The band had reunited with Robbie to record Progress, the biggest-selling album of last year in the UK. Appearing on BBC Radio 2 this morning, Barlow stated: "I think even moving forward, I know we’re back with Rob right now, but we still see our future as a four-piece band. "We see Take That as a four-piece band in general." All five members will promote the band's new single, 'Kidz', released on February 28.
January 19, 201114 yr thing is though didnt rob say that he has nothing left to say in a record and for the last couple of albums he was just going thru the motions and not really cared about the project as a whole?? why would he want to leave take that and go back to square one now that he is back to himself, confident and in love with music again thanks to gary mark jason and howard? strange stuff Edited January 19, 201114 yr by jay727
January 19, 201114 yr I don't trust Robbie words to predict what he will make tomorrow. He changes quite easy his mind and his mood. It is easier to predict the weather in ten years as to predict what Robbie will do in a week. :teresa:
January 19, 201114 yr Author Barlow: 'Take That avoid corporate deals' Gary Barlow has claimed that Take That often avoid corporate events and major advertising deals. The 'Back For Good' songwriter spoke about the reasons why his band failed to reach the same global audience as the Spice Girls did during the '90s and credited it to his group's ethics when it came to promoting products. "[The Spice Girls] did things we never quite believed in like advertising Coca Cola," he told Chris Evans's breakfast show on Radio 2. "Even today when we're offered millions of pounds to do corporate events we really think about these things and generally don't do them. I think it all just chips away at what you are. We’re wealthy characters. We never go out there to make money, we go out there to enjoy it and to give people happiness, to show people what we've got and what we're doing right now. "It's amazing that we're 20 years in and we're still relevant, we're still in the charts. We're still feeling like we're moving forward and they're the reasons that we do it. All the things like advertising companies and whatever they bought into in that day and age has gone. I don't think bands do that anymore." Barlow appeared on Evans's show to celebrate his 40th birthday.
January 19, 201114 yr Two word - Marks and Spencer. You know ... as much as I've gone off Gary Barlow a lot ... there are two things I'll still give him credit for - the first is his musical ability and the second is he is usually quite savvy - so why does he sometimes talk some absolute bullsh/t! Kath
January 20, 201114 yr Author Marks and spencer wa sthe first thing i thought of aswell, im soemtimes surprised they havnt done more indorsement deals as they could have all made million from it im sure.

Kath 1st - Marks and Spencer = 3 words. 2nd- he said they turn down MOST and they donated the 250k they got for that to charity on comic relief night 3rd - if you havent got anything constructive to say then log off buzzjack and do something else...no time for needless haters! <_<

Apparently Gary has straightened things out tonight (after his concert). He'd just worded things all wrong in the Evans show. Rob does want to continue his solo work - albums/tours - but the door has been left open for him to pop in whenever he wants - but Take That IS a four piece group at its core. To be honest though - I've no wish to watch TT as a foursome again now. Gary made such a big thing of Rob being back with all the 'inevitable' talk and 'its what the fans want' that I'd got used to Rob being with them before he'd even signed on the dotted line. I'd like to have watched the Progress Tour so that I could see, first hand, what they could do as a five. To watch them beyond the Progress Tour (back as a four) would be a bit pointless for me - as I'll have missed a link in the chain. Kath PS - I listened to a good chunk of the concert tonight and I have to say - it sounded a bit flat - not vocally - just flat in general. The only time it came to life was when he was singing Take That songs (his own stuff just came across as a tad boring). I have to add - on the vocals - Gary just can't hit the high notes on Patience (it sounded awful). Edited January 20, 201114 yr by Kathyp
January 20, 201114 yr Author I see what ur saying but i think when they return as four they will pull out every step they can possibly do to make sure that they follow up progress with a strong follow up and likewise with the tour, im really looking forward to seeing what style they go with on the next album.

Pete I think Jay may have accidentally posted half a dozen times there. If they're identical posts - can you delete all but one of them. It just looks like the Take That forum is boosting its post count. Kath

I know everyone who went said it was brilliant and I'm sure it was - being there is always different than listening on the radio or watching on TV even. Thank you - but I don't want to hear Forever Love at all - its a very poor song. I stand by my comments on the high notes 100% - I'm sorry - but Gary has always had a problem with Patience (it sounded decidedly dodgy on AAW but it appears to have got worse) so much so that I can't stand to listen to this live now - a shame as the song is one of my favourites. I must admit too - the Take That songs sounded even better the second time ... thanks for suggesting I listen again! Kath
January 22, 201114 yr Author I love forever love and its in my top 3 fave gary solo single, ya i agree performances never sound as good on radio etc as they do when you are actually there, i think if this gets a dvd release i will have to buy it as i have always been a fan of his solo stuff.

