded a great amount of them but can't get to choose which ones i want to watch. Now there will be an excuse!

This is why I'm doing it  - I actually seem to be interested in watching the indie flicks, but I can never be assed, so doing this will get me to do it

Still room for 3 more submissions.
I'd definetly do this, although not sure how good my film critique is haha. So I'd probably end up loving movies people hated, and vice versa :(. But yeah, I'll give it a go!

well the great thing about films is that they are subjective and everyone has their own individual response to a film, that and it's a good thing if you have the different view to most people, would be boring if everyone just had the same view.

i'm glad theres a decent amount of enthusiasm in this thread, i'm hoping this is gonna work well.

I don't think i have any movies to submit apart from the obvious ones like Black Swan, Rabbit Hole and the likes. :(
