LOL Phil you KNOW Bones is a dead cert to come back.

I think that was from the first or second episode wasn't it? It was AMAZING. The delivery of the line, the fact that it wasn't built up to with that plinky-plonk 'clumsy' music that would definitely play over the scene if it was in one of the later seasons... the fact that everybody was genuinely SHOCKED whereas nowadays Bree can't do anything shocking because she's the most immoral of all the women. I agree everybody needs progression but progression is Gaby learning to balance having a family and being a mother with the fact that she's still glamorous and desirable, progression isn't Bree fucking every single 30-something man with a six pack who happens to pass through Fairview and then having a big 'emotional' moment of realisation once every few episodes where she realises what a HORRIBLE person she's become... and then goes and does it all again anyway the next week.

I'm ranting now. I'll probably end up watching season 7 anyway. Ha.

Haha! I think it was the second episode! Im not sure now, but it will be the most memorable scene for me. The show was so clever in the early days, like you said, the writing was spot on and was so current/fresh. Gaby has probably had the most character development. It was nice to watch her going from her selfish ways to a mother. However she is still old Gaby, which i think is great. Season 7 has been quite a dramatic one for Gaby concerning her family. I agree about Bree, she has turned out to be a whore, There is no other way to put it, she is. I did however love her psycho pharmacist boyfriend George. He was just splendid.

Any news on a season 2 for The Event?

LOL

It's season 1 ratings are utterly $h!t. They are terrible for NBC, which at the moment is some feat.

It's highly unlikely.

I was a big fan of The Event, but it's gone on hitaus again for a week, and I don't know whether I'll watch it again.

They changed the very confusing narrative (thankfully) but the writers on the show are seriously dreadful. The characters have weekly personality shifts. NBC have a load of sci-fi/thriller pilots so it's very unlikely they'll keep The Event.

I have given up with No Ordinary Family so my concern for it's future doesn't bother me like it did a few posts back.

I am concerned about Nikita though as it's ratings are falling.

No Ordinary Family won't be back, Nikkita will be.

When you look at the ratings of a program you should check out how the rest of the stuff on that channel is doing as well. The CW is a a terrible position with utterly gash ratings. Nikkita is one of their higher rated programs.

The Good Wife got a 2.0 in 18-49s again last night. The next episode isn't for another 3 weeks now. Body Of Proof got a 2.5 which is up on last week so I'm pretty sure it'll be renewed in May.
Is 2.0 good? I want more Good Wife :(

2.0 for CBS is absolutely dreadful. I have a feeling they're going to renew it though thanks to the critical acclaim and award nominations, they'll probably just end up moving it to Fridays and then perhaps cancelling it next season. The episode last night was incredible and definitely one of the best yet. The ending should definitely win Julianna Margulies an Emmy this year!

The Good Wife's renewal depends on CBS cancelling on or both of CSI:NY and CSI:Miami. They both have syndication deals and sell far better internationally than The Good Wife has.

I'd expect to see TGW cancelled over the CSI franchise.

I highly doubt The Good Wife will be cancelled. You have to remember also that as shows go on and become longer in the tooth they become much more expensive to produce. Wife is only in season two compared with the CSI franchise which is well into its 7th series across the board.

Basically three CBS dramas will be cancelled. Chaos is a certainty which leaves two. Blue Bloods rates worse than Wife and it probably costs quite a lot to produce, the cast is pretty crammed with names, so I'd say they'll get rid of that although it could scrape through. I'm pretty sure CSI: NY has had its day too. I would've said Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour would be the third casualty but it saw a significant ratings rebound up to a 2.6 this week so they'll probably want to nurture that for another season. On those grounds I think there are three shows more likely to be cancelled than Wife and one as likely, and I think it'll be safe but it'll move to Fridays next season.

CSI:NY is rating well for Fridays though. Hopefully the revenues it gets will out weigh the cost of the cast.

I love it, which makes me a lil bias.

Any news on a season 2 for The Event?

I gave up on this, I got lost after the long hiatus, as far as I know there are no plans for a new season.

Both Bones and House are apparently gunning for a two season pick up, hence the delay. [That and the issue of the extremely high license fee for House.]

Apparently, the deal for Bones Season 5 and 6 wasn't done until the weekend before the 2009 upfronts :manson:

No early renewal for me

Bloody ABC again. DH got a series low 2.7 last night, and B&S got a 1.7. Hopefully DH gets adjusted up to a 2.8 in the finals, but Easter won't help next week. Shame, a lot happened, I thought it was a great episode. But B&S ain't getting another season, and I won't be surprised if DH is given a final season the way it's heading...

Well, not entirely ABC's fault this time, ratings seemed to be down across the board

  • 2 weeks later...
It was expected, but Supernatural fans can now rest easy knowing Sam and Dean will indeed be back. The CW has renewed the series for Season 7, a few weeks before their full fall lineup is announced next month at the Upfronts.

Also renewed are The Vampire Diaries (watch it, it's way cooler than you think!), Gossip Girl, 90210 and America's Next Top Model. The fall edition of Top Model will be an All-Stars edition.

With Smallville ending its ten-season run and Life Unexpected cancelled, this leaves Nikita, Hellcats and One Tree Hill as the three CW series still waiting for their fates to be officially decided. Come on CW, we need more Nikita!

Meanwhile, I'm going out on a limb and guessing we've seen the last of Shedding for the Wedding.

Grrr, still nothing on OTH :/ Happy for VD even though it was expected, really surprised Nikita hasn't been picked up yet :| I think if it came down to Hellcats or OTH, OTH would be picked up again. If not then it would be down to renewing contracts. Why is Gossip Girl still going? :|

Gossip Girl does get terrible ratings but it probably makes more money than any other show on the CW. It's following may be quite small (and perhaps declining) but it's worldwide and loyal. I'm betting the next season will be the last though.
This is making me slightly worried for Nikita :( Though it should be pretty safe, 'Hellcats' ain't coming back with the 0.5 it got last Tuesday, and The CW probably don't want more than three new shows right? So then OTH should be safe as well, reports yesterday seemed to be saying that the cast had been signing on...