He performed Open Road, Wondering and Forever Love, if you type in GB40 to wikipedia it looks like someone has created an article on the concert and it has the complete setlist I agree with you i'd love to have heard Lie To Me live, i still believe that it would have given him a top 10 single and boosted the album sales of Twelve Months, but i did come across this video on youtube of him performing it at his last tour :)

Thanks again for the links to the concert which im going to look up now.
January 22, 201114 yr Author The performance was received extremely well, with Gordon Smart of The Sun commenting that "the star belted out hits old and new and, although he didn't need the help [from the guest appearances who joined him] on stage [they helped] to make his night - staged for charity - even more special." Smart concluded stating Barlow "ended with a brilliant encore, singing Patience, Never Forget and Rule The World. [barlow] said: Earlier on I was wondering how I could slow the evening down because I was enjoying it so much. Gary might not have wanted it to end - and neither did anyone else." Quite a nice review to get and im glad it has got good reviews. very strong setlist and not short on songs either,i definitly have to get this on dvd if it gets a release, better still id love a live cd release of it but i seriously doubt that will happen unfortunatly.

Thanks again for the links to the concert which im going to look up now. I agree with you completely, Twelve Months was miles better than Open Road (no pun intended), from that album only Forever Love, Open Road and So Help Me Girl were credible with Forever Love being the album's stand out track for me....with Twelve Months i can sort of see why they went for Stronger as the lead single but apparently he says in his autobiography that he wanted For All That You Want as the lead with Lie To Me as the 2nd single a week before the album was released but the record company wouldnt listen and insisted on Stronger. Its a shame really...but Barlow has said before that even if the album had 10 songs like Angels on it it would have still sunk without a trace because of the media backlash............... just out of interest it does say on the Twelve Months article on wikipedia that Barlow is considering re releasing both solo albums which is interesting to say the least B) The performance was received extremely well, with Gordon Smart of The Sun commenting that "the star belted out hits old and new and, although he didn't need the help [from the guest appearances who joined him] on stage [they helped] to make his night - staged for charity - even more special." Yes that's a great review, im sure it meant alot to him seeing that in the papers the day after the night before, especially after all the unnecessary and humiliating flack he recieved from the media the last time he appeared as a solo artist... I would love some sort of live cd release too and funnily enough i have heard rumours that a release is on the cards with all money again going to charity........only thing is though they are promoting Kidz in a couple of weeks and then according to reports they are recording '5 or 6' tracks to release as a follow up to Progress along with planning for the tour so who knows, all depends on the listening figures of the concert i guess and if they can find a suitable gap in the calender

I would add open road to the list you have aswell as i love that track, forever love is definitly the standout track from open road though and im glad it did quite well for him, ya gary has often said he knew before the album was even released it was gona flop as the backlash was at its height at that era plus he knew the record company had also lost interest in the project aswell. For me stronger is a nice song but should never ever have been a single let alone a lead single. just out of interest it does say on the Twelve Months article on wikipedia that Barlow is considering re releasing both solo albums which is interesting to say the least B) Yes that's a great review, im sure it meant alot to him seeing that in the papers the day after the night before, especially after all the unnecessary and humiliating flack he recieved from the media the last time he appeared as a solo artist... This rumour started floating around about a year agao as i remember doing a thread bout it in this forum but i dont think it will happen, at the time it was also reported that gary he would never record solo material again for release, i dont know if that still stands as i would class this latest concert as solo although its probably a one off that tied in with 20 years in the business aswell as his 40th birthday. I would love some sort of live cd release too and funnily enough i have heard rumours that a release is on the cards with all money again going to charity........only thing is though they are promoting Kidz in a couple of weeks and then according to reports they are recording '5 or 6' tracks to release as a follow up to Progress along with planning for the tour so who knows, all depends on the listening figures of the concert i guess and if they can find a suitable gap in the calender A live cd would be great but i wonder how it would work contract wise and all that, at the least id be disapointed if it at the least doesnt get a dvd release. Pete you can't really use Gordon Smart as a completely unbiased reviewer. He has been up TT's backside since they returned - he has NEVER said anything bad about them. Patience was OK until Gary tried to hit the high notes - it may have been my radio - but it sounded painful. But I am being a bit too critical as the audience (made up entirely of Gary fans) seemed to be pleased. Kath This thread has got entirely off topic. Its about Robbie's future with TT which I believe Gary and Rob resolved successfully. Edited January 23, 201114 yr by Kathyp
