I actually do think that Kath :heehee: I like The Beatles but god they're the most overrated act in music history :P

Tut! Tut! Surprised at you Swagger! I don't even LIKE Lennon & McCartney (as people) ... but no way are Take That even a quarter as good as The Beatles!

But then again ... who is?

For me Elvis and the Beatles are by far the 2 most over rated acts in the history of music, granted i did buy the beatles greatest hits as i like few songs but overall i dont rate them to highly, elvis i cant stand at all. While 95% of music lovers would slate me for saying this i think there are many many acts who are far better than bands like the beatles and take that for me are one of them.

I'm sorry - but to say that the Beatles were overrated is just one darned silly statement to make. They defined the course of music and without them ... there would be no Take That!

And ... I'm not even a fan of Elvis Presley - but without him a lot of true blues music would have remained undiscovered and unappreciated.

I'm sorry - but this board is full of sh/t sometimes!

And before anyone says it - I do still like TT and their music ... but for god's sake - do NOT put them on the same plane as The Beatles or Elvis Presley - because they don't even come close.

Yeap you're spot on, The Beatles are so over rated its become quite funny. To be honest with you there would be quite a high pecentage who agree with you in relation to many better acts than them. Music was in a completely different place during the 60's and 70's, it would be interesting to see how they would fare in todays music industry if they were just starting out...

If this board is (as you refer to it) 'full of sh/t' then dont comment on it. And to say there would be no Take That without the Beatles? I actually think (and im sure people will agree) that that is a very 'silly statement to make'.

Although I prefer Take That to The Beatles I don't think Take That are in anyway better. But I really don't think The Beatles were the greatest thing to ever happen to music. There's a lot of $h!t in amongst their brilliant stuff.

As i said in my original post i know 95% of music lovers will disagree when i say the beatles are over rated, however it is my opinion they are over rated and for me personaly i prefer take that so for me it is not a silly statement to make its something i believe for myself. I know my opinion on this matter is not everyones cup of tea but at the same time there are still a few people (although in the minor) who dont rate the beatles very highly.

On saying the above im not saying take that are the best band in the world or in the UK for that matter, there are other bands and acts that i prefer to take that, but with take that i have been quite lucky that i loved their studio albums since they reformed and in particular i adore the circus, their older albums have some great gems aswell but they certainly are not as strong as take that phase 2, likewise i have also enjoyed some of their solo material in particular garys 2nd studio album. In addition their true talents come alive when they perform live which for me is crucial when defining if a band is good or not and like the beatles take that are certainly excellent live performers.

The Beatles were a talented band and i respect that as was elvis but on the whole neither act did anything for me, maybe music wouldnt be what it is had neither been around but surely some decent music was made before elvis and the beatles came on the scene, if the bands of today are all supposidly here because the beatles defined music what did the beatles follow by when they started out?

At the end of the day as i have often said if we all liked the same bands and music it would be boring, we all have different tastes and what some like i hate and vice versa and for me that is totally acceptable so i would argue that me saying "the beatles are over rated" is a fair comment to say and i would also argue that it isnt fair to say " thats a silly statement to make"

Well without The Beatles - there wouldn't be any Take That (or a lot of other bands for that matter.)

I have no problem with people saying that they don't like the Beatles - but to say that they are overrated is just beyond the pail! I personally don't like Elvis Presley and much prefer Roy Orbison - but I would never, ever say that Presley was overrated - as via him - a lot of true R&B music was brought to the attention of a wider public.

And ... if the Beatles weren't that great - why the hell did Take That do a whole Beatles medley to them - if not to thank them for what they'd done?

Take that may have loved the beatles the point is as individuals some of the posters here including me dont like them or for want of better words dont rate them as highly. The question i was asking kathy is what the hell did the music industry or music lovers do before the beatles came about, they are not the creators of music nor do they influence every bit f music we have to day, i dont deny they have influenced many but at the end of the day music was around before them and it will certainly be around without them.

I was just watching Alan Carr's Chatty Man and in his interview with Jo Brand they were discussing about Comic Relief when Alan Carr mentioned that he was filming and i quote "on the new Take That video"

He said that "Fake That will be taking on Take That in their new video"

This could be very interesting indeed!

