Hi folks, not been around for ages but been having a lot of problems at home. Dad, who's 90 was taken into hospital a week ago Friday with a heart attack :( Up to now he's been mum's main carer so have been a bit frantic trying to get a care package in for her as well. But things are gradually sorting themselves out now so I promise to post a bit more regularly ;)

Very sorry to hear about your Dad Lainey. Hope he's as well as can be expected. Similar thing happened to me a few years ago (although my Dad didn't have a heart attack) - he was the main carer for my mother, it took a lot of time and trouble to get a care package together which suited her, but I got there in the end.

Thanks for the good wishes folks. Sorry to hear you had a hard time getting it sorted Chrysalis, have to admit in our case the Social Services have been wonderfully supportive - so hopefully that will continue ;)

 

 

I've no doubt the Social Services will continue to be supportive Lainey. It's a worrying time all the same.

 

In my case Social Services wasn't the problem - it was my mother. She was very cantakerous, and after staying with me for 3/4 months insisted on going home and carrying on as if my dad was still there. But he wasn't, and I lived 100 miles round trip away so the care package had to be for 24/7. Anyway in the end it worked well, and the SS were great once I was able to get a package together that suited her.

Not sure what's happening on the OS, don't think the Mods were warned about it either. Something to do with new software but it's not fully in place yet. Hope we get some more smilies though ;)

I see they're not much further forward with the "new look" OS. :( Looks really tacky - and all the lovely banners - where are they? Not that I had a lovely banner, but others always brightened things up.

All the banners are there when you go to post a reply, they just aren't showing up yet, :( I'm sure they'll sort everything out soon, but it all looks a bit bare over there at the moment and it would have been nice if admin had told us about it in advance, but that's never been the O/S strong point has it? :lol: Thank god Devoted is easier to navigate, it may be a bigger site but it's a lot easier to post on. :D

very disappointed with the O/S every other site you get warning from the admin.. and not to even tell the mods is wrong... it looks really $h!te over there... it taking a while to sort out
