I LOVE George Michael's music and I even had the opportunity to meet the guy briefly in June 2004 when he was in the US promoting his "Patience" album but I DO NOT seem him as an 80s artist. Yes, he did start his career in the 80s but it is only in the 90s when he became the seminal pop star with hits like "Fast Love", "Too Funky", and "Outside".

Fast Love is a classic song!.

I'm not really a fan but I do love Freeek. Outside, Too Funky, Shoot The Dog & Precious Box

I think it's fair to say that "Fast Love" was the song that broke George to a whole new generation of listeners OUTSIDE the US. The average listeners in the US still has no idea George Michael released anything after "Freedom 90".

Faith, Last Christmas, Club Tropicana and yes - Careless Whisper!!

Hate the 80s schmaltzy cheesy crap - but the 90s stuff - especially Listen Without Prejudice - is stunning. Older, too is phenomenal - and Jesus To A Child is one of the most moving pop songs ever written - genius.

Of the 80s stuff, it's only One More Try I'd ever care to listen to again.

I watched his 25 Live show on TV Christmas before last and it's fair to say he sounded better than ever - and by all accounts, the new show with the orchestra, is even better. Whatever happens in his private life, I think we need to remember this is a guy who, far from losing his talent, appears to be more talented than ever.

Get well soon, Mr M.
