November 12, 201113 yr Well, we should take into consideration that the last edition of the chart was two weeks ago but still - "We Found Love" is only the sixth song to debut straight at number 1 in MTV European Top 20. The first two cases happened in the "classic" period of the chart - "Back For Good" by Take That in 1995 and "Candle In The Wind '97" by Elton John in 1997. The other three cases happened in the new period of the chart - "Bodies" by Robbie Williams in 2009; "Alors On Danse" by Stromae and "Satellite" by Lena both in 2010.

November 25, 201113 yr Two consecutive weeks with a new entry straight at number 2... Nowadays it seems easier to debut in the Top 10 than on a position between number 11 and number 20! Katy Perry joins the not so long list of occasions where six singles from one album have appeared in European Top 20 - "The One That Got Away", of course, being the 6th. The previous five all reached the Top 3 so this newest single has some work to do! And what to say about Rihanna... Since 2005 she has scored a total of THIRTEEN number ones in European Top 20!!!!!! That makes more than two chart-toppers per year... Here is the full list: "Pon De Replay", "S.O.S.", "Unfaithful", "Umbrella", "Shut Up And Drive", "Don't Stop The Music", "Take A Bow", "Disturbia", "Russian Roulette", "Love The Way You Lie", "Only Girl In The World", "What's My Name?" and "We Found Love"!

November 29, 201113 yr Anyone remember what this show was? icrHtwxXQzs It says "Austria: This week at #21" This is the European Top 20, the version we have from 89 - 90, and Vaya Con Dios is probably a bubbler on this chart with "Puerto Rico". The end of this clip reveals that the chart is dated 890926 as Philippe Lafontaine with "Coeur de loup" enters the chart at No. 17 climbing from No. 28 (not 29 as it says in my earlier post).

December 4, 201113 yr As far as I know, "Turning Tables" by Adele doesn't have an official video. When "Someone Like You" first appeared in European Top 20, they played a live performance of it. Are they playing a live performance of "Turning Tables" on MTV nowadays?

December 17, 201113 yr Now this is remarkable! "Riding Home" by Marlon Roudette becomes replaced in the chart by his PREVIOUS single "New Age"! Can anyone think of another occasion when a single by an artist has appeared in European Top 20 before an earlier single by that artist?
December 18, 201113 yr Now this is remarkable! "Riding Home" by Marlon Roudette becomes replaced in the chart by his PREVIOUS single "New Age"! Can anyone think of another occasion when a single by an artist has appeared in European Top 20 before an earlier single by that artist? No Doubt is an example. The first single released from the "Tragic Kingdom" album of 1996 was actually "Just A Girl" but entered the ET20 by replacing the second single "Don´t Speak". That was obviously because "Just A Girl" was bigger upon its re-release after the hit "Don´t Speak". In Marlon's case: I don't understand why "Riding Home" was charting in the first place. It's not really doing anything anywhere in Europe...

December 21, 201113 yr I know the original 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' tends to sell fairly well across European iTunes at this time of year but seeing the Justin Bieber version entering at #1 is just LOL worthy.
December 25, 201113 yr Well, I can see why they would put this version of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in the chart and not the original. On the one hand, they probably wanted to finally acknowledge that the song is doing well in Europe every year at this time. On the other hand, it probably made no sense to them to allow such an old re-entry in the chart... So they decided to let in a new version including an artist who has become popular recently... Still, even Mariah Carey's original would have been a shocking chart-topper. However, this duet with Justin Bieber has to be the most absurd number 1 ever in the history of European Top 20! I think it beats for absurdity even "Let It Rock" by Kevin Rudolf and Lil' Wayne!...
December 25, 201113 yr Just a note, tsetsi - the song at number 20 is "The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry.
