Owen lol, he would cost almost nothing if anyone wanted him, and he's not good enough to be in the starting 11 of any club in the Premiership anymore imo. Even if Sunderland did move for him, it'd only be as backup behind Gyan, Welbeck, Campbell (when he returns) and a good new striker.

Are you mental? The club would go into meltdown if we got rid of Bent and replaced him with Owen. In fact i'd personally piggyback Bruce out of the club. Owen's well passed it and he's a crock.

I'm absolutely gutted that he's handed in a request, I don't care about the money he's scored 32 goals in 58 games for us which for an unfashionable team is unheard of. I really hope Bruce has somebody lined up to replace him, Gyan's hit and miss, Welbeck looks a prospect but is still very young and i'm not sure United would let us have him, and Campbell is out for another month or so.

I only mentinoed Owen because he is a goalscorer. If you don't replace a goalscorer with a goalscorer, and your midfield don't chip in often enough that is when your team struggles. January is a bad time to lose a big player, so maybe a loan option might occur? Or Bruce might just wait until the summer? I can't think who else might be possiblr, Suarez maybe as he's continually being linked with a move away from Ajax...

Owen's also old, way past his best and can't keep fit. Not needed.

And if we get Suarez here i'll streak through the city during rush hour. Clearly not going to happen.

Plus the fact he was a magpie doesn't really help does it!!!

No, not particularly. People still haven't warmed to Bruce because of his Geordie roots, even after a year and a half in charge and having lead us to our highest Premier League finish since 2001 (And looking like we might finish higher than that this season), and attracted players that we could have only dreamed about buying with McCarthy/Wilkinson/Keane/Sbragia in charge.

I would be massively disappointed if Suarez was even linked with Sunderland - the guy is the biggest cheat I have ever seen on a football field. Besides, only a madman would put him on the same teamsheet as Asamoah Gyan - surely they can never play together after the World Cup quarter final?

At the moment it looks like everyone linked with Sunderland has had their value doubled - there's no way N'Zogbia or Pavlyuchenko are worth over £10m is there? Are they tracking Robbie Keane?

Suarez is going to Liverpool apparently. He is a cheat yes, and he's a character that is loved by the Ajax fans but hated by all the other supporters. My only problem with him going to Liverpool is we need wingers before we get another striker.

Keane is past his best though? He'd be a good signing, but for him to play well the team has to be built around him.

Bent's move is genuinely hard to fathom, although I've been saying to my brother for a while he hasn't looked as comfortable as last season. Maybe Gyan's arrival unsettled him a bit. Villa have got a proven goalscorer who Spurs were mad to let go of Only Drogba and Rooney have scored more since 2005 - with 82 to Bent's 81. And given the calibre of club Bent has been playing for compared to the other two, that's all the more impressive. So WELL DONE HOULLIER. His signing of Makoun has gone somewhat under the radar because of this, but I think he'll prove to be a shrewd move too.

Arsenal need another CB and we've been linked with anyone who can stick a leg out and win the ball. Samba and Cahill seem the likely targets, though Mexes is being mentioned once again. And apparently we're in a bidding war with United for Sergio Ramos, which seems a bit ridiculous, Madrid will never let him leave!

Yeah, Niall Quinn's ruled out a move for Robbie Keane. Apparently Sunderland are going to pick up Ricardo Fuller but he simply isn't good enough. That said, they do need strikers desperately, Gyan is the only recognised fit one they have with Campbell and Welbeck both ruled out for some time.

Hard to say who's available, but then I wouldn't have thought Bent was available...

Maybe they could finally play David Healy?!

Forest seem to be buying their way to the Premier League at the moment but I'm quite happy for them to do so given the rewards. We're doing very well considering our squad. We had six strikers but none of them have really done anything this season, the signing of Marcus Tudgay is a fantastic bit of business and he's already our top scoring striker, I'm hoping Findley will be likewise and if we do get Tshabalala who we've apparently got on trial we might have some creativity and sort out the stat that we've created the least chances out of anyone in the league. Anderson has been dire this season and Cohen is well out of form. We do need some defenders though, as we're now left with three that are competant at this level.

I'm not even sure where he is these days! Out on loan somewhere? Wikipedia says Doncaster Rovers...nope, don't think he can just jump from there back into the Premiership!

Have you not been linked with Martin Woolford of Scunthorpe? Wooly is my favourite player ever  He was a breath of fresh air at York, when in these days proper wingers are a dying breed.

Paving the way for Torres to Chelsea?!?!///

In other news, BBC Sport are saying Rodallega is a potential replacement for Bent @@@ sunderland.

Nahh no chance this is a set-up for Torres leaving. Don't even think Suarez is being signed as a Torres replacement, I think he's been signed to play on the left of the 4-1-3-1-1 formation Liverpool seem to be playing at the moment...

Chelsea's bid for Torres is just sheer desperation anyway imo. Hope he doesn't go, and I can't help but feel SKY are making a huge f***ing mountain out of a molehill.

Torres and Suarez up front is BLISSNESS. Hopefully they can really fire up the reds! 7th isn't too bad considering this is P*SSPOOR form by us this season. Nice signing Kenny :D

Anywayz, Torres ain't going NOWHERE - Red THRU&THRU. YNWA

Wouldn't mind Rodallega here in honesty but Bruce has said he's not in the market for another striker currently. Pleasing in the sense we won't be fleeced by clubs and end up paying over-the-odds for players who probably won't justify their price tags but on the flip side of things we're going into a run of games against Chelsea, Stoke, Spurs and Everton with only one fit striker, which is a huge risk to take.

It looks likely we'll be getting Sessegnon (£6m) and Muntari (Loan) in before the window closes, two good signings methinks. Not the sort of players we'd have been able to get in a couple of seasons ago.

Newcastle have rejected a £23m bid for Carroll from Spurs aswell, jeez would definitely seem strikers are the flavour of the months!

Torres hands in transfer request... my only reaction as a Manc is HAHA, doesn't he have a £50 million buyout clause? Chelsea would be mad not to trigger it.

As for West Ham, our pursuit of Robbie Keane is encouraging. We need a proper goalscorer, Cole has never quite got there but he's still immensely valuable. Bridge is a good loan deal since we had no fit left back, and O'Neil could do a job I suppose. Jury's out on Demba Ba.