Because he has said its Take That's new video it has to be Kidz right? It makes sense that maybe that is the reason we havent seen the music video yet and the reason why there has been no promotion.

I wish they would let us know whats happening, you could be right maybe there is another version of kids coming out or something, i hope we get some infor very soon.

Kids is top 20 in the midweeks #18 i think,i had hoped top 15, maybe it will make top 15 by end of the week but at worst i hope it can stay top 20. Sales for last week were over 12,000 so hopefully that and more again this coming week.

Yeah its about there at the moment, the worrying thing is that the download versions are slipping so its the physicals and pre orders that are boosting the charting at the moment but i just hope they can hold out consistantly. If they had got their promo right and released the song the same week as the Brits then they would have had another 12k on top of the pre orders and physicals :/ very poor management again, we could have easily been looking at top 10 if that was the case. And its only 79p on iTunes

I definately think there is something going on about the video, if you watch the clip on 4OD Carr clearly says that they will be taking on Take That in the new Take That video, (which has to be Kidz) so maybe Fake That will be dressed up like the 90's version of Take That or something

I think the single in a way has been mis managed but on the flip side i dont think take that concentrate on singles to much apart from the lead singles, the focus seems to the album sales which is paying off. I agree the downloads are not goin so well and are slipping which could mean they miss out on getting a top 20 single. A good fake that style video with some promo could boost the single performance but i guess we will have to wait and see.

Kidz has it's own video which was shot in Bulgaria recently with a large cast of extras, police, tanks etc.

The Take That/Fake That film is a special for Comic Relief on March 18th with David Walliams, Catherine Tate, Alan Carr, James Corden and John Bishop.

I doubt the Fake That video will be anything to do with Kidz though. They'll probably do a re-worked RMF or CIBM and just for laughs.

I wonder where the album will be this Sunday? I hope it manages to stay around the 10 position.

Im not too fussed about the album's position cos it will be there or thereabouts for the next year or so, and its pretty clear there will be a reissued version with new tracks so i dont have any reason to believe that the sales wont match or exceed beautiful world after that and the tour and what ever else

More pressingly is the charting for Kidz, im still trying to figure out why it hasnt been released yet when it was shot a couple of weeks ago. Thats why i thought that this comic relief thing might be the reason that makes its delay add up as it could debut on comic relief night etc but who knows.....Just wish they would hurry up and announce what is going on!

To be honest - although its a nice boost to them personally (and to the fans) the chart positioning of their singles doesn't really matter too much ... some of their best singles haven't even got near the top five - I'm thinking of UAN and SIA in particular - both of which were better than Greatest Day which did get to number 1.

I agree i doubt the single position is all that important to them and also that singles like up all night deserved a better chart performance and sales than greatest day, strangely greatest day was the weakest song of the album but done the best from the singles. Greatest day has been lucky though as its been used for loads of tv shows etc as i suppose it has the whole this is the greatest day of your life type thing when auditioning for x factor etc and been accepted goes down well at the time and always gains them sales.

As for the album it will stay around for ages yet and i also think a re issue will come but for me once it hits the 2 million uk sales which is will do do (its only 80,000 odd away from it) it has done its job, 2 million sales is massive and nothing to be sniffed at.

In the first set of midweeks progress is #15 this week.

It's a shame that they aren't trying to get as high as they can with their singles, i hoped that they might do something along the lines of when said it all was released in 3 different formats, different b sides, dvd singles etc....that got said it all to the top 10 so i would have though they would have done the same again but guess not

The real indication of where Kidz will end up on Sunday will be tomoro's midweeks, hope they stay around the top 15 mark

The 3 way phyisical format definitly helped said it all without doubt and as a fan of phyisical cd's i would be for that for all singles as its nice to have, kids would have definitly benefited if it got the same style of release, im actually disapointed by its download performance although there is probably 3 versions been downloaded (single, album and live version) which will help when combined with the phyisical. I agree wednesdays update will give a real indication of where it will chart on sunday but im thinking it will be outside the top 15 and if it is i can see it been #21 on sunday, i hope i am wrong as id like it to go top 20 at the least, but again they are no longer a singles act like they were but are now an albums act apart from the lead singles.
Top 10 as the album has sold loads! ^_^
