It’s a new year and a new number 1. The Wanted climb from 8 to 1 with the third single from their self titled debuted album, only just manages to knock off last weeks number one All Over The World, which drops to 3 this week. Cheryl Cole climbs to her highest position on my chart, #2 with newest single The Flood. This weeks highest new entry is a song which is a few years old, The Getaway by Hilary Duff charts after I rediscovered it recently, and is included in one of the video highlights from this weeks chart. In at 20 thanks to new year play is Mariah Carrey with Auld Lang Sang, don’t expect this to hang around for long though, as like New Year the song is over. With the mass exit of Christmas songs from the chart very few survived into the first chart of 2011, like Mariah they probably wont survive much longer in The Martyn Chart. New entries this week also come from Eric Saade (number 25), September (number 35) and Avril (number 37), Eric and Avril’s songs are serving as lead singles from their new albums. Me and My Microphone is the English language version of Septembers latest hit in Sweden, which has been at number 1 there for 6 weeks.
